Coding / Re: Playstation Suite

Let me know what you find out. It'd be nice if you could still test on-device without a license so the homebrew scene could thrive without having to heck the device. What's the word on other languages? I'd much prefer C++, I already have a codebase in that, and I largely chose to write it in C++ because of low level functionality and multi-platform support. I don't think Sony would be too happy about the low level functionality and would much prefer the relative safety of things running in a VM.
Well you could always use XNA to make Xbox, Windows and Windows Phone games and it's almost exactly like this program. Do you really need to make games for Mac or Linux? Most gamers use Windows. And C++ and C# are not entirely different so it would not take long to port your codebase over.

I must say I really like this program. It's basically entirely OpenGL, I like that. The documents are alright, and the samples are helpful. I'm going to be spending my next few days writing an engine and hopefully out will pop a game! This is going to be a great learning experience for me and for my friend who I'll be helping (I'm making him program most of it, and he knows nothing about OpenGL so this will be a huge challenge for him). I'm a little confused about the FAQs. After the beta, we will not have to pay for the program itself, will we?

Same, I'll be trying this afterschool :p. So does this not make games for PS3? It makes me sad.

Discussion / Re: Minish Cap HTML/Construct 2 test

It's smooth on my machine. If Construct it too limiting, just make your own small engine using plain Javascript, it's not that hard.

Also, GameMaker is having an HTML5 on beta (I think). I think it'd have more features than Construct, but I've never used Construct personally (seen some pics and stuff of it).

Recruitment / Re: [OFFERED] C++ / GML Programmer for any game.
« on: April 17, 2012, 09:02:10 pm »
I think saying you're a C++ programmer is too general. What APIs do you use (DirectX/OpenGL) and which libraries do you have experience in (SDL, libPNG, OpenAL, ect.)?

Also, do you have any examples of work?

Hah, good for pranks I guess!  XD

But why is it 5 MB? It seems rather large.

Why do I feel like you're trying to trick us into giving you karma? :p

I can click on the text field and write on it. What browser are you using and what version?

Just wondering, have you seen this post? It might have some stuff you need, but I'm not sure if it's the style you want.

Entertainment / Re: [REVIEW] THE HUNGER GAMES MOVIE (SPOILERS)
« on: April 14, 2012, 02:38:20 am »
Hah, saw the movie on release but I never read the book. My friend told me what happened though and told me what he thought:
-Peeta's leg is not amputated and "magically" heals, which is not true to the book.
-Gale's relationship with Katniss is not emphasized enough which ruins Katniss' view on a relationship with Peeta.
-How Katniss shoot the ending boss (forgot his name lol), it made no sense how it did not go through his hand onto Peeta, also untrue how he died in the book.

There are more but I forgot them, but I generally agree with you on the review. I always feel as if the directors mess up on purpose sometimes so sequels are not possible/harder to make.

10, really nice solid and simple design!  XD

50
Just in case you want to consider mine over Mitsu's.  XD

I could do more if you ask.

51
You mean mine? If so, go ahead.

I could've made it better if my Bamboo Pen was working but my computer just sucks so much right now.

52
Well, I made something. Not really a sprite though and it's larger than you wanted. I guess it came out alright...

53
Around what size do you want Link to be?

I'll give this a try, but I can't guarantee much.

Thanks, I found your maps.

I'll get through with sorting them out eventually.

I was planning on using Essence of Lime. Some songs are orchestrated and others are just pumped up version of the songs. I'm not sure how it'll fit exactly, but for a trailer (if I get that far :p) it would seem cool. I'll probably end up not including the ones that are too orchestrated but the title screen song sounds fine to me. It'd only be odd during gameplay where it wouldn't match the mood.

Thanks! I hope you won't mind if I don't use some of your icons, I already made some myself but this will still come in handy!

Progress has been going well so far on this game. I've been working mainly on cutscenes. The scene where Link chases away the Octorok from Impa is almost complete, I'm mainly missing an Impa sprite and I also need to finish my textbox engine. On top of that, I still need to finish mapping the first area. 3/8 blocks of the starting map are done so far. My mapping won't be finished though until I get the flower animations from MC, so can someone help with ripping it? After mapping the first full area, I'll add music. The music is going to be so awesome that I'm going to need a .dll to use it (found some awesome remixes).

Any help that anyone does will automatically get them credit on this game.

I'm more of a PS3 guy so this doesn't mean much to me. However, the internet always having to be on is terrible. I usually always play with my internet off, don't want to lose any bandwidth! Sure sounds like it's fake. Blu-rays definitely sounds good though, it's one of the Xbox's weak points.

The PS Orbis news sounds fake too. No more borrowing games from your friends or perhaps even having a second PSN account. No backwards compatibility either? Sounds like a deal breaker to most people, but we all know we're going to buy these consoles anyway. Gotta live with it.

Yeah, hopefully you guys understand me now.

I've noticed the searching function does not work well when you search for resources. Also, clicking anything on a resource (summary, news, downloads, etc) will give you a 404 error. Not sure if anyone said this yet.

I actually resized all Oracle maps to be larger. It actually fits out perfectly, where the Oracle trees become the same size as MC trees and same applies for cliffs. I tried to take on this project last year but quit after I couldn't scale everything properly, but I got it right this time. Characters and everything else are much bigger in MC, so this scale is necessary. I'm actually using the screen resolution of 256x192, compared to the MC resolution of 240x160.

Programming the title screen would only take less than an hour, provided I have the sprites ready. I just want to finish it now so I wouldn't have to worry about it later. Also, if I release multiple demos, it would be easier to continue where you left off instead of having to go through it over and over. Plus, most Link mechanics I already made last year, I just need to port them to my current engine, fixing the glitches as I work along. The only real work I have to do are maps (which don't take too long) and mostly the story sequences.

I'll have a lot of time to work next week when I have spring break. Hopefully one of you guys want to join my team before then ;). I'm looking forward to that. For now, I have to start my 10 page essay along with the rest of my homework...

By the way, I need the MC flower animations ripped. Anyone willing to do me a favor?

It's always possible to write a script to change palettes. It would, however, be very slow to do in real time. And also what Jeod said.

I've updated the first post to say what I need to do before I can release a demo. I'm still VERY early in development and I'm a lone wolf for now, so don't pressure me.
