As some of you may or may not know, Ive been working on a platformer with my coder for about the last two months, we're very happy with how everything has progressed and the time has come for the first public demo.

but first, why is it called the 'Pilot Episode Demo'? because this game is a TV show, and features the first level as the pilot episode, the first level may change in the final game, just how the first episode in a TV show may be remade if the show gets picked up, time will tell.

so, let me get on with it.
here are some screens:

what does the demo feature? play it yourself and find out!
the controls are as follow:
    * f4 - toggle full screen
    * shift - run
    * z - jump
    * x - sword
    * c - magic ball
    * enter - start
    * arrow keys - move
but, if you have a controller, I highly suggest downloading joy2key and playing the game with that

spend some time mastering the controls and how Twinsen moves and attacks, there are also a few secrets in the demo, if you don't figure them out after a few weeks, I'll tell you them

Okay, heres the demo link:
Twinsen Pilot Episode Demo
(windows only sorry)
I'd really appreciate if some of you guys could mirror it also
ENJOY

Go ahead, I don't care. I love this demo. It's very smooth and very professional. So far I haven't encountered any bugs. This game looks very promising and shows great potential.

I love it!  :D
The graphics are simple but nice, and I love the way he attacks.
I saw that little dude in your avatar a while ago and I was wondering what it was, and now I know.

I love it! The combos are cool, I figured out an awesome way to kill the dragonflies(x while running, then X, then up X the other way)
As always .Takam's graphics are awesome! I finished it so know I need more!

Screenies look very nice, however whenever  run it I get the whole "unexpected error" thing. However, I think it's because I don't have enough free memory. I'll free some up and try again.

EDIT: Shut down Firefox, iTunes, and Photoshop, which I swear are the most memory-hogging programs on earth, and when combined create a demon that has no other purpose but to transform yur computer into a sluggish pile of crap, and played it again - and, WOW, you have acheived a completely professional quality - everything was nice and spiffy, but not too bloated or fancified, all the tiling is also like that, the sounds are awesome, and overall the whole thing just seems very professional. Honestly, if I had bought a GBA game and that was it, I would not have batted an eye. Even though I hate rating, I have to say, 10 out of 10 stars so far.

The only improvements I would suggest are:
-When he runs, have him get to max speed a little faster. It takes a pretty long strip to get to max speed, or what seems like it, and there aren't many opportunities to do that.
-Make the speed that he moves (sideways) when falling a little slower. I died numerous times because I dind't realize it and was too late to move in the opposite direction a few times.
-And ( though I assume this was already in the plan) replace the unoriginal sound effects with original ones.

I would actually suggest selling this game online once it is complete. It's incredibly good.

EDIT #2: Also, I uploaded it to my regular file host, not my server, but whatever. :P

I like it :)
Still, I don't know what does that character has with the storyline...
And I think the character should have more speed.
I'm waiting to see a new demo ;)

Yeah, it was kind of a weird jump from a "fantastic new reality show" to "BALD SAMURAI ACTION!". XD

Wow, I like you game a lot. I do have to agree that you should get the falling speed to be a little less because I died about five times while trying to play the game. As always the graphics are awesome, but when haven't your sprites looked good like that? Good Luck with the game!

Is this Twinsen supposed to be the same one as the one from Relentless and Twinsen's Adventure? Either way, looking really good so far, although...I absolutely suck at this game. D:

Alright first off, it looks amazing, very professional quality.  Secondly the menu is great, smooth as well and very fast load times.  I'm not really a fan of most platformers so it's not my favourite game, but I have loved some of the old Mario games, and I think I could love this for it's interesting plot and great game play, but the controls just seemed off.  (I played with my keyboard).  It's just a bit too clunky, but of course I see you can customize controls so that's great.  Also when jumping and landing I don't know if it was me or it was hard to tell if you were jumping too far or too little, that killed me several times.  Anyways I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes and good luck.

Of course as I expected, the visuals are great. What I don't love though is the combat - it is smooth, but when you do the combos (e.g. hold the arrow key while attacking) you slide forward and it seems weird to movements. It made me fall of the platform many times. I'd suggest making the sword longer too, it seems too short  and hard to hit people. And throwing the ball was weird...I couldn't really aim it and it just bounced around.

Wow, that was brilliant! Excellent graphics and excellent gameplay... I did, however, notice that many (if not all) sound effects were ripped from Zelda, and the intro music was obviously from Golden Sun.

I didn't like the fact that you slide a lot, and gain a lot of momentum, however. When defeating the Boko Baba-esque enemy, to jump onto the platform in the sea, I would need to get on the lower platform first, however my character "slipped" and fell wide.
I hope you understand what I mean :P...

Anyway, overall, great game :D! Can't wait for more from you ^-^.
