Entertainment / Cel-shaded OOT Mod [download]
« on: July 10, 2006, 12:20:28 am »
I'm pretty sure you guys've heard of the cel-shaded OOT mod made by djipi at emutalk.net.  Well I know that many of you thought this was pretty cool but couldn't manage to get all the files you need to make it work, or had issues getting it to work, or whatever else.  I'm a big fan of this mod and so I've compiled a little package for people to be able to experience this.

The only thing i could *not* package with the package is the Ocarina of Time rom, for legal reasons.  That you'll have to source yourself, but that is easy enough to find.  If you find a rom that doesn't work, then find a different rom, there are a couple versions of the US rom that this won't work with, but it works best with a EU OOT rom (good luck finding it).

Requirements:

Winrar (file is rar, also contains a .7z file)

Instructions:

http://www.gamersadvanced.com/blackmage/wwoot/ww-oot-install.txt

Download: 120 MB

Includes:

-  Djipi's Final Cel-Zelda Mod package
-  Final update to above package
-  Menu upgrade/fix for some OOT versions (see screenshots below)
-  BMGLIB dll file -- required for loading the textures
-  Rice's video plugin and Azimer's Audio plugin (The former is required, the latter is not, but seems to work better for me)
-  Basic Install instructions
-  1964 Installer.

ZFGC needs its members from staff to newbie to care for the forum and nurture it into something that can grow naturally.

ZFGC needs more zelda

ZFGC needs fan games

ZFGC needs admins that aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot (like I did)

ZFGC needs things like tutorials, classes, tips & tricks, good C&C (comments and criticisms)

ZFGC needs to start over from base one and redefine what ZFGC is.  Why was zfgc here?  What went right when it grew?

what do you guys think the answers to those questions are?

I'm going to lock this now.  Not because theres not some good points.  I've clearly done wrong here.  That was quite a wake up call.

This type of thing is what needs to stop

I am now on hiatus from zfgc's administration, as my status denotes.  I want to step back to where I began and see where I went wrong in the whole thing.  I want to go back and get to know the community back to front again like once before.  I want to experience zfgc again as a member.

Yes i still have my administration powers but only for use if something drastic happens.  Until then, I am a member, and am to be treated like a member (even if that means i get banned).

People don't take pride in their memberships.  They don't care about the others in the community, or the community itself.  Ultimately thats why both DSR and zfgc forums will fail if things aren't fixed.

If mis-representation is what i'm being charged with, then so be it, I will gladly remove myself from my position than run a set of forums with groups of people that don't care about the community in the least.

YOU are what has caused this whole mess.  And until YOU care enough to fix the issue, then these communities are worthless.  Admins can only facilitate the day-to-day operations of the forum.  It is up to the members to build the bonds.  That does not happen here.

Think about that for a minute or two.

This place is still basically a spam hole while a few good dozen or two members, some being staff, are still here.  I will mention no names.  Perhaps its not as bad as it used to be, but I refuse to affiliate myself with it as it stands.  Thats why my name is not red and thats why I am not actively running the place.

I gave you all what the membership wanted and I stepped down and you are all able to do whatever you wanted, which essentially is everything.

What goes around, comes around.  Just remember that.  If you want compliments from me, show me something to compliment.

Things here have improved but zfgc is still headed for destruction.  It is still a disgrace to the Zelda Community, it has completely lost touch with what it is about.  This site either needs a rename or people need a reality check.  I check here only to laugh at most of you, not all, but most.  Things are in dire need of improving, or zfgc will fall.   Hard.

Until then, !@#$% zfgc.  Most of you have shown me nothing but insensitivity and failure to care about the well being of the community.  I refuse to be walked on and then be asked why this place sucks.  Wow yes I know that is conceited, but without me this place would have fallen long ago.

The clock is ticking....

Or like $150 one time upgrade fee.

To my knowledge it isn't a ram issue... theres processes getting stuck.

You wont find the mod on simplemachines.org, because I wrote it.

I'm assuming you're familiar with how 1.1 RC2 handles its member data.  in Display.template.php:

Find:

Code: [Select]
// Now handle usernames..

Now I didn't include the code block that it will be, because ZFGC's themes are most likely different than DSR's considering that I heavily edited the member display template.  But the heading should be the same.   Anyways... At the appropriate position after this block, preferably below the main username (see one of my posts on DSR), add this code...

Code: [Select]
// Is this person hiding behind a false screenname? If so, blow their cover...

if ($message['member']['name'] !== $message['member']['username'])
     {
          echo $message['member']['username'];
     }

If you continually refresh the page the webserver thinks it is a form of an attack and stops it.  Thus you will get throttled.  Wait 30 seconds to a minute and you'll be good.

Welcome to the internet.

Regarding lag... Something is... not quite right with sendmail on the server... for some reason it keeps getting stuck resulting in a server load that can, at times, exceed 50.  I'm trying to find out what is causing it but it is very hard to do so when I cant access SSH while its happening due to the lag :3

pedlya:

how DARE you speak to a member that way!?!?  And you're staff... Now i know why I left this place again... *sigh*

When i set the permissions up for this place no group had permission to change their names... So somewhere along the way someone allowed this.  IMO unless you have the mod that displays the true membernames on the ability to change display names shouldn't be active.

Just my two cents.

I *still* don't know what is up with the 403 forbidden errors.

It only appears to happen in SMF...

Its definitely not just my server, its got to be something with SMF... i've visited a few other sites which are having the same issue with the 403 errors.

Nevertheless I am still trying to find out wtf it is.

point in case... the 403 errors do *not* mean the site is down... wait 30 seconds and refresh and it should work fine.

I've been doing slight maintenance on apache for the last few days to accomodate another of my hosted sites.  These are downtimes of 30 seconds to 1 minute, so I'm not seeing where its a major issue O.o

To my knowledge nothing's gone down since the last server reboot 6 days ago. The server was up for about 35 (that was a total guess) days prior, and then 69 days prior to that.

Code: [Select]
zfgc2b1@zfgc.com [~]# uptime
 15:36:01 up 6 days, 17:55,  1 user,  load average: 0.35, 0.42, 0.25
zfgc2b1@zfgc.com [~]#

I'm sorry, I can't allow this due to the legal ramifications..

And thats not even getting into maintaining my good standing with Nintendo of America that i'm trying to build through DSR.  I can't afford to let it happen in either regard

Its not an smf bug.

Its an incompatibility in the theme he's using with the current version of SMF.

Thats why the themes were always changing with zfgc and going down for a day or two, for theme changes because otherwise they would become decrepit and break :P

Thats all it is.

I use it for other things as well... There are other sites running on it as well, and also a teamspeak server and one of windfyre.net's leaf IRCd servers.  It will soon be being used as a media server as well.

the kokiri theme that is installed came from kirby's backups, it is the one and only original smf kokiri theme.  It was never finished and unless kirby feels ambitious it probably will never be

The zora theme is not 100% either, but it is very close.

The Dark Blue theme is the only completed one of the bunch.

If you want the zfgc-x theme on the forums then it needs to be turned into an SMF skin, it is not compatible as is from Invisionfree.
