Story:
In 776 H.R.Hyrule was back in the power of the Royal Family. Ganon was defeated.
The Hero of Time left Hyrule and the Master Sword was returned to the pedestal.
Waiting for another hero to pull it out and save Hyrule once again...
After a few years. Princess Zelda got very sick for an unknown reason.
The King got the best doctors and magic users of Hyrule to save his daughter's life.
But they could not help her. Princess Zelda died in 779 H.R.
The King was so saddened by her death. That he was no longer able to rule the land.
He gave the responsibility to his army admiral. Who was now in control of Hyrule.
The Admiral quickly recruited more troops and called out the Hyrule Empire.
He pulled out the Master Sword as he would be the new hero of Hyrule.
Making himself Emperor of Hyrule. He started building a massive army of soldiers.
The soldiers swore to protect the Empire from any threat. And protect the people.
Hyrule prospered under this new rule. Trains and flying machines were invented.
But not everyone agreed with this new rule. Small resistance factions spawned.
The factions believed the Emperor was planning to invade other worlds...
And to enslave the Hylians to soldiers...

Features:

"Mouse Interaction"
Using the advantage of the mouse, no need for pressing buttons when you want to talk, click, decide, read or acces your menus. Simply walk up to people, signs or items using the WASD movement like in FPS games and use the mouse to interact.

"Real-Sized Insides"
This feature adds a great deal of realism to the game. You can instantly walk into a house and the roof will disappear and you can explore it.

"Clothing Change"
You can change your looks by buying new sets of clothes from shops. But some exclusive suits are harder to get.

"Easy Slide Menus"
As mentioned before. You can simply click a button for the menu to slide open on the right. A few clicks and you can change your weaponry, use a magic spell, drink a potion or simply take a look at the map to see where you are going. And one simple click will slide the menu back. The game will not pause while in menu either. You can just take a look at your menu while walking.

"Quest System"
Perhaps one of the most notable changes. You can take on quests from people you meet. It can be as simple as picking up items to delivering messages or destroying enemies.

"Karma"
You can also do quests for the Rebels or for Hyrule. And you will raise and drop in karma. The higher the karma the more advanced quests become available. But if you drop or raise too high you have chosen a faction. So choose carefully.

"New Transportation"
It's a big overworld. And since new inventions have been made - you can either walk, rent a horse, ride the train, take a windplane or eventually even teleport yourself to other areas.

"Weather Effects"
The weather can change over time. It will also have different effects on the game. For example some places may be closed during rain or are harder to get into. Snow, fog and just drizzles to a thunderstorm can happen.

"Amazing Detail"
Not a single piece of the tiling process is overlooked. It has been perfected and the detail is very high. A bush here, a speck of grass there. Making the overworld very alive and realistic.

Other Features:
● Location Bar, shows you what area you enter.
● Health and Magic system
● In-game Clock
● Weapons
● Inventory Items
● Magic Powers
● Rupee money system
● New Enemies

This is sorta the official trailer. This is basicly here instead of the demo. Since it shows off almost the entire town and how quests and others work. Theres a slight delay during the game where I switch off the music. Also, in the end the area indicator kinda goes insane cuz of the music being off. Not a big deal.

From what I've seen on the huge trailer, this looks VERY promising, I hope a demo will come out very soon, as this is one of a kind! I do miss "Zelda Party" though, archery was a lot of fun!

One I am showing that you can do all this with TGF.

But I will probably move to TGF2 when I run out of active objects to use lol. But I will still do most of the work in TGF.

You can't say that honestly. You havn't even played it, for all you know, its riddled in bugs and you get stuck and have to restart every 5 seconds. (Though, from the looks of the trailer, that dosen't happen) Thats like saying that Oot 2d will suck without even playing it.

It could be called the best presentation of a project though. (It actually is if you think about it, from screens showing how to do things, etc. It inspired me to already start planning my presentation for my other project)

Dont worry. The bugs arent so bad :D
It just needs a new movement engine XD

Well I can help you make a nice simple movement engine for a demo to show other things off, then I could try again at making that engine I made in MMF in TGF.. there are ways, although its annoying because in the TGF editor you cant flip objects and therefore make the collision detectors quickly.. have to draw each and slowly as I'm not used to TGF.

