LOL, but true ;D

It was actualy a test, for the shield :P
but I kept it in, couse it was quite funny :)

BTW, I found a bug, but I don't know if it will work:
I made the jumping go if theres a collision with something, so maybe if you use your shield you could jump infinity :P

edit: Nope doesn't work...

Yep, those link sprites are from: SemiYugalo (or something) i've got it on the sprite sheets.
and on the platform, I use MC link, and another link who's name I don't know right now.

more about side scrol graphics:
tiles are from megaman zero, and I eddited them.

about the last two: Thanx
about the first one: I realy don't like background music, on sites...

You know, like: your listening to your own music, and you visit a site.. And suddenly there comes awfull VERY loud music out of you speakers.
I hate it, so I'm not going to bother others with it.

But thanx anyway

Thanx for finding ;)

Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time UPDATE: NEW screenies!!!!
Post by: Ricky on July 13, 2006, 07:46:22 pm
- Room shaking in the start (Link falling)
- Shaky HUD (like when you get one degree down or jump)
- Collision with enemy (Llife decreasing really quick and room shaking)
- When enemy touches us and we're near a wall (we're stuck and life decreases twice quickly)
Hope it helps and you can fix them ;)

Post by: moree on July 13, 2006, 07:49:54 pm
Thanx ;D

I knew about the most ones
I fixed most of them already
and there wasn't realy a "hurt"system for link.

But Thanx anyway. ;)

I eddited a real explosion to the enemy!, so when it explodes, you'l get blown away :P
but there are stil some bugs in that though

Yeah I noticed alot of bugs.

Here's one Moree

That is the biggest bug of all and I hope you solve it.
Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time UPDATE: NEW screenies!!!!
Post by: moree on July 13, 2006, 07:59:57 pm
haha ;D
It WILL be fixed

you know.. the fun thing about making games is:
when you developed a kwarter of the game, you'l only have to make levels, becouse every thing is already programmed ;D
and when I finish the full-demo the programming will be at least 50 % compleet
the other 50% is for other bosses, nmy's, and upgrades.

so I listen zelda music or play zelda games to get more motivated ;D

You do have a life in my opinion. Everyone does, but it's people's opinions what a life is. Mine's actually doing something creative.

Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time UPDATE: NEW screenies!!!!
Post by: moree on July 13, 2006, 08:28:31 pm
The story begins a long time after the events of ocarina of time.
The lost woods have extended over kakariko vilage and his graveyard.

The fist temple can be found here...
They call it the forest temple, but there's a graveyard in it.
The hylians who R.I.P ed there were now the forest gardians, and were desterbed by something.
so now, Link, and Me(you) have to find out what's going on.

answer to question:
a forest temple placed on a graveyard

This'll be interesting. You keep the name system, right? Where you can name yourself.

And, please make a support banner.
Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time UPDATE: NEW screenies!!!!
Post by: moree on July 13, 2006, 09:07:32 pm
Good idea ;D

and the name system will stay.
This game was made axactly a year ago!, with no develpment in engines, but only in idea's, and this was THE idea.
atualy It was to impress a very good friend of my he's not a real gameplay type, he's more a technical type.

So you can expect lots of: ghosts, zombies, and Deku-babas

I'm currently working on a better A.I.
I made a little change to the story, but no one knows the story as well as I do, so who cares...
The A.I can already jump over blocks, so that's a good progress if you compare with the previous one :P

The: "go into battle" and: "go out of battle" engine is working realy good, so that's a little progress already for today ;D

Edit: Fixed a little bug (I guess you all noticed this one) when jumping and landing, there was 1 pixel offset of the ground randomly.

Alright!!!
I've made the basic of the A.I of some enemys!!

BI need a good but simple stratagy they can use!
any stratagy would be great!

