Also, my point was that the nominated movies barely illustrate the whole decade at all, more like 08-09.
I agree, if you are going to make a poll of the decade. Think about the whole decade.

Yeah, it's a shame the Oceans triliogy didn't make it in. Love those movies.

Right, District 9, Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Carribean are the top 3. We need someone to vote for either of those. Then we have our winner

I don't really get why District 9 is up there; it just recently got a video release, and it came out last quarter 2009...

That's it! District 9 is the winner of films. Followed in joint 2nd by Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Carribean.

Little fact : Did you know that Peter Jackson worked on both District 9 and Lord of the Rings?

I will post again when the game poll is done

EDIT: The vote for the game of the decade has begun! Start voting!

Because it was a film released in the last decade perhaps?

Barely. It just got a video release this month.

It's different to say something like "The Matrix" is part of the 00s, because it's not since it got both a theatrical release and video release in the 90s; this however is right inbetween.

It's also a bit pretentious to say a film that has only had theater sales is "the best movie of the decade", since a good chunk of its sales are going to come from home video sales.

It's just funny that movies that are pretty generic make their way up there due to release hype that's still going on from the time it was released (meaning it was released waaay too soon for it to be right to even have it up there), but great movies like Pan's Labyrinth are nowhere to be seen :P

Here's a good list of movies from the decade, since everyone nominated something on a whim :P

Also, Final Fantasy should be broken down into individual titles :P there were quite a few this past decade, and they're all pretty different from one another <_<

I went with Elder Scrolls. TES 3 in particular was one of the best games I've ever played. I played that for over 100 hours back in the day.

Regardless of DVD or not, it was still released in the last decade. The movie was RELEASED to PUBLIC viewing. You can argue technicalities over DVD release all you want, but it'd be pretty illogical because the movie was still RELEASED last year.

While we're at it, you do realise there is still a year left in the decade, right? ;D There was no 0AD. The 202nd decade begins new years day 2011.

Wooh technicalities ^^

Decades are pretty much always defined by the tens spot.  60s, 70s, 80s, and so on.

There might be one year left in the 201st decade CE, but the 200Xs are over.

Yeah that is something that not everyone agrees on, because it creates a serious flaw. The western calender is based on the year that Jesus Christ was born. Thus, when the calender starts from 1 A.D and before that is called -1 B.C., you are skipping a number. Not to mention that Jesus Christ would have been born as a 1 year old. Staying in the womb for 1 year and 9 months is a freaking long time.

Additionally, 2000 was also considered the turning point of the millennium, by billions. Thus making 2011 the turning point for the decade, would mean the decade contains 11 years.

But like I said, not everyone agrees on it and the philosophical debates are still on going. "Wooh technicalities  :("

First of all, use B.C.E. and C.E., not B.C. and A.D.  We're all adults here.

Thus, when the calender starts from 1 A.D and before that is called -1 B.C., you are skipping a number.

(It's not negative 1 B.C.E, it's just 1 B.C.E.)  There is no skipped number.  Stop thinking in terms of age.  Think of numbers—you don't start counting with zero, you start with one.  Year 1 is the first year of the Common Era, there's no 0th year.

It's that simple:  First Year of the Common Era = 1 C.E.

Years before the Common Era are counted the same way, only you're counting back in time instead of forward.  The first year before 1 C.E. is 1 B.C.E.

1 B.C.E. = First Year Before the Common Era.

Actually, Jesus was born before he was born.  4BC

Also, how much time left on the video game votes?

Lol what do sales have to do with it? Being the best has nothing to do with tickets or dvd's sold.

that said, I dunno if it should be on this list.

They most definitely don't mean the same thing. They refer to the same periods of time. B.C. means before Christ. B.C.E. means before common era. A.D. means Anno Domini, whereas C.E. just means common era. People who don't share the same religious views as certain religions probably care what you call them. Just saying...
