Here's a layout for how things would be put down:

(DONE IN GM)

Overworld/Interiors/Dungeons are all mapped. The game is basically designed before any coding/spriting takes place.

Then, a group of programmers split up and each develop an engine. (HUD, Walking/Collision, Enemy, NPC, etc)

They ask for sprites as needed.

However, I've got a question: Should the GMD be passed from one programmer to the next with each completion of an engine, or should each developer get their own GMD and then one programmer can combine everything?

I was thinking that the game should be done in GB style (simple animations, easy coding, popular tilesets, etc) due to ease of use.
However, this can change.

About the GMD sharing, aren't there programs designed to make over-the-web creation easier?  I know those programs exist for music developers...

I think you mean a project managment system, and yes there are tons out there.

Why don't you use GM 6.1 instead of GM 5.3a?

I think it should be alttp style though I don't know if thats harder to do in coding or something but in my expirence it's much easier to find alttp sprites and much easier to edit one of them into a custom if you were to do something that the game didn't have. Though that's just my opinion.

GM 6.1 is better than 5.3, or else it would have a lower version number.

It's not that simple. From what i've heard, gm5 has better drawing system, but gm6 just has better alpha-usage. I think theyre pretty much equal, but you just have to choose which suits you better. Anyways, this has been attempted many times before, but i hope this will finish. Good luck!

Both versions are equal in drawing features, cept GM6 has no advanced drawing mode. That stinks, because gamma is the best way for lighting, but making a big sprite is the same effect.

Maybe equal in features, but not in the efficiency. GM6 creates faster and smaller executables, yet you get the morons who are like "but I can't do this", of course you can you just have to do it for yourself this time, moron.

And it's more secure, too. Noone has yet been able to turn GM6 executables back into GM6s.

Erm, VBGamer45 simply hasn't tried. Doesn't mean he couldn't do it. He has said that he'd have a crack at it if he got bored, lol.

gm6 has loads more drawing functions and other stuff, such as 3d, as well as smaller things, better encryption etc.
surfaces, more view stuff.
the only thing i've found that gm5 has that gm6 doesnt, is changing sprite hues on the fly, which can be done using your own made scripts though
edit: mark (gm's creator) said gm6 is a lot more secure then gm5, plus gamma is a terrible way for lighting :S it just changes the gamma of the whole screen, so that includes the hud etc. there are many other ways to do it, like the 3d lighting functions, or the blend drawing modes (more drawing functions just for gm6)

He didn't even mention the word Gb. I'm sure he has no problem with lttp sprites on something he is not making, right?

*Cronian disrupts argument*

I can code it, and I can edit the ALTTP sprites so they look better. ;)
