I am impressed. I really want to see how this plays.

This seems by far the best Zelda fan game I've seen showcased on this website.

The series was originally planned to be a mini-series. It wasn't until they finished it, that Nick told them to make more episodes. They only started story boarding season 2 right now.

I started with classic rock, some of my favorites are still Led Zeppelin, Queen, Beatles. I'm also really into progressive rock like King Crimson and YES. Another progressive band, although very different than any other that I have been permanently obsessed with for the past few years (seen 4 shows now!) is PHiSH. They have a lot of different styles, this quintessential piece being a mix of classical fugue-like composition and 21st century progressive funk rock. The comical part is the only lyrics that aren't nonsensical are "Boy, man, god, shiiiiiiit"

They focus a lot on live improvisation and extensive full band jamming, as opposed to just one person soloing over the same chord progression. Inspired of course, by my other favorite band, the Grateful Dead. I'll post one of their songs too, just because they're also misunderstood by a lot of people, who think it's just for drugged out hippies. I quit all drugs a while ago and still love this type of music.

Romani guitar-driven gypsy jazz is another favorite genre of mine. Django Reinhardt, Angelo Debarre, etc. Great stuff! I can get into some rap, although not much of it. I like some older Eminem stuff, like the song "It's OK" where he raps about happy stuff, very different from his angrier later stuff. I also like some old rap like A Tribe Called Quest. Could never get into heavy metal or dubstep. Gypsy jazz is my favorite, but any jazz is great.
Hah most of that sounds like the music club in my school improving (only when I'm not involved cause I suck at improving). It's not hippie music, you should've seen some hippies play at the battle of the bands at my school. No one knew they were playing a song, everyone thought that they were simply testing their instruments the whole time. I know Yes and Phish a little, but I'm not into them that much (one of my friends is addicted to Yes, I'll try some of their other songs out soon I guess, any recommendations besides Roundabout?). In terms of progressive rock, I listen mostly to Rush and Coheed and Cambria.

I see most of you guys like classic rock, any Rolling Stones lovers?

Also, any of you guys play Rock Band? I have Rock Band 3 with all Pro instruments!

What music do you all listen to? Favorite artists, favorite songs?

I'm curious to see what everyone says. I listen to all sorts of Rock, but my favorite lie within Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for My Valentine and Three Days Grace.

Most of my friends listen to rap, but I just can't get into it. It's just not expressive enough to me. Most rap I hear have the same beats and those that change it up still have that monotone speaking, it just irks me and can't really imagine anyone listening to it for fun. I'm curious to see what you guys listen to.

Nah man, I was just laughing at you saying you ARE a fan-game, when you probably meant to say you'd consider yourself a fan-boy
lol Didn't notice that until now. Life is a game, isn't it?

Wouldn't it be better to simply use SDL and compile a game rather than running it as a GBA game? I can see trouble when pirates start putting the ROM on cartridges and start selling it on eBay. Plus, doesn't it go slower because the ROM is interpreted rather than being a standalone executable?

Sorry to single out one silly typo, but...

I consider myself a Sony fan game

I consider myself a Sony fan game

I consider myself a Sony fan game
-_- Seriously? It does not mean I think Sony is all high and mighty. Compare the PS3 to the Xbox, the PS3's GUI looks too plain while the Xbox one gets updated every once in a while and stays fresh and new. They also came in late with several features that Xbox came with at launch. If it weren't for Microsoft fan boys, the PS3 wouldn't even have those features. The service is also bad sometimes. This week, I've been faced with hexadecimal errors (the ones that tell you nothing) when trying to get on the Playstation Store and change my password.

I do think that some fan boys are ignorant but what can you do? Seriously, some people say stupid shiz. The problem is that some fan boys believe what they want and know nothing about technology or how anything works.

lol yeah, what of it? I consider myself a Sony fan game, but I'm not as stupid as how you describe them. I consider pros and cons, and I see more pros with Playstation, though I have nothing against Xbox. Still, Microsoft does make a lot of mistakes especially with Windows 8, how do I use a mouse on it? -_- Just making my life harder.

The way I see it, they are necessary. It's people like those that drive companies forward. Otherwise, we wouldn't see modern consoles until much later. Without competition, companies would farm you out of all of your money for as long as they could.

I loved the show! But...

I disliked the ending. I think it would've been cooler if Amon lived and Korra was stuck with her air bending and had to relearn all of her other bendings in the next season. I mean - this chapter was called Air, what will the others be? I don't think that avatars learn the special bending (lightning, metal, etc), so I don't think it could be that. I still want to know what happened to Zuko.

Still looking forward to next season! Hopefully, it will have as much plot twists as this one!

Go on GameMaker and run your game in Debug mode. Then, in the debug window, go to Tools>Show Global Variables. See if your global variables are the problem.

If this is not your problem, then I don't know what the problem is. We might have to see your GameMaker file.

Coding / Re: Does anyone know GML code for palette swapping?
« on: June 14, 2012, 06:50:23 pm »
Here you go.

Refer to the object for an example on how to use these scripts.

As I have said earlier, it is slow, as GM's get pixel functions are naturally so. I made it so that it saves all pixels beforehand so it's useful if you're swapping multiple colors, but slower if you are only swapping a single color. Regardless, the order of magnitude is potentially smaller.

Credit is not necessary but appreciated. If you need any changes to the scripts, you can simply post again here or send me a PM.

I could make a code. It would be very slow (due to GM's pixel functions naturally being slow) and would require the registered version of GameMaker. As long as you don't do it real time, it'd be fine. Is that good?

It appears that you are using GameMaker.

If you simply want to move the view to center the player, you can simply do something of the sort:
Code: [Select]
view_xview[0] = obj_player.x - 160/2;
view_yview[0] = obj_player.y - 128/2;

Hah, so this is using component based design? Nice.

Will this ever be open source or anything of the sort?

Have you guys considered putting the design document onto Google Docs? I use it all the time, your whole team can edit the document at the same time, and you can make it so visitors can post comments. It's easier than downloading files over and over.

Good luck on this project, I've been looking at it for a while, it's about time I show some support!

That controller doesn't look bad in my opinion...  Maybe not as comfy as the 360's though.
Ugh, the 360 controller is not comfortable to me as much as the PS3 controller is. Such awkward hand position, meanwhile the PS3 controller is nice and small and easy to grip.

The triggers of the Wii U controller make it seems exactly like a derivative of the 360 controller. I'm also wondering why they made a separate power and home button. Both the 360 and PS3 kinda combined those into one button, why can't Nintendo do the same?

Wow this is all really impressive. What program did you make this in? Did you code all of the physics yourself?

When you have money, you're allowed to be experimental when creating games, which I suppose is what they did.
