*MAJOR UPDATE*
Sorry for double-posting, but it is necessary now. I haven't said much of what's been going on on this project, so I'll say it now, here:
First of all: I'll soon lock this topic and create another one in the WIP section, because this isn't an
idea anymore; it doesn't belong to this section anymore. (@moderators: don't move this topic yet, I'll lock it and create a new one when the first demo is done.)
Second: what we've been working on?
The coding is progressing well. I'm doing it on C++ with SDL. There are a few drawing functions (example: zoomed blitting) not included in SDL (unless you use OpenGL), so I created a few software-accelerated functions for them. They're working perfectly and almost as fast as the standard drawing functions. Also, a bit of the movement engine is done; I might release a small demo soon.
Most of the characters characteristics, moves, stages, etc. have been chosen already.
The spriting is very slow, only 2 images of the templates list are done so far. :\
Music and backgrounds: nothing has been done yet.
Third: 3 characters have been chosen to be bosses so far (but I'm not going to say who, mwhahwahwahwaahwaaa
). But well, therefore, they aren't playable anymore, and 3 new characters were chosen to replace them. They are: Venus, Kleaver and 2awesome4apossum.
Fourth: I'm planning to make this project entirely public, so that anyone can see the resources (ex: the whole coding and the sprites) or help the project (editing a few sprites, making suggestions for the coding, etc.).
I wanted to have a board for this project at ZFGC (because it is a public game and it is being made for ZFGC), but I guess I actually can't at all. So we're currently using a board in a small forum called
RGF. You can register there and post if you want to, and you can see all the resources, use them (if you give credit), or help with them (credit will be given). ATTENTION: Guests can not view the board, you have to register to be able to view it.
Fifth: As said before, movement engine demo coming soon.
