I need a MC styled Mothula as the first boss of my fangame, but I'm not sure whether this looks MC styled enough...  Opinions?

For starters, I don't believe that uses any colours from the actual Minish Cap palette.  It's far from being a Minish Cap-style sprite as well.  I recommend recolouring it using the MC palette.  It's still not going to fit the graphics style though.

Only 3 colors in that are not from minish-cap pallete, and they are all just lighter versions of colors from the MC pallete

In that case, it's just poor colour choice.

I made my own recolour that I think would look better in an MC style game.

Mothula is boss of the forest themed temple so honestly I don't thin keither of our color schemes fit all that well... I just choos those colors cause they were mothula's original colors... Perhaps I ought find some different colors? Did you actually edit Mothula at all, or just recolor it?

It's just a recolour.  I'll make another version that might look better in a forest theme…

I think the colors you have chosen are too dark and lacking the contrast needed to fit in with Minish Cap. Minish cap was a very bright and cartoony game, especially the sprites. Even if the colors are from the palette, they were most likely used for darker shadows than to fill a whole sprite.

Also, there are other things to consider when it comes to the style of Minish Cap, and that's the technical aspect of the pixels. Minish cap sprites had a lot more anti-aliasing than previous Zelda games. Everything was a lot smoother and technical so looked a lot different than the sprites from say, Link to the Past. They also avoided techniques like dithering(as seen in the antennas).

I should also mention, lastly, that LttP failed technically in pixel art when it came to sprites and such. It had a lot of pillow-shading, something you don't really see in Minish Cap since pixel artists have improved a lot since then.

Whoa, thanks!
I wasn't really trying to use this as a request thread, but this is helpful. I'll probably see if I can get someone to help me with spriting when I to the point I can make a thread. I'm to early in development to use this yet, but I wanted to see how well I could do. My plan for this boss, is that when you enter the room, he is chained by vines. He flys around and shoots his weird beam-things, though his range of flight is limited by the vines. You just have to slash at him until he rages free of the vines. Then you can tear one of his wings by slashing it wish your sword. However, he will land on one of the rooms four pillars, where you can't reach him, and heal. You have to use the dungeon's item, Vine Seeds, which cause vines to grow wherever they are throw, to  cover the four pillars in spiked vines. When Mothula tries to land on the spiked pillar, it is injured and falls to the grounds, open for slashing. Rinse and Repeat. Anyways, thanks I'll work more on choosing proper palletes.

Are you experinced in MC styled spriting? If so, may I ask a few questions?