(for those who don't know what A.I. is:)
Atrificial Inteligents, other words: a Robot :P

AI for the sidescrolling battles
or AI for topdown (classic zelda)

i could help you with the latter

Post by: moree on July 15, 2006, 07:43:10 pm
Sory forgot to add that...(but it was already mentioned though)
it's a sidescroll battle ;D
Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time , Help me put up stratagy?
Post by: Sophist on July 15, 2006, 07:47:26 pm
well
depending on what the enemy wants
if its a caster it will need to distance itself from link (and try to shield himself if hes good enough)
if its closecombat it will fight link and attempt to block his attacks
while link does the same
etc etc, thats pretty basic...

Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time , Help me put up stratagy?
Post by: moree on July 15, 2006, 07:51:30 pm
The fist battle is AGAINST Link :P lol
But like I sayed: ANY stratagy would be great!
so for those basics: thanx though ;D

any others?, first battle should be easy, but Link has to have a stratagy! :D

I guess you talk to him at least 6 times, and I'm done doing 4 of them.. I'm currently busy with the fighting against him ;D

I'm back.. and so is the feeling of doing something not-gamemaking ;D

I had a great time!, met new people, got new friend, and a lot of other things. ;D

I'm going to put more time in my friends from now on, so there's not going to be 99% gamemaking a day...

and not only that.. I realy need a girlfriend :P
so I'm putting more time in that too :(

progress: I found lots of bugs in the game suddenly, as if my eyes were opened ::)
so I fixed them.. there are lot's of spelling mistakes :P (I'm not english so that's a good excuse)

there was also a little bug in the "night" "day" system, so I fixed that too
door will close if it's night, and will stay open on day, light comes out of the windows and doors at day.
People of hyrule town, will go inside there homes when it's night,
at one of the pictures at the first post, you can see a pub/bar, (whatever), and people sitting there too
at night these people are inside the pub/bar.
there are some people still outside at night... but thats becouse I didn't program them yet :P

uhm.. actualy I don't know what to say any more..., If there's any question taht should be answerd, just ask me ;D

Post by: moree on July 27, 2006, 11:35:56 am
Every time I wan't to make a game, I realy want to keep original...
but when I check all games:

zelda: shadow of time
Metroid: time
dimensional parasites: but your going in time :S

but the zelda game isnt realy what you think it is.. couse it's not like YOU go in time, but the past comes to you... (very strange a)
I don't wan't to spoil all of it, so I'm keeping this a little misterious ::)

Sorry for being away for so long, I'm quite busy these days, and with my new school coming up in a few days, it's going to be a lot worser :o
I'll try to update the game as much as I can, but with this speed: naked snail in wintersleep, progress is as good as dead.. more like wintersleep actualy.

I think It's best if this topic is moved to "Zelda Early Production & Ideas" becouse there's not going to be an update any time soon :(

For all those fans out here: I'm REALY sorry!, I hope you can forgive me :-\

1 small little update though ;D , I modified the day/night engine a little bit, It's much more flexible now ( can do almost every thing with it)
and a update that not realy counts: movement is beter, and I added more charecters in the game.

we'l meet again ;)
and have a nice day...

and please forgive me...

I know It hurts to see a game with this pogress speed, but please forgive me...

please...
(should I stop begging?)
please!

Alright guys, here's an update after a TOO long time :D

there was a big problem with the "going into" and "out of" battle, so I fixed that!

I don't realy have much update time.. but I'm more inspired than last time, SO there will be more updates from now on!

AND I would like to thank Laigonaz for suporting! I'm back on this project thanx to him!
and I thank those other fans also who still are waiting patiently for some updates...

Update: added some NPC's, but there are still LOTS of them to make..

and I made a poll...

You guys think it's a great idea not to make a invulnerability time, so you can make combo's while fighting?
(like: slamming a octorok against the wall, while he bounces back, and you hit him again.)
(OR : slamming the octorok right in the air, and right before he lands, you charge your attack and blast him out of your screen :P (note: he will appear on the other side of the screen though))

Great moree, but don't use filehosting.cc no more, it compresses the files into documents!
Alright, thanx for the info. And thanx for voting :D

Update: added more NPC's, and I still have to do a lot more of them...

