Use a scaling algorithm.
Mmm, would help if the developers page wasn't suspended :P

Use a scaling algorithm.

That's another issue :p a lot of people here use Gamemaker. Not the best for that :P

(*is still *pointlessly* working on 2xSAI for GM*)

That too. There's not many ways you could implement such an algorithm that could run in realtime. GM's pixel checking functions are really slow.

I see, but I find making a game as lazily as possible a waste of anyones time.
I've seen some fan games with bigger graphics, its not all that hard.
And even without big graphics, how about some ORIGINAL GFX.

Hah...lazily as possible.  That's really funny, have you ever even tried to program?

Also, the last time this forum tried to make an original graphics set, it failed.  See the ZFGC Style thread in the graphics section.

How does programming relate more to the graphics than making the graphics themselves?  Most artists are lazy, I myself, an artist, am lazy.

I didn't say that.  You pretty much said that we're making games lazily.  So I asked you, have you ever tried programming.  Because I will tell you right now, it is by no means a lazy task.

In the context of this topic, it was directed toward graphics design.  I've already stated I'm not very good at programming, I don't see why its necesary to continue on in that subject.
Original graphics aren't hard to make.

Um... excuse me? I've worked on making original graphics... to say its not hard to make is pretty much a lie. You have to come up with the process of developing a style that matches your game well then make sure that EVERYTHING you then crank out is in adherence with that otherwise worlds look out of place and things just get messy. One of the least intensive means (Though I'm not saying its easy by any stretch of the imagination) of producing graphics for a game is through spriting and keeping it at rather small resolutions (16x16, 32x32 for tiles). You can get away with less detail and it still looks good, even if scaled up, and it just really suits a fan gamers needs. However if you're calling on fan game graphic artists to start making everything in High Res that's a tall order... and won't happen... originial IP maybe... Fan Game? No.

As a side note, hats off to all programmers out there, its a !@#$% of a job and I'd hate to do it but without them our graphics don't do much besides sit there. <3

If graphics and programming were easy, then there would be a lot more C&Ds out there.

Bottom Line: Fangames aren't going to have high res graphics <_< Nobody here cares to put that much effort into it. The ones that do are making their own IPs :p

Skulltula Amulet had a lot of potential. I would LOVE to work on a game like that. Noseblunt has a point, Clearness. If you care so much, and if you're decent with graphics or programming, then why don't you start a game or see if you can carry on the Skulltula Amulet project?

You strike me as a person who would walk into a historical art museum and at the end of the tour say "That's it?"

You know, I'd like to practice programming more so I can do solo projects.  Or find a programmer who'll give out what I give them.

@Jeod XD, I'm hard to please!

I'm actually semi-interested in learning how to do the HD graphics shown in Skulltula Amulet. I'm far from good programming though; I'd really like to do HD graphics in C# or C++ so they can get the programming they deserve.

The graphics look like they were done in flash, or a program much like that.

If so, then sweet. I'm also going to buy that package with photoshop, dreamweaver, and flash when I have enough money for it.
