Hey, so I don't know if I might happen to have anything that could help you, but for a while, I've been working on a game set hundreds of years before Majora's Mask, as a kind of prequel. I feel like I've probably had to sprite some things that you'll need, and my feelings on my sprites are that you should be allowed to use them if you want.
I dunno what platform you're working from, but I use rpg maker XP (which is dumb, I know :p), so all the sprites from my game need to be shrunk 50% before they're standard size. But you're welcome to download my game and look at the graphics folders:

Credit is nice, but really, this is the internet, so who cares? :p
Also, I've been slowly starting to get back into making this game after a break for Summer, so watch out for competition on the Termina front! (Competition/cooperation, if you so choose :p)

Of course credit will be given. And the only game I'm worried about being superior than Shadow of Termina is Echoes of Aurelia. THAT is the game that inspired me to make a 2D Zelda. It looks amazing. I hope that this game can at least stand up to it.

I'm all up for co-operation. You've got some really cool ideas in there. I necroposted there and hopefully it wasn't too bad. Anyway, which game maker would work best if i wanted to capture the feel of say.. FSA? (I keep staying up till 9 am... need to stop so i can wake up in time to use my sister's computer...) Oh, and I really think it's cool how you seem to do some of everything. I really need to learn how to do mapping because I feel like it'll be one of my strong points. What would you say is the easiest skill but still takes a considerable amount of time and talent?

Haha, I have no idea how to answer this, it's all totally dependent on personal motivations and stuff. Sorry, there isn't any skill that's easier than other skills :p

If you guys need sprite head start, try to search for SDK(if not then I prolly have somewhere on my pc that I can share with you :D), there is an gmk file with loads of TMC sprites. As for the engine 4S/Diminish and Niek coded one a while back.

Well, I'm done with the spriting of the Tower Knight. It's actually a recolour of the Darknut, and a couple of modifications. Any complain you have, tell me.

speaking of Engines. I'm really liking and wanting that engine being used in Echoes of Aurelia. It has EVERYTHING that I mentioned visually. Weather, time, and MC stuff. I just hope they let us use it.

i have been looking at both tower nights that we did and there are some differences:
1. baze´s shoulders are lighter than mine.
2. blaze´s head is rounder than mine so I will have to say blaze´s is better than mine.
Hmm.. I can't really tell what's going on with the bow guy.
actually I got the bow from the bow moblin and recolored it to put it on the night.

I tryed to do the floor from the deku chamber using the deku throne from leduardo, but I cant seem to get the floor right, i got six different floors and i want you to choose the one that fits best.

Gonna have to find my majora's mask and check. hard to say right now. i'm thinking either 3 or 4 though.

Deku Palace had a normal flooring in MM, well depending on where you are within the place. The min room has palish type flooring.
Left room and I think te right room has grass and dirt flooring. The room with the Deku King inside has the palish type flooring.

I'll go with the palish flooring. When you add the bonfire, it will make it stand out.

Nice XD but if you wanna see how the walls look like I posted vid up. But as of now it is good, just needs a bit more work though.

Here is an update of the deku chamber, tell anything that I can improve.

Looks very good, though I think some asthetic changes could be done. The green and brown leafs scattered around the fire should be removed, they look as if they were put there for filling. You could also add smaller leafs scattered around the chamber, so that way may look more leafy (I don't know if it's "leafier")

Agreed, the green and brown leaves look like space fillers. Also remove the leaf on the bottom of the pit. It's a bit TOO symmetrical, I think just removing that would be a subtle but needed change.

:D That's what I was getting at the entire time. I like it, I just don't know what Link wanted done to the walls. I'm also thinking the room would need to be eventually expanded on the other side to allow for the prison.

Link wanted the walls to be like they are now, couse befoure i had it like a dirt wall. I think the prison will fit perfectly there or maybe the prison isn´t there yet, remember that its a hundred years before majora´s mask, and I did the hall

ok here is my try, oh and by the way, do you want the monkey sprites?, after all they make a big influence on majoras mask. Why not make a little village for the monkeys? it would look cute don´t you think?

About the hall, i could have clarified the thinness had I thought. I think it should only be 3 tiles wide.
About the monkeys having a village, nope. I dislike "cute" stuff and "silly" stuff in games like Zelda. SoT will be a bit more serious than typical Zelda and not cutesy at all.

That kinda goes against the what the MC style is. Since the graphic style is ussually reflective of the game mood/seriousness.
If you have serious character design then your not really spriting in MC style.

Hmm, I don't see where the harm is going against the graphic style. I think the graphic style of a game doesn't have to express the feeling of it. It's just the way it looks. The game will still have humour and whatnot. It just won't have silly looking characters or enemies.