One thing I could do was disscus how that other engine was done then you can do it :P.

The cursor based gameplay is pretty neat...it wouldn't insult you if I used it, would you? :-\
Title: Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Choice Of Destiny
Post by: Kleaver on August 17, 2006, 01:24:00 pm
I would XD

Well sure you can use it. Its not something I invented. Im surprised not many people used it.
I love making games that are easy to control and use. So you can start right away. So using the mouse is just a good solution. Also having to move your hand to the arrows in the corner of your keyboard is something that annoyed. So now you just use buttons where your hand feels nice combined with your mouse :D

Benito, we will talk on MSN :D My movement engine sure could use some work. It was never the final version though. I was planning on changing but it wasnt that much of a priority.

Really really promising game, good luck and keep up the great work! Just one bit of error, I noticed that in the trailer none of the flowers moved, I didnt know if you had that fixed already or there is a problem but I thought I would just say something, other than that it looks really good, you got my support!

I did that on purpose for now. I might make them move later. But they kinda take up space now. Its easier to put it all in with them not moving.
Besides. Its more realistic this way  :D

If you want it to be very realistic, have a timer. When that timer reaches a certain time, make them do things according to their enviorment. So, if you smashed all their dishes, they'd have to go to the resturant to eat. Or, if their is no more wood, they'd go to chop some if their axe is fixed.

That would make bow to you.

You never know, you might think your voice sucks. But others might like it. If you can just to a few lines its okay.

I think voice overs do not fit in a Zelda game Nintendo never did it.

I know, Nintendo also never had mouse movements, quests, WASD movement, disappearing rooftops etc.

BTW, Kleaver, I did alot of stuff this week, and had not time for Pebbles. Either tomorrow, or next week.

Okay, well you can mail me some of your stuff or contact me on MSN. Im on a lot...not next week though. School starting again >_>

Title: Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Choice Of Destiny -> VOICE ACTORS WANTED!
Post by: Kleaver on August 25, 2006, 11:44:23 pm
Exactly, and it turns out the voice acting is harder to put in than expected. If I want the text and such running the same as before I would need to do more coding for it, and thats just too much work for all dialogues already in place.

Short sounds are fine though.

I've got a question: did you use Game Maker to make this?
It was made in The Games Factory a product by ClickTeam. If your asking if Game Maker could do this, then yes it probaly could.

Yes, but I dont know anything about Game Maker, except how to tile.
I love the way TGF works. And with this I would also like to show that with old software you can do amazing things :D

Don't ever switch. I don't want this game coming out like I think it would if the person is a newbie to game maker....

I am working on one right now. And it will be big. But first I think I will show a good new trailer. With some more features.
Not for a while though. School sucking up a lot of time. But I still work on it sometimes  :D

Does that mean, the demo, (when it comes out) will include like a temple or two, and some side quests etc.?

Temples arent really the focus of this game. So no more than one I think.

But you can use some weapons, clothes, and a bunch of side quests...and a large overworld.

It does, but it will just count those anyway. I think....

It is one of it's only flaws. Well that and it cannot make normal fades.
I would move it all to TGF2, but there is a trial. And I wasn't planning on paying.

Yeah, the game is currently on hold. It's not really working because of engine/coding/software problems. And I just don't have a lot of time to work on it.

I will probably redo a big part of the engine and only keep the tiling. Meaning I will have to code it again for a part in TGF2.

I will probably need help with that though.

Yeah I could use help from you, maybe coding in MMF TGF2 just is too complex for me. I mean, it worked what I did. But I think theres a much simpler system to do.

Well for what your doing I would recommend GameMaker, it may seem bizarre to you but it's really quite simple.  It's like learning French after Spanish, it basically the same things, just some changes.  If you think logically you can do it.

