OfficeSpace wasnt talking about you ( Hes been a poster throughout this topic, ie thats not his first response to the topic ).
If you google Jesus walking on water or ice, you get hundreds of articles saying "It was ice that jesus walked on, says...".
Obviously its entertainment behind the literal form of it (One article suggested a plume of fresh water, frozen, could have rested on the top of the sea for a short peroid during cold periods: That would probably convince alot of people!).
When i first read your main topic post i thought what you meant though, and not the literal idea tht he walked on ice.
Rather that, maybe one day, a story was told involving walking on water, in order to demonstrate a point, or fortify the strength of the messages in the overall reading material.
So as you suggested, the entire documentation of walking on water could have been metaphorical.
