10 min. video I just recorded of me playing a variety of Phish songs meshed together with jam bridges that were all improv. (and a Frank Zappa tune for a bit. Cookies to whoever can name it first). 10 min. video with relatively few flubs (though I definitely heard a few while playing it :( )

Hopefully less flubs next time, cheers ZFGC :)

Ill band. Anyone else heard of them? Wish I was seeing them when they come to Boston at the House of Blues pretty soon but I already bought two tickets to the Phish concert in Worcester in December. If only I had a job and could go to every concert I wanted to >_<

Graphics / Mother 3 color palette? (Found it hurr)
« on: August 11, 2010, 09:54:23 pm »
Me and ex-ZFGC veteran cb43569 (Soapy) are working on a remake of Mother 1 in Mother 3 graphics using GM8. I've been having trouble finding a Mother 3 color palette. If anyone can find that it'd be much appreciated. Once we have more progress I'll make an actual topic for the game.

What are some good computer games (new or old) (cheap or free) that I can waste a lot of time on and get really into them? My 360 stopped reading discs so I've been out of gaming for a while.

Luckily I can still play downloaded games, meaning I've recently logged countless hours in Geometry Wars, Pacifism mode (high-score is 81,000,000 mother fuckers). Just recently got bored of it after I topped all my friend's scores, the highest of which was 62,000,000.

Entertainment / Deadmau5 is a pretty cool guy
« on: July 20, 2010, 07:05:51 pm »
Deadmau5 is a techno artist that isn't just good for a cool looking avatar (Though I hear he specializes in that too), he also makes cool techno songs. I've only really gave a listen to Ghosts N Stuff and 8-bit, both of which are very good songs. Anyone else familiar with Deadmau5, or similar techno artists? I find his stuff a lot different than Daft Punk, the only other techno band I've really listened to (I'm still new to exploring the genre obviously). I also like his stuff a lot more than Daft.

Definitely keeping my eye on this. Do I smell something innovative?

I love the way this guy talks. "So this is fun, but let's make it even more, fun"

Entertainment / Your "games of the year"
« on: June 17, 2010, 12:16:57 am »
What games do you plan on purchasing in 2010? And I'd rather not look at any ridiculous long lists of every game being released. If you have that many just do like a top ten or something.

Only ones I'm probably going to get this year are...

Definitely Fallout: New Vegas
Definitely Call of Duty: Black Ops
Probably Portal 2
Possibly X-COM

Interplay finally got around Bethesda's legal crap and is doing sign-up for early beta testing for their game Fallout Online. I for one, am excited for the first time over an MMO.

Notice the writing etched into the table saying "THE MASTER LIVES" and "HAROLD"

That's Harold.

Entertainment / Things with a cult following, <3
« on: May 31, 2010, 09:50:18 pm »
I just sort of realized recently that I am in love with most things that have a cult following. For example,
the Mother series (described as having a cult following)
the original Fallout games (described as having a cult following)
Donnie Darko (described as having a cult following)
A Clockwork Orange (film and book) (described as having a cult following)
Akira (film) (described as having a cult following)
Grateful Dead (described as having a cult following)
Phish (described as having a cult following)

Anyone here have any recommendations for video games or movies (or other medias) that have a cult following?

The first look trailer on Kotaku gave me a throbbing boner. I'm ready for some Vietcong Zombies.

Anyone else excited? And just to be safe...

Because I'm sure one is one it's way right now.

Don't get any huge lists in here either, I'm just curious to know what a few (5 at most) of your favorite bands are. My top three are without a doubt:

Phish: Can't wait to see Phish 3D, and hopefully one of their concerts this summer.
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Can't wait for their next studio album, but it won't have John Frusciante which is sad.
Led Zeppelin: Unfortunately they are done and there's nothing more to look forward to.

They can be stylish, beautiful, violent, and creative. But should they be considered an art form? What do you guys think about this?

Discussion / Come Hell or High Water: A Wizard of Acria
« on: April 28, 2010, 02:59:58 am »
For centuries the frogs have lived in cities built in the shallow waves near the country of Acria. The men of Acria used to hunt the frogs, and the frogs would now and then come ashore to kill and steal from the men. Eventually the Acrians formed an empire, and the king of Acria signed a peace treaty with the frogs.

Hundreds of years have passed, and the frogs are living in poverty and suffer from overpopulation. They can only live on land or shallow water, and the Acrians have forbid them to move ashore. It wasn't long before the frogs declared war on Acria. Within a few months they had taken nearly the entire island. The Acrian army surrendered, and the frogs built a new capital city. An old wizard from the Acrian port town of Crux was tired of living under their rule. And so, alone, he set off to the capital city to kill the king.

Arrow keys: Move and jump
Shift: Hold down to run
Enter: Menu
A: Heal wounds
S: Cast selected spell
D: Quick select spell

You gain experience points every time you defeat an enemy or finish a level. With enough experience points you will level up. Every time you level up you gain more HP and can heal more wounds at a time. Every three levels you will learn a new spell. You can also learn various spells from mage books scattered across Acria if you can find them.

Natural Spells:
Curse: Temporarily poisons the nearest enemy.
Fire Cast: Throws a burst of flame at the nearest enemy.
Bind: Temporarily freezes the nearest enemy.
Dead Rise: Raises dead soldiers to fight alongside you.
Shape Change: Temporarily change into a hawk, the wizard's animal of choice.
Soul Snack: Drains nearby enemy's health, and adds to your own.
Soul Devour: Like Soul Snack, only stronger.
Every Key: Unlock any locked door.

Mage Book Spells:
Heavy Curse: Like Curse, only stronger.
Heavy Fire: Like Fire Cast, but stronger.
Long Bind: Like Bind, only longer.
Long Shape Change: Like Shape Change, only longer.
Dead Warp: Raises the dead, then warps them into monstrous allies.
Soul Eater: Eats from only one sole, but much stronger than Soul Devour.

Just what I have so far for a concept. When I get around to it I'll hopefully be making this with a friend in Blitzmax. What do you guys think? I'm all super open to ideas at this point too.

Entertainment / Anyone else like Say Anything?

So I've been listening to some Say Anything lately. Anyone else like this band? What are some of your favorite songs? (Not looking for their most popular songs because I already know those)

Edit: I'm going to post some videos for people who have not heard of Say Anything.

Also the singer is bipolar, so that's funny too. :P
