Coding / [Request] Old Ocarina engine/demonstration
« on: November 18, 2021, 04:58:32 am »
Long ago, in the early-mid naughties, there was a playable ocarina engine/tech demo - fairly sure it was GameMaker based but not 100% - released on ZFGC. It used modified GBC graphics, if memory serves. And there was a profane easter egg if one played all "A"s that I think made the engine very memorable.

But I lost my copy of it years ago, and I don't know if it's still up anywhere. I forget who made it.

Does anyone still have this engine kicking around? Is it actually still available anywhere?

It's horribly dated now, I know, but I'm a nostalgic sort. And, well, the easter egg makes my inner 3rd grader laugh.

So yeah. I have decided to try my hand at the whole "Let's Play" thing with A Link to the Past, because I can play it from memory. Pretty much. 3 parts done so far.

Where would I look this stuff up?

Yeah, it's the cartridge. Seasons and Link's Awakening both work fine.

Well, crud. Now I find myself wishing it was the battery, because I can replace the battery. Does anyone know how to fix it if it's the EEPROM?

How would I be able to tell if there was? Would there be any sign on the circuit board if that was the case?

Well that's just great. If that's the case then my save file's toast isn't it?

My Oracle of Ages cartridge is malfunctioning. It won't load the game. I cleaned the contacts, which got it to load the Nintendo vanity plate without glitching, but it won't load anything after that. The circuit board looks fine as far as I can tell, but I'm no expert. Can anyone help me?

Discussion / Re: Kyra and Maureen (working title)

Maureen runs away and almost walks into mortal danger. Kyra saves her, and they fall in love. I don't want to totally spoil it, though.

Maureen: Human woman. Lawyer who vacates her apartment and runs away after one failed defense too many.
Kyra: Fairy woman. Free-roaming, and prefers to be skyclad. Keeps to herself usually, but tries to help those around her who are in need.
This is a love story.

Updates / Re: Organization Changes

I meant that I had just gotten used to everything being the way it was and then it changed again. I'll ask my question a second time, because I didn't get an answer: what gives with the typing-box text being so bloated? Everything's gone all wonky. I had to refresh the site twice just to get the controls to appear.

I am sorely tempted to leave. Just when I was getting used to everything... As an aside, what gives with the typing-box text being so bloated?

I prefer GM to anything else I've tried(especially since you don't have to buy it to use it at all. The Games Factory's so-called trial doesn't let you do anything >:(). Also, I prefer version 5.3A of GM. XD For one thing, it's compatible with some of my essential game engines, which would be a !@#$% to rewrite(GM6 is backwards compatible, my ass). I've found GM easier to use than anything else, even though getting it to do everything I want is a bit difficult. :D

Recruitment / Collided Worlds artist recruitment
« on: December 10, 2008, 09:44:35 pm »
I need someone who can help draw some promotional images for my Sonic/Star Wars/Zelda/Lupin III/Pokemon crossover. I only ask because the only scanner in the house refuses to recognize it's connected to a computer even though the printer it's part of does. ::)
Main protagonists include:
Luke Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker(Yes, there's dead characters back to life in this. Sue me. ;))
Link and Zelda (Ocarina of Time era Link and Zelda)
MewTwo
Sonic the Hedgehog
Shadow the Hedgehog
Lupin III
The Jedi Master Fay(look her up on Wookieepedia for images)
Maria Robotnik as a Jedi(look up who she is if need be, her robes are blue, she has two lightsabers in this. One has a yellow blade, the other's blade incorporates the colors of the Chaos Emeralds)

Main antagonists include:
Metal Sonic
Ganondorf Dragmire (Ocarina of Time era looks)
Mysterious Sith Lord(seen from behind, hair is auburn)

IMPORTANT:Sonic non-human character height proportions are those of Sonic Adventure. (I.E., Sonic same height as average human)

I'm devoted to this, and I do think it's worth telling. I've written too many essays, and breaking the blandness habit formed of that is difficult. One of my downfalls. As for paragraphs, WordPad isn't the best for formatting. Why use it, then? you might ask. My answer is, it hasn't changed over the years. I do some of the typing at school on computers that have an older version of MS Word that doesn't agree with the newer version(I hate that inter-version incompatibility). FanFiction.Net doesn't preserve source formatting, which is a !@#$%, but my GeoCities account is full. I am looking for a better place to host my stuff, Collided Worlds will eventually have a website all its own, but... I know I'm not the best at this, and my story-writing is rather rusty. But I'm working to improve, so please be patient. I might choose to give you guys a story from farther ahead in the saga to show you what I can do.

How it all fits together will be explained soon(that will be the purpose of Volume 1, Chapter 5). Just a warning: Ships(but not characters or FTL technology) from the new BSG are imported because I like them(in-story reasoning is to counter some of the villains' newer starship designs) in the Flight of the Viper installments in the second third of the New Clone Wars. Please don't fretch.

Anyway, my writing gets better as the story goes on. I read a well-written novel that has really helped brush up my form It's too late to rewrite what I already finished, but I promise Volume 1, Chapter 6 will be be good. There will also be a comic portion to the whole thing, and I will share the comics with you guys as soon as the frakking scanner is sorted out.
