Anyone familiar with the name of the topic? No? Does Daft Punk ring any bells? Good!

As of right now, I'm on vacation. In Sweden we have something called "Semester" every summer, which means that we are free from work a couple of weeks. In my case, I have five weeks off from work which is sweet but also quite terrifying. So I have giving myself a task to complete over these five weeks and that is building the helmet that Guy-Manuel wears in the two-man group Daft Punk.

This is going to be a difficult project but I think I will pull it off. Down below you can read all the steps I have planned so far that I will have to work through. (The list is going to be updated once a while since I will probably discover new things to do.)

- Building the Base - [STEP 1] :::::::::: 100% Done
- Glassfiber and Putty - [STEP 2] :::::::/// 70% Done
- Sanding and Refinement - [STEP 3] ::://///// 30% Done
- Molding - [STEP 4] ////////// 0% Done
- Casting - [STEP 5] ////////// 0% Done
- Building a Vacuum Former - [STEP 6] :://////// 20% Done
- Cast the visor with the Vacuum Former - [STEP 7] ////////// 0% Done
- Chrome the helmet cast - [STEP 8] ////////// 0% Done
- Install LED's in the helmet - [STEP 9] ////////// 0% Done
- Paint and assemble the visor on the helmet - [STEP 10] ////////// 0% Done

A total of ten steps that will all take a lot of time to get through, but it will not stop me.

Stay tuned for photos from Day 1 and Day 2 of the build.

Awesome!  Are you going to record your process? I want to see how you make it. (Like FaceOff, have you seen it?)

Thanks for the positive attitude!

I don't know! Right now I'm building the base in basic 12mm EVA-Foam, so it's not a fun process to watch, but once I get to a more fun and interesting part on the build I will make sure to record it.

- Day 01 -
This is the basic frame for the helmet and as you can see no details so far more than some lines where I will cut some edges to stay true to the real deal.

- Day 02 -
This was a very painful day of work. All my time went into making the first ear piece, which took me about 6 or 7 hours to get right, everything from getting the correct measurement and the curve around it. But the third time I got it close to what I wanted. There is still some refinement on it but I'm on the right track!

Today is the third day, which means that the other ear piece needs to be done. But hopefully it will be done quick so I can start working on the two other ear pieces!

Stay tuned for an update later today.

If your friend is used to make molds and such, I would really like to know some good things to keep in mind while doing it! I know the basics but some good advice would be helpful :)

Time for a small update! Yesterday was Day 03 of the build, I forgot to post any photos BUT I will get to it. The end result from yesterday was that the first two ear pieces are done! As of right now, I'm working on the two smaller cylinders that are on each side, when they are done, there is only two things that needs to be done after that. The visor and the plate on the back of the helmet.
//-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------//

- Day 03 -
The two bigger ear pieces are now done, I spent about 5 hours to get the curve equal to each other. Then I did some research on how I will take on the up coming difficulties!

- Day 04 -
I haven't got around to do some thing major today on the build but I almost got one more piece done. I have also been looking on how I should do the electronic pattern inside of the ears, but there isn't anything final yet. Hopefully I will be done with the base tomorrow so I can start with the glassfiber and putty!

I have been lazy with the updates lately but it's because of the amount of time I put into finishing the base. Only 5 pieces left on the visor to do, then the base is all done! I will make a huuuuuge update tomorrow with photos, things I learned and explaining the next step of the build.

A little bump with some progress! I've been busy with some other stuff but I got some major things done today, putty and a lot of sanding. The visor is the most vital part on the helmet and I need to put a lot of time on the sanding to make it as smooth and round as possible, it will then make the whole vacuum form process a lot easier.

This is the progress so far, there are still dents that I will fix but it's almost done!
