help making/fixing a sprite

Okay Ive started woring on a TP bokoblin sprite(no, not for a tp 2d), but I cant get it right.

Any ideas to make it look better? Its the head I'm mainly disappointed with.
Sorry I dont have a reference pic, I was using the one out of the TP manual :P
PS: It's Lttp style

Give it more contrast. It's got so little contrast, i can't even tell what it is at the moment.

Something better shaded. I'm not very fond of the head though, any help with the line art would be appreciated. A also think its a little small>_<

EDIT:I think I mightve found out what I was doing wrong, if need be I will reopen this topic*locked*