Which program? Depends on what you prefer. You can use almost any editor. How much time does it take? All depends on what sources do you have. If you have the tiles, and the layout, it can be done in 5 minutes.

Now that you say it, yes, the rooms are too small for Link. I think you should make it bigger, Malefor.

It's something like that. It'll have a lot of things featured in MM, but this game is set 100 years before the original game.

It will require some areas to be remade. But it isn't by any means a remake. It's just in a somewhat familiar land. Due to the amount of time before MM some areas will be drastically different while others might be nearly identical. Assuming that you didn't read the project thread (or else you would've known at least that) I'd recommend you give it a read. It tells a bit about the game. (In my signature)

well yeah, know that i think about it, even though I havn´t played majora´s mask so i´m actuallyt doing the maps from whatching videos pictures... etc. i think by adding a few rocks here and there should do the trick but even though, ill try to do it bigger.

That's not really a stone chuchu, its more of a Mud ChuChu.
It has no stone on it, and still is retaining it's gooy composure.

Personally I think it looks fine, but I guess maybe making it more of a greyer shade of brown would help?
Also AP, Chuchus are "gooy"...if ya know what I mean

Just make sure you clean your poopdeck if there's an overload!
Gray/brown, honestly it could be both. Just look at pyramids, they're more of a shade of yellowish brown and that's still considered being made out of stone. Maybe to satisfy Plague's input, have two frames be colored grayish brown to show a "solidified" state.

My first choice for the stone was gray, but then I remembered about the ChuChu that change their form.

Well, Nintendo did change the Gray ChuChu's ability in ST (It could only be killed with sharp, pointy objects (arrows for instance, but you can't use the sword, because you get zapped if you do.).).

They're what I had in mind somewhat. I was actually wanting the Wind waker Chu chu's. The dark ones that turn to stone as an ability. But I have to check my thread to see what all enemies I was gonna put in. I may have intended a custom chu that was gonna be dark.

I think it looks good as it is, it was pretty hard for me to do becasuse I am not a good spriter, but I am still quite good and make sprites at a good standar.

Malefor, you've got some skills! I have one question though, the map on the right with the two brown rocks. Are those bombable because it looks like there isn't enough space to fit through there.

They must be bigger, to do not let the player pass through it. I mean, when you have a bombable rock in a game, do you make it with enough space to let the player pass thrpugh? No! You make it big enough that when the player touches it dies. Kidding. However, they should be bigger to fit perfectly in there.

I also noticed a ton of tiling errors on the whole map that is either caused by incorrect sprites/tiles and mapping.
Please do not take that as a criticism, Im just trying to help because having tiling errors in your map would be VERY tricky to use in a game when it comes to collisions.
I take it youre using MS Paint to make your maps/tiles?
I used to use MS Paint for maps, but I got loads of errors too, so I found something else recently called graphicsgale.
I highly recommend you give it a try and become familiar with its tools.
MS Paint simply takes too long and can lead to errors unless you are extremely careful. Its too much hassle keeping on top of tiling errors.
Just my 2 cents anyway. Great work otherwise, my friend!! :)

hey yous reilized something, the places he marked have stands that the player goes behind them, I don´t know if you´ll understand my meaning but those white wooden sticks, are quite high so link can go behind the making the sapce even bigger

its just its difficult to do it though... but ill try.
Its a very simple fix, my friend. You just need to adjust the placement of some of your sprites and tiles a few pixels until they line up with the grid.
I can fix it for you if you want?

When it comes to make sprites in the Minish Cap style, try to do custom work. With that I mean that don't use another character to edit from, like in this case Link. Every character don't have the same shape and facial expression as Link, that's what breaks a character from one and another. Also, when you are picking your palette, think about using colors with contrast and that can be readable. When I made the edit below, I had a hard time to seperate the colors from the hair, they are just to dark and too close to each other in the color scale. With this being said, I did an edit for you to look at on how it looks with a bit more contrast to the colors.

I understand what you said about the faces but I'm not sure if the palatte matters as much as you say. They both look good to me. Personally I like Malefor's bigger & messier hair as well as the color choice. Then again, I've been looking at the Vitin drawing for nearly a year so I could like it because it's more accurate.

Uhm, they're just recolored versions of the Mole Mitts. They're gauntlets, so you should think in using another sprite.

Gotta agree with Blaze. I have descriptions on the color pattern too, so make sure you read that before you try again. And if you're recoloring something instead of a fresh design then you may try using the Titan Mitt or something as a base.