Lol back when I started wanting to make games I had an early version of GM, but it was way different to MMF or TGF, I advise MMF, MMF2 or TGF2 over most others hehe.

Well what you had seemed to be working fine, then there always tends to be a slightly better way of dealing with some things and when you move to TGF2 you can get my help in a much easier way as it can open MMF files can it not?

Well, I would like to do that Ben, but it's gonna take a lot of work. So if you are really up for the coding this game requires...the most coding won't go up in movement of the character. But quest and item info. Perhaps I can make the game even better than it already is.

Restarting the game in GM is out of the question. The tiling in TGF took a sick amount of time and work. And I am not going to retile everything in GM. That would be time consuming and probably would not work properly.

I do have to say that this project has caught my attention since the first time I saw it, I like the quality, mostly the originality in the ideas, I feal that this game represents all the ZFGC projects, which gave it the title of POTM, apart from that your game seems really interesting, making me want to see more about it.

I'm not sure what's happening with Benito but if he's left you hanging I'll be happy to help you convert the project to the Click2 range. Personally I suggest MMF2 instead of TGF2 because they're much more similar than the original range meaning it's worth having the extra features of MMF2.

So yeah, if you need any help don't hesitate to ask me :)

Well as I am not leading the project I'm waiting on his word lol.
Title: Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Choice Of Destiny >>ON HOLD<<
Post by: Kleaver on October 21, 2006, 09:38:21 pm
Well basicly that would mean I would not do any of the coding. Or atleast not much of it. Since MMF and it's sequel just don't like me and I don't like them. So this would be a major issue. And I dont someone backing out of it. I mean, my coding is not impressive and I assume people like you have a much better idea of how to code things than I do.

Hence it needs to be recoded in MMF2 coding which will probably work a lot better. Also, a lot of code from TGF just won't work right in the second generation games. Lots of stuff not working. And to make matters worse, the .gam from TGF kinda broke down and I dont seem to have a recent backup. So the coding is screwed. All the tiling is ofcourse saved.

So if anyone wants to help me I would love that. But keep in mind that its a lot of coding to do, but not as much as I did first since all the animations and stuff are all made, its simply a matter of tieing them together in code. And there is probably an easy way to do that in MMF2 that saves a lot of time and trouble...

Ok, wouldn't that need an even number of civilians, though. If you think about it, the Hyrule soldiers will have more quests because they are more of them. The other dudes won't have as many quests so it will be harder to fight for them.

BTW: Do you gain rep for the evil or good side when doing quests for civilians?

the oracle games mention her and I believe she has a quick appearence at the end when you beat Ganon (You have to beat OoS or OoA then transfer the save data to the other and after you beat it you get a few extra locations where you fight a few new bosses)

and as for Majora's Mask, she is in the beginning teaching Link the Song of Time.so I believe LA was the only one without her (It may have mentioned her at the beginning or something along the lines.)

Everyone who is saying that those games do feature Zelda somewhere... well, this game does aswell at the start, and that falls into the category of hardly ever. And she will be in it later. And what about the the first game(or the second...I think) they only mention her at the start. and Zelda might come in later somewhere, like a spirit or something, or like Gandalf ;)
Anyway... If it is on hold why can't you just release a Demo so we can play this game until we're bored?

If he releases it all at once then we'd play around with it a few days, then think "this is boring, nothing new to do, I could do this quest, but it's the same as the last quest I did :(" but if he gradualy releases it then people will try going around the town, then next theywould try combat, and so on until the end where they'll be able to beat whoevert the main enemy is.

This appears to be an amazing game, and I think just releasing what you have would make a very large impact regardless. Please release a demo, though if you decide not to, from a game developer's point of view, I understand why. But, posting as a player's point of view, I think you should.

I'm not exactly sure of what I was trying to say in that post, but it'll probably come to me later.

also... I forgot to mention that if you release it now, then you can see what feedback you get, then make another, and wait for feedback on that, and so on until you can make your game great by listening to others suggestions

I would say No. Dont release an unfinished artwork. If you need feedback only give it to betatesters not to everyone. People should be able to experience it in a full game without it being cut short.

