I'm enjoying DQ 9 a lot, it's a pretty fun game. Although so far the story is mode is pretty easy, it does have side dungeons with hard bosses, it also has downloadable quests, while you can download them anytime you unlock the Wifi shop, a lot of them seem to only be completable once you complete the story. A new downloadable quest is added every friday i think. They wifi shop also has special stuff you can buy, some are pretty rare items i think.

Every two weeks, a "special guest" stays at the inn too.

And yeah, it's Friday that the DQVC theme switches and more quests are downloaded. I think you get 2-3 each time.

It's an awesome game. I love it.

I can't play the new Dragon Quest games without being constantly reminded that the guy who does the art designs also did Dragon Ball (Z).

You do know that Akira Toriyama's been doing the art designs for Dragon Quest since the very start, right? It's not just a new thing.

Eh, I'm not overly impressed by it. I think it's because it's the first dragon quest game I've ever played, and after finding out it was developed by level 5 I had high expectations after dark cloud and dark chronicle/dark cloud 2. But this game just feels empty and basic in comparision, which is a bit of a letdown. It's not terrible, just not as good as I thought it would be.

Yes, I knew that from the beginning, but it wasn't until Dragon Quest VIII that the in-game graphics started looking like his designs. The 2D Dragon Quest games and Chrono Trigger looked different.

Well, the story is not the most brilliant and developed one, but it still works. We also have to think this is a DS game, and not even Zeldas for DS have a great story...
If we're looking for a great RPG with a great story, Golden Sun will be out in November, I think.

To be fair to DQ in general...all the games are simplistic.  Not saying to download roms or anything but, try the originals and you would see what I mean.  Look at the first few Final Fantasy games.

I know what you mean as I have DQ IV DS and it's very simple, to me anyway.  But enjoyable since I got it brand new for $10.

November 29, Ricky.

And you can see his designs for the enemies from the start, and even more so with the Super Famicom ones and DQ7.

It's the way he designs people that bothers me the most. It's just creepy to me. The games are great though.

Oh, okay. I see.

I still think it's hilarious that in DQ8 when Hero enters a "state of super-high tension" he goes Super Saiyan.

I noticed that too... it's purple, but the spiky hair still remains.

I got fairly far in it. It was enjoyable for the first good while, I got
Show content
all 7 figs
, then just kinda got bored trying to complete some alchemy recipes... Traded it in today, but may get it again if finances allow eventually.
