ACTION SHOOTER

What is Action Shooter? Action Shooter is a platform shooter from REBirth Gaming that pokes fun at popular shooters of that very genre. The game holds just as much action as jokes, though! Although since this is a very early beta, not much script writing has been done yet, thus cutscenes are missing/auto-skipped.
There's still a lot of things missing/unpolished, but it's still very detailed and layed out well for being so early in developement.

CUTSCENES AND MENU DESIGN ARE COMPLETELY TEMPORARY,
AND SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED AS THE FINAL PRODUCT.

Features:
  • 360 aiming (Mouse controlled)
  • Ragdoll Physics

  • Point-precision damage *

* What I mean by "point-recision" damage is, shoot enimies in the head, it's a headshot. Shoot them in legs, they fall to their knees. Body shoots push back more.

Just a side note.
I'm looking for voice actors and comedic writers who know modern shooter games well, and can write jokes that players of those games and non-players alike would get. Voice actors must have a decent mic also. PM me if you're dedicated and interested.

I actually like how you laid this topic out, Drew. It's really nice and detailed :). The graphics seem to suite ragdoll physics really well. I haven't tried this game yet, but is there going to be a multiplayer feature? Judging from screenshots, your game looks like it has a lot of potential for an online mode.

Multiplayer? As of right now, nothing confirmed.
But it might be possible in the future.

haha Yea, it's one of the games parodied in Action Shooter. (and the only one you get to play in the demo, besides the training course)

Now that you mention it, i really didn't glance at the title at all >.>, just hovered and read the plot of the level.

No problem :) I am 100% sure this game will be full of even more win when it is complete.

You should add a beat down attack mode or something... you know, when your guy is berserk, he can execute kick ass combos(eg: Up, Down, Left, Space == Snapping someones neck). I think that'll be good for the slo-mo mode :D. Oh, and you know how in games you see the characters image duplicated behind them? I think you should add that just to add the effect to making the character seemingly fast even though the display is sllooowww.

Oh, no, there isn't yet. Other than doing your own combos. lol
But I might add it, who knows.

But there are character/bullet trails while in slo-mo.

*Claps* I don't normally give out praise, but thats a good game, well thought out with good attention to detail. However 2 quick things;

1. You have a physics engine, but your not using it to its fullest! Trying sticking some physics traps in, or vehicles or something. Just using it for boxes and particles, seems a bit of a waste.
2. Less of the window breaking :P. Its more suprising if you do it less often.

That demo was fun, the end was a bit of a nightmare (gah, 5 tries to get past the army of spanish human things) but atleast the chainsaw guy didn't kill me most of the time. Also, its annoying when you get pinned in by 2 groups, you have no chance of surviving! And I found out how much 'nades hurt, I ran into one that I didn't see bounce back to me XD

I'm so foolish to not remember that you never fail to make your game (unless, of course, the gmd becomes corrupt ;)).
This thing is way more improved compared to the little walking demo you gave me. Almost reminds me of Soldat completely, but more feeling to the game when playing by yourself. Well, it IS what it was meant for, right?
 Do you plan to add recoils?

Thanks for the props. I'm glad you liked it.
As for recoils, I never really planned to. But I suppose I could if it's not too much trouble./me adds it to the "to-do" list

I'm working on some random Duke3d stuff now :P quick question though; are you able to do some very basic geometries in the backgrounds (well I mean using GM's 3d functions of course; like rectangles)... That determines how Ima do this :P

New details. :P

We added some cool new effects, such as random stuff smacking against the screen. haha
As seen in this pic, I threw a grenade, causing a huge blood splat on the screen and pieces of wood from the crates exploding hit the screen and crack it. :P haha

Note that the blood splat and crack graphics are completely temporary.
Plus it looks much better in motion than in the screenshot. :P

Well, I've made a video showing off the Nightvision/Flashlight Engine and also the early Grenade Launcher attachment for the shotgun. The video was shot in a test room. Note that it is also being played on the "Easy" difficulty, thus, health regenerates on it's own.

It's much lighter in game, especially in full screen (I played in windowed mode). Youtube just killed the quality. If it's too dark in the high quality version, I'm not sure why o_O

I'll talk to Drew about that though.