You both have good points. But it's not like nothing will work. It will just not be as completed as the full game. I could include atleast 3 short quests for testing out. I would like to hear some feedback too.

To put it bluntly your code is unorganised making it difficult to work out where to start when it comes to porting it. I believe it would be easier and faster to rebuild the entire engine than port it to MMF2 (although Benito, my superior in Click Knowledge may disagree).

I also think that you should take the time, or get someone else to take the time (Benito? Me in the distant future?), to build a proper, mouse-click movement system because you obviously don't want one like the one in OoL because, to put it bluntly, it sucked - and I don't think you should stay with the keyvboard movement.

I already said it's quite possible to make a decent AoE style movement system in MMF2 with patience using a collection of advanced maths and formulas.

i would generally agree that if you are taking the coding job on yourself then its best for you to start from scratch merely using the first engine for reference, also some things that are used in TGF don't work in MMF as far as I remember, some events freeze up the event editor when crossed over. Although at first rebuilding might be slow you would end up with a more well rounded engine. having someone new take over your code and add things will be just that, someone tacking things on, making events to simply solve problems that they don't understand.

As for the mouse click movement engine I made one a while back hehe, using the path finding object as you could imagine, although that will only work on a grid based system and thats exactly what I wished to do s maybe it wouldn't fit your purpose really. And as for making a AoE system with the maths tools I've never seen it done but I'm guessing it could. I never looked into that area of pathfinding.

Post by: Kleaver on October 31, 2006, 02:32:42 pm
Yes, I said from the beginning is that I would need it from scratch. But I can not do that alone. Because if I would it would be the same crappy coding all over again. I mean well. The codes work. But I have a feeling people you Ben, Naz, Sol etc. can do it so much easier in much less time.

I have been working on making that short demo. And everything works fine. It would also be a good chance to see how it should work if you plan to help me recode it.

Also, I forgot who I promised to let the game beta test. Will that person please remind me? I also have one or two free slots for beta testing. But only respond if you are very, very thorough. As there are many things in the quest system that might have bugs.

Yes boys and girls, it is finally here. The town demo! Just download and play it. You might have to unzip it somewhere. It is already in a folder so just extract everything. If it does not work please let me know!

Oh, and you might notice a huge amount of bugs on the movement engine and other stuff. But just ignore that. The movement engine was never fuly worked out. It will all be fixed in the new engine. Just tell me what you think about it  :)

I found nothing wrong with the demo except for the occasional walking through walls (After quests) and a few things that I'll mention. I have a bit of a complaint, though, the town did exactly seem lively. Out of all the people only four/five actually moved (In a pre-set path. <_<) and barely anyone had any animations. The sounds, I have to say, where excellent and a great addition (How you found sounds for all those things is beyond me) but the game was lacking music. (Unless I couldn't play the music (I can't play midi's on my computer))

Other then those few things, it was an excellent first demo. (Awesome menus)

Note: I can't find smithys hammer, is it actually obtainable?
Title: Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Choice Of Destiny TOWN DEMO! DOWNLOAD!
Post by: Kleaver on October 31, 2006, 10:47:31 pm
No, the hammer is in the Forest, which you cannot go.

Yes, the town is not that lively. I agree completely. But since I ran out of active objects to use it is hard to make it lively. So in the new re-coded I will have birds flying, more people walking and moving plants and stuff like that :)

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks

Lol don't worry, got it to work.

