So, odd request, peeps:

I'm getting a gaming themed full sleeve, which is nearing completion, and I want a sprite of Link and Zelda to go on it. I want YOU GUYS to help me find one of each!

I'm quite fond of the MC sprite style, but I'm not opposed to considering other designs. If you want to see the sleeve so far, I can upload some pictures for you guys to mull over. Alright? Sound good? GO FOR IT.

And, yes, my favourite sprites will be TATTOOED, into my SKIN, FOREVER. :D

Saw it on the plane. Enjoyed it quite a lot... was awesome to see British actors I knew from other stuff really making the most of the material.

I'm sorry, but marijuana laws are retarded in the US.  Yea, so he had pot...big !@#$% deal, not like he went and killed someone.  I found out recently that this is the very reason Switzerland legalized smoking and possessing pot, but makes it illegal to sell, buy or grow it.  So, if you're caught smoking it, you don't get a rediculous criminal charge for something so stupid.

"London actor". I'm pretty sure the weed was grown in Essex. So, the UK.

And he was growing it. The amount he was producing, quite possibly dealing as well.

The law's the law, y'know? Gotta follow it.

Nothing inherently wrong with country. I don't listen to much that's strictly country, but because of its close links with American folk, a lot of the music I listen to does have a lot in common with country.

I don't see why it gets such a bad reputation. So many people say "Oh, I like every kind of music. Except country."

Hmmm, the white spikes on the orange one look weird.... oh well. My typical idea of a sea urchin is in a bright colour, like an orange or red. Though I guess they come in all sorts of colours.

Anyhow, yeah, left is better than right I think, though I dunno if the ones on the left would actually work better in a game alongside other sprites.....

Orange would be a more normal sea urchin colour.

Other than that, yeah, good.

Was the ending in the movie the one everyone complained about in the preview showings - that the threat isn't the genetically engineered "alien", but a framed Dr Manhattan? Personally, I think the idea works a little better - it removes American dominance from the equation, which wasn't really addressed in the original series.

Anyhow, the whole series kinda annoys me for some huge glaring factual omission: it makes a big deal of the Doomsday Clock being set at five minutes to midnight in their alternate world, showing how high tensions are, right? .... in the real world, 1985, the actual Doomsday Clock was set at THREE minutes to midnight. So, what, the world would be safer WITH a vaguely amoral, nuclear-powered superman being used at the whim of the US government - AND Nixon?

Did he learn English from Borat? Seriously, wtf. He got even more incoherent - and crap at the game - towards the end.

Looking to do Rush, recorded through a microphone (whichever category that comes under)...

Sadly, I'm going to be without internet access on the 21st (actually from the 15th through about the 29th) - so I'll probably have to submit it a lot earlier, right?

If I can prove I have the consoles, would an emul be wrong?
Wrong is a matter of ethics.

Legality wise, its illegal regardless of if you have the console or game. whether you choose to do it or not is up to you.

Actually, if you owned a copy of the game - and the copy on your computer hard drive was identical to that on the disc of the game - then using an emulator would be legal in the UK. I forget the law exactly, but British law makes allowances of producing copies of copyrighted digital media for personal use. Emulators aren't intrinsically illegal, and owning an additional digital copy of media that you own a license to is also legal.

I thought there was a law against it either way, because having the rom on your computer is creating an unautorised copy of the game. Or did they abolish that? orrrr am I thinking of the wrong country here?

Producing a second copy - or distributing any of the copies - would be unauthorised (I thinkit's only the one copy - I'll explain later why I might be wrong). The first copy is legal in the UK.

Works the same for music - however, this would mean that any copies of music on an iPod that were originally ripped off a CD are illegal - the first copy would be on the computer in iTunes.

I loved Chrono Trigger. I want the sequel. Problem.

IM IN THE BLOODY UK!!!!
and it's in the USA

So, if I was to get a copy into the UK, would it play on my PS2?
No. PAL and NTSC formats, remember?

Was there not some Freeloader-esque software for the PS/PS2? I'm sure there were ways to play import games on PAL-edition Sony consoles...

If it's for PC I'll buy it.

You could've spent three seconds googling the title to find out that, yes, the game is available for PC, as well as PS3 and Xbox 360.

EA has confirmed today that the hit J-horror game 'Dead Space' will be coming to the Wii! The game will be a port of the 360/PS3 title, and EA promises to keep it "high quality". The game is apparently due out earlier this year.
Well Dead space sure is an interesting horror game, now lets hope that EA makes it a "high quality" port! :)

source

I think EA + "High Quality" have never gone together... Ever...

EA makes shovelware and crappy ports :\ I'm not expecting this to be decent

EA have actually been making some good new intellectual property, y'know. Dead Space and Mirror's Edge... didn't sell very well compared to their "shovelware and crappy ports", so maybe that's why they made more money beforehand.

It's goner suck. All X to movie conversions are terrible :S. I always hope I'll be proved wrong, but I never am :(.

Lord of the Rings. Fight Club. Batman Begins. The Dark Knight. Iron Man. Spider-Man. A Beautiful Mind. Casino Royale.

And the list goes on.

Entertainment / Re: Good indie music?
« on: February 03, 2009, 01:10:07 am »
Well, I have been into indie music for a while, I enjoy it alot the main problem I have is that I don't know many bands or songs soo.. can anyone recommend me some bands or songs or both :P? I have some of Franz Ferdinand, Artic Monkeys, the Fratellis, Stereophonics, The Black Keys, Block Party, MGMT, The Subways, etc..

The main problem is that I have like one song from each band >_> (I would buy the cd but it is really hard to find good indie cds around here.)

None of those bands are indie. With maybe two (or three) exceptions, they're all signed to major labels, and don't play "indie" music.
D:!??! really wikipedia and last.fm is lying to me then. Can you mention some indie bands then?

Yep, pretty much. Too many acts are being put under the umbrella of "indie" these days when they shouldn't. Apart from the Artic Monkeys and the Black Keys, all those bands are signed to major labels, and shouldn't be considered indie.

Even then, in terms of the genre, they fall under all different kinds of genres and calling them all indie is misleading. However, "indie" doesn't really exist as a pure genre. Still, check out stuff like Los Campesinos!, Bright Eyes, Maria Taylor, Matt Barber, Arcade Fire, Interpol, Belle and Sebastian, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, all those kinds of guys. (I probably over-represented the folk-indie scene in that list, and under-represented all the other scenes, paying mild lip service to post-punk revival, baroque pop and twee ((and, of course, tweexcore)) - still, take the time to look up other bands. What's sometimes helpful is to look up an indie record label, and check out who's signed to them - my favourite labels at the moment have been Matador, Saddle Creek and Jagjaguwar.)

So, uh, yeah. =D
