Basically, the only rule here is 4 colours (including transparency) per 8x8 pixels. I'm fine with breaking the rules just slightly if the end result is much better. I'm planning to redo the entrance, I don't want it that wide (for overworld design reasons) and I might go for something more along the lines of the entrance to the Black Tower in Oracle of Ages, but I dunno yet.

Thank you for the response BTW!

You might be wondering why we steal, why the rich look at us this way... All my life I have been running away, living a criminal life. I didn't have a choice. My parents died when I was eight, I had nowhere to go, no family to live with, and I didn't want to go to an orphanage. I ended up living in the streets, with no money and no ways to support myself. I started to steal small things like, food, pocket money, and basically, anything I could find. That is how I managed to live for many years. Then, I met some children who where in the same conditions as me. Homeless, begging for food, trash compared to the rich. I took them in. Taught them ways to survive in the streets. We had no choice but to steal from the rich, the ones who closed their doors when we asked, when we begged for a place to stay! The ones who rolled their eyes when they passed by our sides when we begged! No more will they be better than us... No more will they look at us with disgust! We will steal from them until they have nothing left... Until they are brought to our feet, begging. And then, they will see the how much we have suffered, how much pain they have caused with their greed and their pride... We, have no choice, but to steal...
I am with the others here. This honestly sounds like something Ganondorf would say at the end of Wind Waker. I imagine him as a guy who doesn't accept the harshness of being poor while not making others greatly suffer for his gain. Otherwise he is greedy, and hypocritical at that. He might be a criminal, but that's his survival instincts kicking in, not because he has an evil scheme to take things over. If anything, his objective might be to bring everyone, poor and rich, together in harmony. So maybe the "one day, we shall unite" speech would be more fitting, and then maybe him admitting it'll be impossible and lower the player's hopes. But I am not completely certain as far as his character goes. It feels awkward enough that he is just explaining this to Link(?). I mean unless they just met, I don't know how to feel about such speeches. I think Link knows why they and he steals too.

Ah I see, fair enough. I probably need to catch up on a few things regarding the community project. But by the time I get into things, maybe everything will be completed. I am the slowest worker in the world, and you seem to be quite the opposite, haha. =P

Ah, okay. That makes sense. By the way, Spritonic, do you mean GraphicsGale? I have it, but maybe you didn't mean GraphicsGale. I'll have to check it out after I post, you got me kinda curious now.

Also as for the latest interior... some of the tile positions (table, cupboards, stairs, beds, etc.) remind me of Link's house in Minish Cap. Intentional? =P

So probably a silly question, and probably has been answered and I'm just blind as a bat, but what do you use to make the maps? I'm really curious as to what you guys are using and how much is done and what's left to do. No promises, but I might participate too, or maybe at the very least offer critique and suggestions.

So far, progress is looking great. Especially loving the potion shop, it's giving me Wind Waker vibes.

OK, not really. I'm the slowest spriter in the entire world for all I know, so don't expect me to make sprites at a fast or even decent pace. Also, I prefer doing Gameboy Zelda graphics more, they hold a charm I prefer. So don't expect Minish Cap graphics... not like I'll be able to achieve such quality sprites, I've still got a long way to go. All of these sprites will or were going to be a part of my upcoming Zelda fan game unless I say otherwise. If you wish to know about my fan game, I might make a progress thread, but I'll probably refrain for now since it's still in early stages and I can get lazy at times.

So here's the first batch of sprites! Here we have the entrance to the Tower of Hylia, an important location in my game. It's not a central dungeon, but you do visit it more than once. You'll see what I mean hopefully.

The tower overview sprites might stay and may see slight (perspective) edits or additions, but I have plans to redesign the entrance due to specific reasons that I don't want to get too deep into. Speaking of the entrance, the goddess statues to be more precise, I referenced someone's work on here, but I lost my notepad of credits. I'll be doing some personal searching, but maybe someone will be reminded or something.

And please, don't use my work. If you do, please at least credit me. Feedback and advice is the reason why I made this thread. ZFGC has some talented spriters that have mind blown me, and I want all the help I can get. I also have my final year of school, and if I fail I have to do another year so obvious stress will add to my laziness. Life... just let me sprite in peace. >_<

Regarding Twinmold, I guess it was the power of that wizard from Yoshi's Island that made it big, while in the processing of resizing that Piranha Plant. Might of also got some of that magic onto the Giant's Mask too. So therefore the baddies technically helped Mario too!

The jungle/swamp area is apart of YI's world 3 too - and Woodfall even connects with Stone Tower!

First examine the two following images Stone Tower from Majora's Mask and World 3 Castle from Yoshi's Island.

Now that we see clearly, Termina is apart of Yoshi's Island, thus coming to conclusion that in the process of Link saving Termina, Yoshi is saving Baby Mario. In other words, Link unintentionally saves Baby Mario. Making Link not the hero of Hyrule and Termina, but the Mushroom Kingdom as well making Link the ultimate Nintendo hero.

Sepulcher from PureZC as provided furthermore evidence as the Happy Mask Salesman bares a mask that resembles Mario. Coincidence? I THINK NOT. Proving that HMS originated from the future Mushroom Kingdom.

I know I said this already but I'm really looking forward to this. A Link to the Past (and Link's Awakening and the Wind Waker for that matter) is the best thing to ever happen in the Legend of Zelda series for me and making a game based off of it and yet making it more interesting is an instant look forward to.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Shane!

Anyway, I hear you got the box art done! http://zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=40432.0

So...what about the game itself? And how in the world are you going to make it a Wii U, Gamecube (Seriously?) AND PC game? You need to lower your expectations...a lot. At least before you actually start making the game...
Oh hey Jared! =D

Yeah, I'm curious to why it's being made for the Gamecube also, and not something more modern like the Wii or DS. But start making it just for the PC. Start small, grow big. =)

So what happened to Hyrule? Did the goddesses shatter the world due to the races battling against each other? The title and the story feels a bit generic. It's not a bad thing though. But I always believe the story of a game helps make it stand out. I'm assuming there will be either a hub area, where all the portals connect (maybe like a central dungeon?) or this game might have a Mario game layout where you beat the worlds in a certain order. It'd be cool for Link to travel to the fire world just to collect a key or something so he can progress more through the forest world. Helps and improves gameplay and linearity.

Well, that's enough from me, I look forward to seeing this in action. =)

Late reply is late. But I just want to say I really like this. It reminds me of Twilight Princess's Castle Town with a hint of the Minish Cap's. I approve of the layout, looks like it has the potential to shape up into an awesome map. =D

I'm going to have to agree with what the others have said. I'll admit I have done sometime similar once in the past, but I learned it's not just uncool of me but it doesn't show my full creativity if using someone else's work. I see you wish you don't want people to use your sprites and I respect that, but you got to give the same courtesy to other spriters out there. But if you do wish to use someone else's work just ask and give credit, it's the most respectful thing to do. Otherwise it just looks like you stabbed him/her in the back, and I'm sure those weren't you intentions.

With that said, you clearly got talent, I'm no spriter, but I think you should try to improve your shading and outlining, these two skills might just help in the future. =)

How about "Evil's Radiance"? Most titles are either "_ of _" or "the _", so why not try to break it with a title that doesn't use "of" or "the"?