I think I'm in !@#$% love with this game! :D We don't get to see fan games of this quality much nowadays. First of all, nice work on the tutorial, that was really well done, and I love how the flowers are set up "WASD", little details that make your life better :D
The gameplay is awesome and really well thought out. I mean come on, this is great! As you said though, the walking engine needs some work, but apart from that, it's very smooth! The mouse interactivity is too good to be true! Wow, it's so easy you get addicted and start looking everywhere for an object to click on! :D Hehe, very nice. The menus are awesome, very simple, easy to use, and have that good ol' Zelda feeling! Sounds are very well implemented, I wonder how you got those Wind Waker sounds though?
The town itself is great, can't get much better of a starting town than that! The Quest system works like a charm, and I just love the reference to GTA 3 when you finish a quest. I mean come on, that just blew me away! I reckon I found one or two glitches, concerning sounds, just before I leave a place, to another place, and a sound is played during the move (like opening the menu or whatever), then it gets stuck and the sound repeats itself until I move to another place. Bah I guess that will be fixed since you're going to rewrite everything, so I'm not worried!
I only found one quest though, are there any more?
Oh, the text box is incredible, and the "Yes / No" buttons are nice, well overall the graphics are really good and fit together extremely well.

For a first public demo, this is an excellent job,  you for sure have to keep at it, I mean don't even try to forget about this project or I'ma come at night and CENSORED (http://h1.ripway.com/AleX_XelA/censored.PNG) :P

Nice story too (just got around to read it), but where is Link? :(

Keep up the good job!

Wow Alex, thanks a lot :)
Yes, all those problems are going to be worked out. There are tons of bugs if you know where to find them. It will all be fixed hopefully.

There are 2 quests you can complete, one in the blacksmith's home and one in the pub.
You can accept 2 more...but you can never complete them in this demo.

I got the sound and music from several dfiferent places. From Knights Of The Old Republic 2 for example. Which is where I based the hud off too. And all the other music is from different RPG games, 7th sage, Terranigma, Zelda and some other old SNES RPG's that I forgot.

- On the map, you should add the character's location, but don't just cut off the head, make a gb styled one, it will fit better with the map.
- Awesome Burp sound! I just keep talking to Louis :D

Try using the arrows and mouse at the same time. My hands start to hurt. WASD is a completely normal movement that has been used by FPS games for the last decade or so :P

Also, every Zelda game is realy in arrow movement. I wanted to do something different.

Brilliant. I can tell I will love this game. Is this going to be online? Either way, still the best fan game I've seen here without a doubt.

Suggestions:

Have keys set to each menu. Clicking gets repetitive after a while. For example, "I" is inventory, "Q" is quests - or something like that. Also, clicking textboxes seems counterproductive. Maybe pressing enter would be better. You also might want to have a down arrow to show that there is more text to display. Also, to close menus, I'd like to be able to just press espace or hit the icon at the top again, not have to hit a close button within the menu, such as in the weapons menu.

Everything else seemed perfect. I like the sound effects very much- but I don't love the midi music.

Is this going to be online?

No, that would be much too hard. Maybe one day.

Have keys set to each menu. Clicking gets repetitive after a while. For example, "I" is inventory, "Q" is quests - or something like that.

Yeah, That would be easy to do. I just liked using the mouse since it takes less time usually.

Also, clicking textboxes seems counterproductive. Maybe pressing enter would be better. You also might want to have a down arrow to show that there is more text to display.

I never added that since I did not need it. That is why this demo is incomplete.

Also, to close menus, I'd like to be able to just press espace or hit the icon at the top again, not have to hit a close button within the menu, such as in the weapons menu.

As the tutorial states, the weapon menu is really old, I made it like 6 months ago. All the new menus slide in and out by clicking them. Can't get much simpler than that.

Everything else seemed perfect. I like the sound effects very much- but I don't love the midi music.

I just tossed in some midi's for the demo. But I like them.

Wow, talk about detail! Nice job dude :D. I love the system, but it sucks that you have to actually be ON an NPC to talk to them. Try making distance checking or something.

That would be unrealistic to talk from afar. You have to walk to an NPC in any other game  (or Zelda game) to talk.

I want to get the hammer from the shed but I cant find it :'( but i guess it's not programmed yet! ;D

Yeah, I should have put that in. I could have just moved the hammer into the demo and you could complete it. But hey. The forest was not fully done yet.

This was very very good! The only bad thing was the bow, it just didn't feel right.

