Discussion / What makes a good 2D zelda dungeon?
« on: August 07, 2009, 01:09:34 pm »
Hi, I'm working tediously on a Zelda Fan Game and what normally holds me back is level design. How would I go about making interesting and slightly challenging dungeons? I could use a couple pointers and maybe examples. If I can tackle THIS, then I can hopefully FINISH the game.

[personal]
Tommorow I am going to gamestop to find an unpatched copy, if I dont succeed, Ill go to block buster or some generic rental store. I am twitching with excitement!
[/personal]

OLD:
It has been discovered that the sony did not fully patch the GTA:LCS exploit as fw 3.03 has been hacked again using the original copy of GTA:LCS (Not the later patched versions) so this means that homebrew will soon be available to all current psp firmwares. I feel kinda bad for sony right now because everyones acting all cocky and saying "0 L00k that newb S0ny g0t 0WNT"

For a full article on the 3.03 exploit go here.
OR read this:

ou remember that the only thing holding us back from a downgrader for v3.03 was the lack of a user-mode exploit?

Well, we don't like to be held back from anything, so we went back to basics and looked over some of the old exploits.  And what do you know?  We found one!

We did a little digging into the old GTA exploit, and discovered that it hadn't been properly patched after all.  We'll leave it as an exercise for the interested reader to figure out exactly how we got past the patch (and to give Sony a little while longer before the head-slapping "Doh!" moment Tongue out).

But the short version is that we can now run code again via Grand Theft Auto : Liberty City Stories.  You want some proof?  Check out the Goofy Hello World download below.  Here's a little screenshot:

http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/images/stories/flamehw.jpg

Some details on how to use it:

    * You need an original, unpatched GTA:LCS game.  See here and here for tips on how to check your version, although it can be confusing. The new copies that you find in the shops now will not work.
    * This only works for Liberty City Stories, not Vice City Stories.
    * Extract the files from the ZIP into the /PSP/SAVEDATA folder on your memory stick.
    * Start the GTA game, and enjoy the feeling of freshly-minted homebrew :D

And what of the future?  Well, we should have a 3.03 downgrader ready within the week, using this exploit.  Watch this space!

Took a while, I like how it turned out ;D
I made it for a competition on an online game (graal online)

I think I made it too round, not segmented enough and the eye lighting kinda throws people off. Oh well, I already sent in my application  :P

MC & FS / [MC] MC Moblin, Darknut
« on: July 22, 2006, 06:34:11 am »
Hi, I cant seem to find very many MC enemy sprites. I mostly need the moblin sheet. If you have a sheet of it, can you be sure to include walking and idle? An attacking frame would be nice too.
Also, I need Darknuts or Iron Knuckle sprites just not as much as moblins. They would make a sweet mini boss.
I would rip them my self but my VisualBoyAdvance emulator is like corrupt or something -_-

Thanks!
Credit will be givin.

Coding / I need help to find a bug in my mario and luigi engine.
« on: July 11, 2006, 09:45:53 am »
I need you help to find a bug in this engine. Its a mario and luigi style platform engine. It uses 3d detection to land on platforms and stuff, A minute ago I found a glitch where you fall through the platform when going at a certain fall speeds (not sure).

I need you to jump around from platforms and jump off stuff and see if you go through the ground (doesnt include ground level). If you do, thats bad for me and I will have to fix a ton of crap, if you dont find any glitch then i will be happy =]

THANKS!

BTW: I messed up with a certain wall sprite, youll know it cause it looks one size but its actualy taller than the others around it.

How do you draw and shade in MC style? And what about LttP style? How many colors do you use, how bright? How many shades for each color? What are the differences between the two?
