What the crap were they thinking? Their art department should be burnt to the ground.

Yeah, I'm not complaining though because they gave TP a 9.5/10

Hmm... Kinda nice that they wanted to make it so he could actually have facial expressions, but that is rather crappy character design...

I'm not going to complain about that either, or atleast not until I find out what Wind Waker got, and find out that they rated Twilight Princess higher than Wind Waker.

Give it a few years Tom will change again he always does >_> and DAMN 10 years?? I first started watching Toonami when Re-Boot was on 0.o!!
Title: Re: RIP Toonami
Post by: Bboy on March 19, 2007, 06:42:32 pm
I have only seen Tom in his current design, because the last time Toonami changed, he stayed the same. I'm afraid that they will get rid of Tom and have that orange guy take over. Even if his design is awful, at least Tom still sounds cool.

Yeah, I'm not complaining though because they gave TP a 9.5/10

They gave is something pretty good, but it wasn't 9.5, I forget what it was, it was really high, because I remember Tom saying, "16 years and still going strong." I just remembered, WW was my second Zelda game. o.o

you and I have very different opinions of "good" anime/action cartoons. Toonami is what gives the younger viewers their introduction to anime by airing shows aimed at children such as Naruto, Sailor Moon, One Piece, and DragonBall Z. Their list of good anime aired consists of:

Outlaw Star
.heck//SIGN

I used to watch it quite a bit as a kid, but now I just can't stand it.

This makes me laugh. Ever since they quit showing Rurouni Kenshin and Cyborg 009, Toonami has gone downhill. It funny to see that they can make it ever worse.

doesn't toonami still show trinity blood?  that's a good show, the rest is crap, but this is at least good.  by the way, did you know that adult swim censors more stuff than toonami?

What the hell are you talking about.  Just look at Eureka 7 and Blood+ on Adult Swim.  They have a lot of warnings for that show and they show all blood scenes.  Then look at Naruto on Toonami.  Blood is edited out, language is altered somewhat (no alcohol references), etc.

Anyway, I dislike what they did to Tom, but some of the layout changes are refreshing.
Title: Re: RIP Toonami
Post by: Mitsu on March 20, 2007, 12:15:22 am
seriously, in all honesty, it's true(read it on some anime news site complaining about censors in the u.s.).
Title: Re: RIP Toonami
Post by: 4Sword on March 20, 2007, 12:21:15 am
Adult Swim is allowed to get away with more because the FCC does not control the airwaves at certain hours of the night.  That is why some TV stations broadcast unedited footage containing everything that would otherwise be edited then.  Can you show me a link?  They do censor some things, but for the most part their work is left untouched.  Things like nudity though are removed as they are for basically anything because that is one of the things that you cannot show openly without special permissions on either Toonami or Adult Swim.  Again though, can I see the link?

Ok now you just sound stupid, none of those robots in that video are any of Toms original designs, and all the Toms are the same robot. Tom is serious business.
^^4 actually, you forgot Multar.  But this is a disgrace XD
Thats what I meant. 1. Little UFO guy 2.UFO guy and moltar 3.Tom
Title: Re: RIP Toonami
Post by: 4Sword on March 20, 2007, 12:59:33 am
I thought that either Tom died in some thing they were doing and then Tom 2.0 came in.  I do not know why I am thinking that though, it was probably just an upgrade.

Now that I think about it though, I am going to miss the Absolution.  That ship was awesome.
Title: Re: RIP Toonami
Post by: Delko on March 20, 2007, 01:06:13 am
Yeah, Tom was "killed" than brought back in a new body. Toonami should just have its own 30min show about Tom (The old Tom, not this new faggotry filled one)
And to anyone wonder wtf this is all about, Heres a comparison, (http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/3782/tomnx4.png)
Tom 1 through 3 and the left, new Tom on the right.

Yeah I just checked:
Quote
This special, The Intruder, was a mini-series featuring the block's mascot TOM in an adventure that had him defending the Absolution, his new companion Sara, and the Toonami block from this red, gelatinous being that devoured everything in site. Before it was over, TOM died an honorable death. Just like in comics, nobody stays dead forever and TOM was reborn into a new body and defeated the demonic intruder. The aftermath of The Intruder remained a part of the block throughout the fall leading up to the debut of the Blue Submarine No. 6 miniseries and the relaunch of Toonami Movies as In-Flight Movies.

I remember that pretty well. I loved that whole "Intruder" thing back when I was a kid, and TOM 2.0 kicked ass.

Wind Waker got a 10/10 on Toonami.
The quote that people were referencing was:
"Toonami gives Wind Waker a 10 out of 10. 16 years and going strong"
watch it here! (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9127825296324167155&sourceid=searchfeed)

And on the subject of the thread:
I never watched Toonami a great deal.. but oh my, what have they done.. :o

This is a very late reply, buut...

REBOOT!! AWESOME SHOW!!!!1!!! 111!

Okay enough being reverted to my childhood.

I used to watch it a lot, now that I think about it I remember back when they changed Tom. It pissed me off, a lot XD

DBZ I used to be a fan of... now I'm against it. Dear god, could they have dragged the show out a few more episodes per season? I mean I didn't get quite enough of Goku's screaming aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! in those episodes... (sarcasm... for those who don't get it)

I did love buu though... best DBZ character, hands down. (The fat one)

But yeah... I really don't care about toonami anymore... or adult swim. I for a while was watching a half hour of TV a week, but now metalocalypse's first season ended and I watch pretty much none. (For those who tried to watch it and don't get it. You wouldn't, you have to be a metalhead, and not extremely vain.)

Anyway, the new Tom looks like something out of that shitty Robots movie. I mean, what happened to the days of the badass Tom? (Tom 2 and 3, wot wot) Dammit, 4Kids...

At least his voice is still badass.

Much better. :) The Naruto dub is actualy faithful to the original, unlike One Piece. Sure, a few things are censored so they can keep the original target audience, but it gets released uncut on DVD eventually anyways.

However in the Japanese version Shino says Annoying not Troublesome. for some reason i can't remember what Naruto said though I know it wasn't 'Believe it'.

ALSO:

Ino: "BILLBOARD BROW"
Sakura: "INO-PIG"

Yeah, Tom looks like Thomas the Train now, but the real focus is the anime, so why bother? If you like Tom so much, go write some fanfics and draw bad pictures nao.

I'd watch it because its one of the greatest animes ever, next to Kenan & Kel.
