Title: Ocarina Of Time 2D - New Screen

Yeah, you might know me, and you might know my project, I have a mainsite for it, http://www.monkeypro.net/oot2d (http://www.monkeypro.net/oot2d)

Anyway, as you know, this is a remake of Ocarina of time 2D in alttp style.

My two main spriters Are Tani and King of Games.

I'm using rpgmaker2003 to produce this, and I'm currently about 65% complete until demo 1, demo 1 will include everything up until you recieve the fairy ocarina off Saria.

Awesome, another RM2K3 ABS Zelda game besides mine!

Looks pretty cool so far, my only complaint is that in Kokiri Forest the chipset you're using looks a little pale in comparison to the Charset s you have there.  If you're using a tint, that should effect everything, so I think it might be that the chipset you have for that doesn't have the right colors.

But nice work, keep it up!

Well if he's going for a complete 3D to LTTP transition then they should have a white outline as LTTP hearts have white outlines.  Anyway, I love the way you mixed MC and LTTP graphics. It looks great. This game shows promise :)

Yeah, I've actually seen your project before. Although, it's improved since I last saw it. It does look really good, and you've done a good job so far ;). Keep up the good work.

How many of the OoT2Ds have had a decent demo even up to Gohma, let alone finished? One or two? How many of the old ones were cancelled? Most of them I think. As far as I'm concerned if there's 20 OoT2Ds, then at least one of them is bound to be finished, right? SO, the more the merrier ;).

I guess it's just very hard to finish a game alone. Just my opinion though :P . That's why I decided to open an open source project.

I couldnt agree more, and it means that more people are developing graphics and engines, meaning people have more resources to use when making thier games, this one shows particular promise i think, and it uses my sprites, so im happy :D

I've been watching this game for a while, just kinda lurking, but I thought I should post.

It looks pretty good so far, although it's hard to tell for sure until some sort of a demo comes out.  That said though, I'm really looking forward to any progress you make on it.

Really? Thats an interesting choice of program. However personally i dont like using it, and dont like the games made by it due to poor quality, though it looks like you puting alot into this, so il be willing to give it a ty.

You say your using RPG Maker to make this eh? Well I am highly impressed, seeing how its being made with RPG Maker, it looks great so far.

oooh, looks very cool I must say! I like the shop and in-dungeon screens, they're very nice.

Sucks that you're using GBA LttP tiles but SNES LttP objects, though (the pale and dark sprites really contrast a bit too much  :-\)

Having said that, if the gameplay's great, no-one will care :D

Are the particles in the Kokiri forest (see Shot with Chest with Kokiri Sword in it) overlapping the hearts of the hud?

Also, the Deku tree tiles really have no depth to them: quick example of darkening walls to look better (right is original):

Yeah, make sure all the files used in your project are in your games folder, open the .ini, do the 'FullPackageFlag=1' thing at THE BOTTOM of the other text, add Harmony.dll and sometimes you will need UNLHA32.dll, I dont know why, sometimes you need it, sometimes you dont : D

Very nice! Although you should definitely change those C buttons and A, B, they look horrible with that white outline! Other than that, everything is perfect!

Just a word update:

I have re-mapped alot of the deku tree rooms, improving them, I only have about 4 or 5 more to map out, then I'll have it all layed out.

After that, I shall code all the cut scenes, and then finish coding everything inside the deku tree.

Actually Ghoma isn't too hard compared to Brainade (Sp?). I've done Ghoma Ai, Dodongo Ai and Volvagia Ai.

I've done tiling EVERY room inside the deku tree, and I did nearlly all of the room tranisitions today, so I have to now do the enemies, chests, lighting torches, burning and breaking webs and yeah, that;s about it.

Heh, good luck with Gohma.
I'm making a Gohma engine in rm2k3 too, right now I'm in the process of splitting Gohma into 16x16 blocks and putting them into charsets.

...actually, I could just use pictures for Gohma and have a bunch of blank charsets around her for collision...

I don't know, I'd have to test it out.  But good luck ;)

That video IS SICK! Great job Dampe, you're the only one to have shown so much progress in LTTP style! HUGE Kudos to you! I love it when you are on the second floor and you can see the first floor. I can imagine all the trouble you've been through with RPG Maker!

One tiny little thing though, you should replace the text font with the LTTP one.

Ah.

One trouble, I can only use a font that is compatible with size 8, I cant chagne it :(, and Lttp is 12, so I'll ahve to find one that is either simular, or jsut a cool one.

It was pretty cool but the top room should be a little more circled. That effect was pretty cool but dosen't exactly stick to lttp style. Also, heres a link for IE browsers. (I had to download firefox to view it).

Its about 2 mb and I put it in a Zip so I could upload it onto 64 digits. Hopefully I wont have to host it long cause there getting pretty suspices of me.

this game is looking great man..ive used rm2k3 before, but im switching over to rmxp for more flexibility with coding. But im guessing you used a panaroma for the view of the first floor? its very creative, i dont think ive ever seen anything like that before. And have you thought about how you are going to code gohma or have you got that far yet?

Awesome trailer dampe, this game is looking great. The only thing i dislike about it is that deku tree sprite your using. other than that, this is looking sweet.

And like DugOLas said, that Great Deku Tree sprite is pretty odd with hardly any detail. Otherwise, the screens look very nice..

I finally re-coloured my tiles, making them SNES Lttp colours not GBA Lttp colours, looks better.

Yeah, looks better.  Everything seems like its going good, although , I'm not too fond of the Deku Tree sprites(inside and out), but I guess there isn't really much of a selection to choose from.

Just out of curiosity, what are you using that is mine(GanonSpriteR)?

Well, I spent 5 periods in school today, re-rolouring my lsot woods tiles, and re-mapping and coding them from the old style, looks much better now

What the hell? This is rpgmaker2003? Since when could you have such systems in RPG Maker? I have used all the RPG Maker programs and it only let me use the standard turn based battle systems...

And your game looks amazing. Very good for a 2D fan game, especially OOT2D. This is the only OOT2D I have seen go somewhere. Supposedly TRM is very far... but I havent seen anything so I dont really know about that project. Very very nice. Cant wait for a good demo so I can see these systems in action.

Yes, but RMXP has a scripting system rather than just the series of events.  I still prefer RM2K3 over RMXP, though.

Also, the one thing I hated about the game (the colors) fixed.  Looking awesome now! ;D

Updated, Finally.

I've been working on coding all the menu's, so far I've done the map menu, Quest Status, Save menu, and ha;f of the Equip menu.

I'll be finishing the menu's over the neext week or two, then finishing off inside of the deku tree.

Actually I don't think that's possible in RPG maker unless you did like 2 layers of images and yadda yadda yadda... tho I'm sure Dampe knows how XD