Here's a question:

My night/day system is very flexible, BUT when it gets dark, there's no color effect, it just gets dark-blue slowly...
so I make: that when it get's night, there's a yellow/orange color in it?, and light blue when it get's day again?
This will take some time to make it, but it would shure look better!

Should I make this a semi-priority for the demo, or should I make it after the demo?

Got em.

Not realy what I expected though...
The engine itself is very good, and the timeline of it is perfect.
But every engine is based on a different timeline in my game, so this wouldn't do the job...
Doesn't mater though, I learnd some things about it that I definetly can use ;D thank you :)

And update:
I sticked everything of the " advanture, the beginning" together.
there are just small things to do and the storyline(begin till the end of the demo) will be complete!
Although a lot of NPC do not have anything to do in the demo, I still have to make them.. else there will be a lot of empty houses every were :P

I'm still deciding what kind of transition I'm gona use to go into and out of battle... (I'm NOT using any pokemon like transition(just so'd you know.))

Sorry for the long wait...   UPDATE TIME! :jellytime:

1. All the NPC's are placed in the first demo!
2. Although it was not a top priority, I made the night/day engine more colorfull, and flexible! (credit to: "ffomega25" and "Laigonaz"!)
3. Added a piece of the storyline to the game!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Things I still have to do to make the first demo:
1. Add the last parts of the storyline to the game
2. Make the night and day a little bit longer, couse it goes too fast!
3. Some NPC's change position and place when it's night or day, but some don't, so I'll have to program that to.
4. Some little extra's that I can't come up with right now... :P

this looks really cool. its nice to have another game aside from zelda 2 with that combat style. anyways. i look foward to playing this...just... the in battle sprites dont match the out of battle ones... ::)
Title: Re: TLOZ: shadow of time.
Post by: moree on October 12, 2006, 10:09:04 pm
Thanx all ;D

I made some updates to the sprites, those images on the first post are quite old.

the main character has brown hair, so does he has "in battle" mode, and his suit is light green (just like "out of battle" mode)

And The "out of battle" Link character has the same colors as the"in battle" Link character.

it does look beter now then the screens on the first post :)

I made multible demo's for diferent people to test, and when they all are finished testing, than I will stick every thing together to make a gaint Demo ;D

I was planning to make a trailer movie.. but "fraps"(record program) doesn't like me :(
anyway, It's bed time for me..  although I'm not realy sleepy...
and tomorow early out of bed to make some progress on the game! :jellytime:

Sorry for the double post, but Would like to enounce two things ;D

1:
UPDATE TIME!!!
I havent realy made progress with anything exept for debugging and unglitching some things.
Like: Sprite corection, text corection, walking in/out houses and up/down the stairs, and more...

2:
I will soon start with changing the codes of the fighter engine! (the "getting hit" codes)
SO that means the poll will be closed in a few days!
I can wait longer ofcourse, and do this at the end.
I'll have to wait to make some parts of progress, couse there was a glitch that I couldn't fix
So I'm letting Laigonaz take a look at it :D

All the glitches are fixed!(about time!)

so just only:
adding the last piece of storyline to the game's demo,
and adding some extra things.
after that, I will change a little of the engine of the A.I, so it can do: "whatever the poll sayes"

I guess I have to agree with Laigonaz..
I thought about this a long time ago, but I still wanted to go on with this project...
I'm at an higher school for Game designers, and I would like to start my very own game.. I have a lot of idea's already but I can't work on them becouse of this, and even more projects (fan-games)
I will complete the demo though!
I added the last piece of storyline to the demo, and I'm now (again) unglitching everything.
after the demo, this project (also) will be closed

I am considering to continue it, but I will delete all zelda-ish things. but I'm not even sure about that...

So for now.. let's just wait for the demo to arive....

And a lot of sprites ofcourse...

but coming think of it... your laigonaz sprites are made all by yourself.. although you could have used a zelda basis... but nobody can see that :P
so you'll only have to change most of the tiles :D ( and some spirtes, but that isn't much)

And my game's sprites and tiles, are ONLY zelda related... that seems like a awfull lot of spriting to do :P
