Game Maker 6.1 has been out since May 29th 2005, so it's been over a year. What do you reckon Mark is actually doing with all this time?
Massive holiday perhaps?
Or, dare I say it, working on compiling the code?

We've had quite a long wait, so I'm quite perplexed as to what is taking so long.

He has a job, hes writing a book and Game Maker is probaly at the back of his mind yet. He already said he hasn't begun working on it, and wont until his books finished.

"He writed"  XD  Nice dude.

Considering how much the guy has given to the game making community it's perfectly fine for him to not work on GM for a while.

There are a lot of things. He develops Game Maker not as occupation, but as hobby. His primary job is as a professor. He has to do that every day. He also has been working on a book with Jacob Habgood. Also, donations definitely help spur him to develop Game Maker, so donating always helps him out. Finally, with the next edition of GM, he wants to have a set of consistent sprites of very high quality, and he has to work out contracts with some people to do this. Internationally, most likely. This will take time. He's adding so many new features, who knows when he'll be done (I'm most looking foward to alpha channels).

I don't know what he could add to gamemaker.. as far as I know, I can do anything with gamemaker as long as my knowledge goes that far..
so he's problably only fixing bugs and glitches IF he's working on gamemaker.

The same reason why TRM is taking so long on OoT2D, cos it's a hobby  :P

Jesus you people (last 3) need to learn to reply properly >_>.

My point is not that Mark is taking so long. My point is that all previous versions came out months after their predecessors. Yet here we are 1 year, 1 month on and there's nothing. So I'm asking for your speculation on what he's doing, not why it's taking time.

The book though, I can accept :-p.

Maybe He working on more 3d functions.
Maybe Making game maker powerful enough to make a "quake" quality game!

It can make "quake" quality games right now >.>
Game maker can make games better than quake.
You just need to know how to limit the drawn vertexes and such on screen to keep a decent frame rate and you need some good models (not the highest quality though).
