Like everyone I don't have just 'one song' that touches me, but there are several. I'm a big.. music.. !@#$%, and I'm very anal about what I listen to, and I like to debate about music.
Its right up there with politics for me.. best not to ask why, because I'm not sure.
None the less, some of these songs will come off sounding weird, if you know the meaning behind the song you'll understand why they're here.
Pearl Jam - Jeremy - The song is yes, about a kid who shoots up a school in Texas (yes a real shooting) but stepping away from that context the song is about self-control, not letting other people bother you, it also gives you a look inside of the minds of people you bother, it really for me is one of the more meaningful songs of that time period. --

Leadbelly - Where did you sleep last night? - We all most likely heard this song for the first time on the Unplugged album of Nirvana's. Though I probably listen to the Nirvana version more than the leadbelly version, its probably one of the more interesting songs I can think of. The song sucks me in whether I listen to Dolly Partons Version, Cobains version, or Leadbellys. Leadbelly was a blues artist from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, who influenced Kurt Cobain quite a bit (hence the song on the unplugged album). --

Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders - Last Kiss -- (Pearl Jam also covered the song in the late 90s). Amazing song, if you haven't heard it I recommend it.

Boa - Duvet -- The song was on an Anime sound track (something in relation to... Lain.. I don't remember the.. actual.. anime. :p) Anyway, Boa or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%B4a is a British band, not to be confused with the Japanese girl "Boa" who does anime music. Jasime (the lead singer) has one of the most beautiful voices.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=oqEeTHlqpXUHonestly.. anything by Pearl Jam, Matchbox Twenty(Rob Thomas), Dave Mathews, eh My list could go on so much further.. there are so many talented people out there, sometimes their songs are never heard.. Oh.. and I'm bad.. and I don't remember who mentioned.. No Doubt.. Uma maybe? Early No Doubt... She has an amazing voice that also tends to capture me.. anything off of Tragic Kingdom You can't not.. like.. Don't Speak is one of the betters.
Sorry.
I'm a typing !@#$%.
