It's that time again for a random-ass serious thread from yours truly.

I've been on ZFGC for nearly two years now, but it was only in the last year did I actually rise to prominence. The reason? This:

Initially intended as a joke to poke some fun at Drilly, The ZFGC Chart of Masculinity it has since evolved into a ZFGC meme of sorts, as have I. People have stated that I should father their children, adopt them, etc. all because of that chart. Admittedly, I went along with it, which would probably explain my popularity. Now, I'm not complaining, but I just have to ask: why did this become such a huge deal?

EDIT: This is NOT a discussion on who is on the chart. If you want to !@#$% about your position or why you're not on it, do it into a pillow.

Hear the haunting words (They'll find you alone)
lost children with no heart are crying (Turning their hearts into stone)
and you're the lost mother they're calling
Go now, run and hide (seek more than vengeance)
I hear them crying at night (your pain is their satisfaction)
outside when the planets are falling (for the rest of time)
They want to feel and know you hear them (Go now, run and hide)

WTF?  Why am I so low on da list?  I at least went into the Army...that shows I got some balls, don't it?  It's not my fault that I had a friggin asthma attack running !@#$% 3 miles with it being 25 degress outside...How was I supposed to know?...lol...Come on...I should be higher than that...

Plus, I own guns!  I have a Yugoslavian SKS from 1953ish and a Mosin Nagant from WWII(that is a baddass rifle, let me tell you...I love shooting it...it's a !@#$% cannon!)...
I go hunting...motocross...come one...You know I am man material...lol

That chart rolled around before you joined the army or made any mention of your hobbies or gun collection.

I'd say it has something to do with humanity's innate desire to be better than the next guy and to prove themselves as being worthy in all aspects of being.  In this case, masculinity and/or popularity amongst nerds on a forum.  We nerds are by and large stereotyped as scrawny, pencil-necked, socially inept basement dwellers.  It is only to be expected that something like that chart would become a point of interest.

Still, proving yourself to be manlier than the other members here is similar to winning an argument on the internet -- even if you're the manliest guy on a forum, you're still a nerd.

I like to think of myself as a Geek, really. I don't know, it just seems a little more appropriate. (I once found a list of differences between Geeks and Nerds. I'll see if I can't find it.)

Anyway, I guess you could be right, but recall that before posting that, I was by and large unknown.

I suppose in a way it's a form of infamy.  Lots of members here have abruptly gone from relative unknowns to practically being hero worshiped.  More often than not it's unclear how or why the change happens... it just kinda does.  I guess most forums have a bit of a hive-mentality going on -- one member starts referring to another member in some way, then another starts to, and before long the member is being mentioned in some way in almost every topic made for one reason or another.

Just come out as a girl. Simple as that ;)

And that chart is just another ZFGC fad as usual I'm sure. I mean come on "ZFGC. Serious Business." nuff said.

It was a fad back in 2007. It spawned something that has lasted a lot longer.

Things seem to linger here and it strikes to the core of the male ego and sense of masculinity so naturally it'll be around forever. As I learned from my brother, men hate to feel inferior and love a good (and mildly humorous) ego inflater (ie. Chart).
