In regard to the playing DVDs on your Wii, there is a homebrew heck that can do it for you that a friend of mine tried and was happy with.  And Japan is pretty into all-in-one gadgets, so with Nintendo being popular over there, it possibly being region exclusive to Japan, and that it is existing hardware for the most part, it makes sense.  Japan always gets the cool things.

Like I said in chat when this was first mentioned yesterday- "This is why I dislike Nintendo now".

Sorry, but I had never felt more ripped off than when I bought 2 GBA's when they came out... only to have model after model shoved down my throat... Same with DS... Bought it the year it came out... and bam!

I love my DS, but this crap just bugs me
Especially considering the "new features" they are adding are by no means new technology. They could have just as easily put this into the original plans. The only reason Nintendo is doing this is because they are loosing quite a bit of their customers for the DS to the PSP or the I Phone because they have games, music players, and the i phone has a camera.  They are simply trying to bring those customers back to them. I doubt there will be any really significant game play features that use the "new features" except maybe adding yourself into a game.

!@#$% yeah, time to add my head onto link's head in the new zelda for the DS.

I can add my head to princess peaches body.

God i am so buying this now.

Am I the only one who doesn't hate it when companies bring out a new pointless model? I mean seriously the price of the older one drops so much I can actually afford to buy one (though that point is slightly invalid here as I already have a DS but meh)

i bought my DS the year it was relased... big, buly, and silver. and i loved it. honestly, i would much rather have kept it than get a DS lite any day...

BUT

i sold it. cause im a broke ho and i needed to pay my bills.

so whenever the time comes to replace it, i just may look into this new model if it winds up not sucking. camera and music capabilities... dunno it kinda seems like pointless bells and whistles but if im gonna buy a new DS anyway, i might as well.

Sounds pretty cool. My mp3 player sucks balls and I don't have a camera. I got a DS and a DS lite though. A third DS might be out of the question.

I'll stick with my Electric Blue phat DS tyvm.
I got the Electric Blue as well and it's awesome. :D

* Moldorma thinks desperately of excuses for why he needs to buy this.

Uh... my DS Lite has a.. uh.. crack on it. Yeah that's it.

Seriously though, if the new DS has an all metallic case, I'll get it for the sheer fact that I hate glossy things and both my DS Lite and my PSP 1000 are smudged to !@#$%. D;

I never bought a lite because I thought something like this might happen. Ill look into buying a new model DS, but Ill wait until I see one before pledging my soul to it. And anyway, the DS Lite always looked a bit like a McDonalds toy to me.

At least there was a bigger gap between Lites and the new one then the PSP models, Id be annoyed if I was a PSP owner.
