Yerp, i'm making an open source 2D engine using C++ with openGL and DirectX.  Because I have no life of course.  I'm needin' some ideas of stuff to add.  So far i've got some physics going, that's about it.  I'm thinkin' of allowing some isometric stuff as well.

some sort of scripting language support would be liked a lot, you have no idea how much Infinitus's FusionScript has come in handy when I'm screwing around with my C# projects :P

I recommend lua, mostly because I like it XD

There's such a double standard about religion in the modern world. Catholics can gather, wear white robes, and say "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" and be considered normal.

But if my friends and I gather, wear black robes, and say  "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", we're considered cultists.

Ooh, a new engine. :D Make it have a very user-friendly (but not restricting) GUI. :)

Or how bout a DOS-Like command box? That sounds much more power-efficient.

Best advice is to get functionality down before you go about thinking of how user friendly you want the final product to be :).

I would get ideas from game maker and better enhance them...