The bow and all weapons are not final. I don't like the bow much either. But keep in mind, there are 4 kinds of bows. One can fire while walking, other do more speed/damage etc. This is the first and simplest bow.

And if you want me to make this in GM, just ask me, I can do it if you want.

Thanks for the offer, but I will only work with Click games. I do not understand GM at all.

I can't download it! (Wrong URL or server's down) NOOOOOOOO! I have been waiting for so long, someone help me!

It should be back up now. It works for me.

I have followed the rewriting discussion but not thoroughly, what is going to happen to this game?
I see this game will have a great future, so anyone in charge of rewriting the engine, please include a multi-language capability. I just wanna see everyone playing, and you'll get more downloads if the whole planet understands the game!

I know it is the fog layer, I was just asking why the houses weren't covered by the fog....

I know, but I never explained in the demo there was a fog layer. You must have pressed the right key?
Because I see no snow on that shot.
I forgot to make the fog appear over the roofs.

Enough said. Though the Weather thing was a bit glitchy, as in that rain sound didn't wanna stop some of the time...

Also is it possible to finish the quests? Because I couldn't find a pub of a rabbit race anywhere...?

No you can only finish two, the one in the pub and the first Smithy one.
And about the weather, all the weather sounds are at a set of seconds, so when you deactivate it just like that it will finish the sound first. Which is all fixed ofcourse in the new version, where the sound and rain will hopefully also fade in and out.

Thanks for all the compliments ^_^

Very, very nice. I have only a few issues that I found:
When you walk around with the fog, storm, or snow, it moves faster, and with you - it looks a bit awkward.
As has been said, the house roofs are above the fog, but the cucco is also, you way want to note that.
The sign in front of the house next to the well highlights but does not click, I don't know whether this is intentional or not...
When ou shoot the bow downwards, the bow sprite appears and dissappears so fast it appears only as a slight flicker in the sprite.
That's all I can find for now, hope it helps you!

And very nice job by the way, I am extremely impressed!

Ah yes, the sign was simply something not added yet. As it had something to do with stuff not written yet. Should say the name of the person who lives in the house...

Just keep in mind most of them are very easy to fix flaws that my *cough* beta team overlooked

/me fires them both ;)

This was very very good! The only bad thing was the bow, it just didn't feel right. And if you want me to make this in GM, just ask me, I can do it if you want.

-- TC
Yea, the bow.  It was "attached to the player"!
When you shot it up, and moved left, the arrow also moved left.  Can't you spawn a placeholder for the player that stays in the position where you first shot it so it stays in that spot?  Same with towards and away from the arrow, it slows down/ speeds up the arrow!

Well basicly everything not credited for is made by me ^_^
But I forgot some people I guess...I tried to keep a very good record though.

neat demo, I got stuck in a bush next to the fortune tellers house tho

Yes, that would be the crappy movement engine.

So this was a town demo, will there be any dungeons, monsters, spells, classes, and ask/say?

Yes, I already made two enemies and was working on one dungeon.

I already did that yesterday...

Hi again,
Personally, I find it strange about the dungeons etc. How are you going to make the story really evovle with Hyrule really good, I mean i know what the trouble is, but it's a bit hard to see how you are going to have to fight the king.

Demo is awesome, I'm not sure how long its been out, but I'm sorry I didn't play it sooner. The only thing that bugs me, and I'm sure someone already whined about it, is the transitions between areas.

Now that i'm done whining it looks great.. and is totally awesome.  Keep up the good work. ^.^

See, this is one of the down-sides of reduced activity. Sure I'm passing all my classes and I'm happy with my life, but I miss the cool stuff like this ;).

