the natural origins of pokemon

while trying to find some enemy designs I came upon a website which not only contain almost all terror movies monsters used during the snes era but it also contained tons more for example this article containing where the pokemon actually come from, I already knew that Satoshi Tajiri liked insect, yet I thought the new pokemons came from just random animals and insects not specific ones here is the link if someone is interested :

Yes, I'm also aware that Golduck is intentionally similar to the (typically more reptilian)
Kappa of Japanese folklore, but this is an article about the natural world, not the
supernatural, and Golduck clearly has a primary animal basis.

Naw, I think Golduck is clearly a Kappa, dumbface.

Well, game haters always said that pokemon games are the biggest examples of animal abuse. It is no surprise that most of the pokemon based on normal animals. There are a lot more examples of pokemon based on examples. Especially the cat- and doglike pokemon. Well they are not even trying to hide those.
