I'd rather play the game all at once rather than having little demos ruining the final product.

I thought that would be better too.

Quote
I hope to be able to play through many puzzles too.

They're my favourite parts of Zelda games, of course I'm going to have puzzles, and lot's of them too.

Quote
Also I hope you don't forget that when you get hit link should jump back a little, that was one of the most annoying things in your first game that I noticed.

Look closely at the screens.  ;)

Quote
Maybe even secret rooms, not involved in the actual gameplay with references to other games, or anything would be awesome.  Can't wait to see more!

Well I have plenty of little nods towards both other Zelda games and DU. As for secrets, I'm definately going to reward perfectionists if that means anything.

Well I'm going to change the hearts but that's low on my priority list (in fact it's after finishing the main game) as for the hud, the only info I needed to add was on the pause menu. Uh oh, does that mean Imfletcher has planned yet another twist? I wonder.

Oh and a progress update, I'm done up to the end of the first dungeon (With a neat pharoh type boss). I "COULD" release a demo soon in theory (and a huge one at that) but if people like it enough they may become antsy to play the real thing. Also I'm thinking it'd be more fun to discover the entire game at once rather than already having it 1/5th beat before release.

Revolution- Never liked most games Nintendo push out...to many remakes/sequals, not enough originality and WAY too childish.

Yes I'm a Nintendo fan, but what you said isn't entirely true. Just because a character from another game is recycled doesn't make it unoriginal. For example, Super Mario Sunshine is almost completely different from Mario Party. Also, there's a difference between family friendly and childish. Sure things like Zelda and Metroid don't have blood or guts but I definately wouldn't call them childish. Even a fruity game like Pikmin is still quite complex and fun for all ages. As for the originality department, I'd say Nintendo is the only company that's truly trying to be different, hell they're risking an entire console on it.

I just can't stand simple assumptions like that.

Wll I didn't say I wasn't going to release *ANYTHING*, just nothing important. Maybe I'll put up a new screen or two heh.

Where are those other sprites from...? Chrono Trigger?

No sir. Everything is either FSA, ALttP, or custom/edited.

It's looking excelent. Can you post something about the story?

I haven't even posted gameplay details yet and probably won't for some time. You see I'm trying out the Nintendo method of revealing games.  ;)

Revolution for me. Not so much because of the controller or the virtual console, I'm just really looking forward to the games Nintendo hinted at. The new Mario game, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime, etc. I was fully satisfied with all these games on the Gamecube and want more. Heh and I guess that's all there is to it.

Bah Power Rangers were just a poor man's Godzilla. No really, the "Megazord" or whatever fights were basically the same except really lame.

Well I absolutely love the film but I do think it's a tad bit overrated. There are a lot of "forgotten" movies which are a heckuva lot more deserving of a real fan base.

Entertainment / Violating Missy Muffet
« on: April 06, 2006, 08:49:23 pm »
Just something I whipped up for a school assignment.

Violating ???Missy Muffet???
A rather twisted tale of urban horror courtesy of Kyle Van Dongen

It was one in the morning but for Missy Muffet, the night was still young. She combed her long blonde hair and applied the brightest red lipstick she could find to her large pouting lips. Missy Muffet quickly pulled up her fishnet stockings and buttoned up her leather skirt then left for a hard night of drinking and casual frolicking.

Before long Missy Muffet had arrived at ???The Tuffet???, a popular place for singles looking for a quick fling. She strutted into the establishment winking and grinning at every man she passed before sitting on a stool next to the bartender.

???What???ll it be Missy Muffet???? he asked. Missy Muffet lit a cigarette then replied, ???Curds and Whey, I want to forget who I am for a while.??? The bartender smiled, ???Whatever you say.??? Within seconds Missy Muffet was enjoying the best ???Curds and Whey??? she had ever eaten.

In fact, Missy Muffet was so into her ???Curds and Whey??? that she didn???t notice a burly man enter the building. He was dressed in black with spider tattoos all over his arms. In fact, he even had one atop his bald head. The man quickly made his way to the bar and sat down beside Missy Muffet.

???Want to come back to my place???? he asked. Missy Muffet was startled and could barely reply, ???I???I???m sorry, but you???re not really my type.??? The man ignored Missy Muffet???s reply and continued his thought, ???The name is Spyder, I love all things with legs such as yours.??? Missy Muffet stood up. ???Don???t leave or I???ll shoot you,??? said Spyder who quite suddenly brandished a small revolver.

Missy Muffet stood quite still so Spyder was not aware of the fact that her hand was already wrapped around a can of mace. ???I???m serious,??? said Spyder. Suddenly, Missy Muffet threw her arm into the sky and squeezed the can. A thin mist emitted from the nozzle burned Spyder???s eyes. He screamed and fell off his chair. Missy Muffet dashed to the nearest phone and dialed 911.

Spyder was arrested by the police moments later and Missy Muffet finished off her ???Curds and Whey???. She had survived her encounter, but was traumatized for life.  She immediately changed her ???bad girl??? ways and lived the rest of her life as a shepherd in Ireland under the alias of Little Miss Muffet. Ah, but perhaps the most significant change of all was that she never again traveled without a full can of ???Raid??????er, mace.

Wow thanks for all the positive feedback. I'll be sure to put the actual ALttP hearts in a bit later on.

Oh and a small update: I just finished the entire opening and the large town that serves as the main hub. Now I'm going to start designing the other five areas and their respective dungeons. I'll probably post more screens as I finish those areas.

835
Well I wrote two screenplays for movies I hope people will one day make.

"Spirits" is basically about a guy who discovers a portal to the afterlife in his apartment wall. He quickly finds out that inhaling the spirits that leak out are the ultimate hallucigen and begins to market them.

"The Final Days of Paradise" is a more serious script along the lines of Donnie Darko. Basically the main character is a writer who is experiencing a lot of weird things and trying to make sense of them. The big twist halfway through is that he's actually the last man on Earth and his subconscious mind has fallen into a state of self defense (you know, so he's seeing things.)

I'm also working on a third one but that's nothing now.

Oh and just for the fun of it, I'd love to one day make a really dark Godzilla film silly as it sounds. It'd be really violent with a few spectacular monster battles against King Sesar and Gorasaurus (two opponents that were only used once each and need more attention since they rock). I even drew some redesigned monsters.

Zelda Projects / LOZ: Hall of the Dead - UPDATE
« on: April 05, 2006, 12:01:39 am »
Oh no! Another Zelda fan game from that dude who actually finished one. Well it's not a sequel and it's not a remake but I've taken a lot of old ideas and mixed them into a new storyline. I don't really want to give a heckuva lot away right now so I'll just post some early screens:

Actually I was more annoyed by the fact that it's going to be aimed at teens. The last one was a serious horror movie and as a result ended up being very good, the new one will be a cheap way to cash out. ..and from the text on that page I can't help but to think Americans are going to be the stars which not only takes away the English charm of the original but may also provide some kind of lame Iraq parallels.
