My first sprite in a long time, so it probably sucks.
Anyway, C+C

a few crits:

cut down on the pillowshading. Set your heart on a constant light source. Right now one would surmise that the light source is directly about him, but in a good few areas the shading seems iffy.

AAAH! Saturation! Seriously, that green is blinding me. Not to mention that the extreme contrast between that green and the darker one is very unsightly. You could easily do without the brightest green altogether, and then just slightly increase the contrast between the other greens (right now the middle green just makes it look blurry).

Fix those and it will look a LOT better. Trust me, right now the shading and the bright green (mostly just the bright green) is really ruining an otherwise good piece.

All you did was recolor it with darker colors and dithering.

Why do you guys use dithering that much? It doesn't look too good, and you don't stick to any pallette, anyway, so... :\

you shouldn't need to use any dithering (or AAing for that matter) on a sprite that small. Just simple shading works, and looks fine.

Well, I like it. Y'all can go !@#$% yerselves.

Just kidding. But whats wrong with dithering? I see it used on high-end pixel art.

But dithering is only needed when you want to convey another shade without actually having one, so it's only really needed for large sprites where you ahve to convey a large area. On smaller sprites, it just looks out of place.

Dithering is okay on some small sprites, but never straight up checker style. Just a few pixels here and there of the lighter shade against the darker shade. But not too much. Never ever use checker style dithering on a small sprite unless its part of the character's costume. Such as a checker board wearing protecter of light and savior of the 7 crystals, which would be very stange.