I played the demo and I must say it rocks! It's a little irksome using a laptop's pad mouse and then trying to catch the moving villagers, but then I hate the pad-mouse as it is and it's not your fault, really. Everything is really well done. The menu system is great, the music is good, the real-sized houses are amusing, but really do work well, and overall I didn't notice any bugs... except one. You made a single mistake which is one I have seen in practically every fan game to come out with so much as a walk demo: the speed of the diagonal walking. Odds are you just set it so that he moves at x speed going left and y speed when going down, then pushing both makes him go in both directions at the same time. While it's technically true that he's just going left and down at the same time, setting both to the same speed while going diagonal is disproportional to his real speed. It can be demonstrated by using vectors. If you haven't done physics and/or don't know what vectors are, it doesn't matter you should understand what I'm saying:

This also goes for anyone else who has made the same, very common, mistake.

Your diagonal speed is made up of two other speeds; your vertical and your horizontal. The diagonal is merely the resultant speed. If you sketch it out, you should get a right triangle. Let's say the speed is 1. You would draw two lines at right angles each measuring one unit. The speed you get from doing both at the same time (moving diagonally) would be the hypotenuse of the triangle (the long side). If you connect the other ends of the liens and complete the triangle, a measurement will quickly show you that the diagonal speed is greater than one. What does this mean? It means that when you push left and down at the same time his speed isn't 1, it's more and therefore too fast. The speed is actually around 1.41421356... (the square root of 2). In order to get that to exactly 1, you need to figure out what the horizontal and vertical speeds need to be. To do that we use the pythagorean theorem:

a2 + b2 = c2
The letters 'a' and 'b' are the straight sides and 'c' is the diagonal one. Taking the square root of a2 + b2 would give you the diagonal side. What we want is to start from c.
a2 + b2 = 1 (since 12 is just 1)
2a2 = 1 (since a and b are equal)
therefore a2 = 0.5 and a = square root of 0.5 (around 0.707106).

Long story short, when both buttons are pressed, instead of going whatever speed you're going, figure out how much you need to change that by taking the square root of half your desired speed. It's a little bit more tedious to do than what you've already got, but it's better (not to mention more realistic) if the character actually does travel at the same speed in every direction.

BTW, I really like that clothing shop you put there. That's something that's cool to see! Will the clothes be purely aesthetic or will there be armors or magic clothes that have effects?

I use a laptop aswell, so I feel your pain, but i'm fine with it, all we will have to do is press the right button, not move it, to attack. I don't mind the diagonal, doesn't really matter, either way I can't wait till we get some action ;D

Wow Alex, that's a lot of text :P
Well that probabaly explains why diagonal movement causes bugs as the speed is higher which opens up collision bugs.

The clothing was planned to be asthetic. At first I wanted to be able to change 3 parts, head, torso and legs. But it was much too  complex.
But yeah, I could give the clothing added effects. Sure. That be fun.

Dan, that stuff happens sometimes. Just restart. And stay on the path ;)

Very good demo, I like the whole point and click thing, it reminds me of how Phantom Hourglass is going to be. Wish there were a sword though...bushes EVERYWHERE, I have a habit of slicing every bush I see...

Anyway, onto C and C. Are you going to make it so that you can talk to people when you aren't standing right in front of them? Cause sometimes I would come up beside someone, and they wouldn't highlight, so I didn't figure I could talk to them...and yeah, not always easy to get right in front of them. Um...oh, he looks weird when you go diagonally, cause there's no diagonal sprite...I think that's how Link has been in every 2d game...but I've never liked it. Not sure what could be done to fix that...but if you think of anything, give Nintendo a call...they could use the help too. Other than that...very good. Hopefully there'll be more substance in the next demo...I kept trying to pick things up and stuff and couldn't. I liked the fortune teller by the way...
(Can you tell I was pushing for bad things to say about the game?)

Hello ^^ I'm a MMF programmer too and i was wating for this game since the last z3 . Well this game is good but i don't like the move engine, i've got a "Azerty" keyboard and so it's hard to move the character :p .
Why don't using the mouse to move him ?

Bye and good job for this excellent game  :)

Ah well, mouse movement was a bit hard to program for me. But if this game is going to get a new engine I might be able to put that in.

But as of now this game is on hold. I have a lot of other stuff to deal with. School for example. And the Wii. And I guess the fangaming is just getting a little rusty.
