Seeing the FFIV topics got me to thinking.  The one genre(there are a couple more) I really excel at in all it's forms(action, first-person, menu-based, turn-based, D&D) is the role-playing game genre.

Every FF game except FF12, I have beaten in under 15 hours per game.  I have gotten every character in every game to level 99(some only 50 ie FF1 for NES; some 100 ie FF8)in under 35 hours per game.  It just seems after you spend time with one, you can breeze through others.

Like sports games and RTS games.

So, I was just wondering, you guys have any type of genre you pick up and just seem to blaze though even if it's your first time on a specific game?

A very prime example of that for me was Mass Effect on Normal difficulty.  Had that game breezed through in 9 hours.

Mass Effect was extremely short, though. Especially if you didn't do any of the side quests.

I'm killer at FPSes but I don't really enjoy them. :/

Other than that, I'm good at breezing through adventure, racing and platform games, though puzzle games and such, I enjoy but never really get through.

Actually, one genre I really enjoy but suck ass at is strategy games. Ironic, considering I'm quite competent at chess...

Some RPGs leave me stumped as well. Paper Mario being the prime example of that atm. I just... don't get it.

First person shooters and a few RTSs (Starcraft and AoE2). Also the smash brothers series.

Slaves of Armok 2: Dwarf Fortress

It's the only game I've played in awhile actually XD Maybe it's because once it gets going I can just leave it running whilst I'm doing other stuff?

Graphically it's very simple, but the game itself is very complicated.

RPG games for sure. That is all I was ever really good at, or played much. However I always took my time. I still finished them quick because I did nothing but play all day and all night usually but. I never tried for speed runs ever. I don't think those games should be rushed through.

Hardest game ever. Even with graphical patches, sometimes it's still difficult to know what's going on. Then you have the fact that once you get going, you get randomly attacked by, like, EVERYTHING. D:

If it's not Goblins, it's Hippy Cannibalistic Elves, Undead Elephants, Regular Elephants, Crocodiles, Deer, Werewolves, Wolves...you get the idea. I remember in one of my first attempts I built a moat around my fortress. The moat got filled with Carp. Many Dwarves died...
