It's a work in progress project, based on "Link to the Past", which features 2 ways of playing : single (with history) and multiplayer, which is a deathmatch arena. This is the most interesting feature, in my opinion. You can run it under Windows XP/7, Linux and MacOS. All done in Java. Yes it is ! Zildo is in the place !
I just wanted to keep the Zelda's spirit, because I love this universe. But my goal was also to provide a personal thing.
By now, it's not really achieved, but I'm working on it ! Soon I'll release the 1.095 with a real episode for single player.
Did you try the game ? I'm really interested about feedbacks.

Story :
You can play with this Link-looking hero through the beginning of his adventures. You will gain a sword and be charged by the king of an important mission. But will you succeed ?

If you want any users to pay much attention to this project, I suggest embedding screenshots and adding a little bit more in the way of a description of the project - what you can do, what features are available, etc.

Thank you for the advice ! I've already posted some screenshots, but you're right about the descriptions. It's lacking a little bit ... I'll do some efforts about that !

I was referring to posting them in this topic itself, not on the your Google Code page. Users here aren't going to bother themselves to look at your project if you won't put effort into your post.

I'm aware that you're not entirely a native English speaker, but there's a bad connection with "ildo". xD The equivalent french-word I'm thinking of right now is "un godemiché or godemichet", if that gives you an idea of what we're trying to say.
Though I look forward to seeing screenshots and it is nice to see a Linux game on here!

Hey, I'm worried about your comments ;) Indeed, I'm french and I never realized that, but when you translate, it's getting crystal clear ! You make me think : maybe it's time to change his name !
By the way, I updated the description into this site yesterday, and I'll upload the last release too, because I've seen that the 10mb limit is over.

Well I checked out your video and I must say, good job on writing a fully functional ALTTP-like engine in Java. :) The only turn off so far was the music.

Yes I ripped everything, except for the music ! It's from my own, because I like composing. It couldn't be a Zelda without them !

LOL don't worry bud, we know it's not a porn game. If you want to keep the same feel playing on the "Zelda" name being slightly different, why not try:
-Zoldo
-Zaldi
-Zald
-Zaldo
etc.
The game itself looks pretty good so far though :)

LOL. I think you only have to avoid any names with ILDO and you'll be a-okay sir ;)

I was working on the Android port of Zildo, and it's almost ready to be dropped on Google Play !
But what do you think about it guys ? Would you be interested in playing Zelda fan game on your phone ? I haven't found any one on the store, and maybe Zildo will be the first one.

I actually downloaded some Zelda roms for the GBC games today on my Andriod. The touch screen makes it hard to play. It would be awesome if you made gameplay like Phantom Hourglass (I feel like I'll get flamed here), but I guess with some modifications.

About the gameplay, I decided to hide every buttons at screen, so the whole viewport is dedicated to the game. I tried Phantom Hourglass on DS, but I found it hard to play, especially for making Link rolling ! (There's no roll with Zildo !)
In my version, which is temporary, you touch the screen anywhere and the move you do with your finger give the direction for Zildo. As long as you hold your move, Zildo keeps moving. About buttons, the right half of the screen is divided into two regions : top for action (talk, pick up, skip dialog...) and bottom for weapon. To get into Zildo's inventory, just touch him.
I find it not too bad, for now, but I need your impressions, because gameplay is very important in my opinion. Regardless of the graphics quality, sound, or whatever, a player can have a really bad feeling about a game just because the gameplay is painful.

Hello people !
Just to say that the extended Episode 1 will be released very soon. I just have some translations to finish, and it will be right here in few days.
In this release, there's much more quests and scenario is more interesting. On the other side, the multiplayer side hasn't done any progress. Focus was on adventure this time.
And last, but not least : Android version will be released at the same time than classic platforms.

Just watched the trailer. Looks solid from that 57 seconds. Only thing that got me was the music seemed overly cheerful and i may have seen a misspelled word in there. No big deal though since it doesn't affect gameplay.

You're right about the misspelled word ! But happily it has been fixed by a better english writer than me. I haven't re-captured the video, but it's alright in the game !

It would probably be easier to pass with your game if you changed the main character's appearance and a few more things. Anything that is directly related to Zelda might cause offense.

I guess you're right. I'm searching tilesets/sprites replacements right now, and there is more than I thought on Internet ! Free tilesets looking very good (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/kallepus/zelda212.gif for example).
Besides, some things are simpler, but will make the difference I think with an ALTTP fangame (forbidden by Nintendo, I mean) : fonts and game name. Without the "Legend of Zildo" title, I'll be less related to the famous franchise.

I actually hate Nintendo but eh, I'm about to change a ton of names in SoT right now. It'll still have a few resemblances but that's just that.
