You should use the graphics you are comfortable with but stay consistent.

plus if you change anything and leave the coding alone, your game might look very odd, so keep with what you like, for my I really like gbc styles but I prefer lttp over them, I considered the two perfect for creating a game.

If you're far into the game then it might not be a good idea, so if you're going to switch you should probably do it as soon as possible

you should know yourself what you want and what you can do yourself instead of asking anyone at anytime

Well, I do know what I want, but often it seems that other people's input proves useful. Like the HUD problem- I didn't know about it!

User input is useful in correcting mistakes yes. But for adding features it is less so. A horse can be useful or it will not be. It all depends on how you use it. For example you might want to ask yourself does your game have great open fields or does it take a long time to get from one end of the map to the other with little for the player to offer. Isn't there another transportation system in place, like running boots or teleportation.

Well if you want to lol, you can maybe add the horse if the map you are using for the field.  Or for objective purposes such as, trying to get away from bandits, trying to perform what was done in OOT(gerudo valley), or something else lol,  Or what else did you ten to put the horse in for instead of traveling?  ;)
