SOAD is really overrated. I don't like them that much, save maybe one song, though I don't know what it is. Seriously though they aren't too good at what they do.

So no, I do not listen to them.

I never said they were bad, I just don't think they're that talented. Bands like them, and worse yet, SLIPKNOT, are constantly called Death Metal and crap like that by morons who don't know what metal is. Slipknot and SOAD are NOT metal. The fact that their fans and the bands themselves do that is what truly pisses me off about them.

I wasn't actually responding to your post.

About SoaD not being metal, wikipedia refers to them as "alternative metal", but despite it's name, that genre isn't really metal (just like nu metal isn't metal), so yeah, they're not metal. Sliknot is nu metal, in other words not real metal either. Some other non-metal bands I've seen confused with the metal genre are Queens of the Stone Age, My Chemical Romance, Guns 'n' Roses, Korn and even AC/DC. And a lot more I forgot, of course.

Alternative Metal's really alternative rock... I don't really group them in the Nu metal area myself... Ah well doesn't really matter anyway.

What's hilarious is some of the genres I've seen people use before... One of my sorta friends and his "Troll Metal" (don't ask, you *really* don't wanna know) and then two random ones I've seen online... Platypus Metal and Dermatologist Metal. I have no idea which bands they were but I could not stop laughing when I saw them. (Those three genres do not really exist please do NOT try to use them)

The funny thing about metal is how pretty much every band has to pick a new 'name'. For example, Rhapsody is Hollywood metal, and when Luca Turilli released his solo albums, each was a different genre (no joke) - symphonic cosmic metal and, if I recall correctly, epic fantasy metal. XD

They can call themselves what they want :P I tend to stick with at least slightly less specific genres. Rhapsody's just power metal in my mind, and I don't know Luca Turilli, but I'll believe he changed genres, but I wouldn't call them that :P

XD, yeah, there are so many obscure metal genres. "Troll Metal" is probably Scandinavian Folk Metal or something, as trolls are part of Scandinavian folklore, and I've heard Scandinavian metal decribed as "trollish", whatever that means...

I've also heard the term "cheese metal", but I'm not sure what that is. >_>
