Coding / Alternative Map Editor

Does anyone know if there is a good map/level editor out there that i can use to map my levels.
Somethings where it can, save as a picture file and i can upload it into game maker as a background. Then i can just making everything solid from there. putting tiles in GM is really annoying.

Anyone able to help me out?

Discussion / Suppose some one finishes an oot2d

Im not sure if this is the right place to post so if anything move it for me or something...whatever.

So I was thinking and i thought
im aware that their are 3 oot2d currently being worked on,but suppose one them
finish while the others are still WIP.what happens to the rest.They are probubly not going to get alot of attention afterwards,so what is this like a race or something?

HP:The Adventures of El-Pie-Oh

This is my second project Ive completed and my first original.
99% of the graphics were made by me,i bet you can tell.99% because i used like 1 or 2 sprites from other gamesbut their small unimportant sprites.
Anyway i started this project like 5 months ago then i had stoped for a while then decided to finish it finally.

The Story:


El-Pie-Oh is a super hero in a comic book series i make for my
friends and people at my school.The series is called happy people.
Anywho,Who the communist penguins living south of the HP city/republic decide to invade the happy people's country.In response the countries go into war
and as the two opposing countries battle the president of Hp city/republic/whatever is sent on a secret mission to destroy communist penguin military bases and to assassinate the king of Penguins.

The Game:

The game contains four levels.
El-pie-oh fights communism with his pie shot gun and some bombs.
Use his shotgun by pressing S and use his bombs by pressing CTRL.
to jump press A.You cannot just constanting be shooting your gun
so press the SPACE key to reload your shotgun with more pie ammo.
The games got everything front enemy tanks to suicide bombers.
