Banning tor nodes is a pointless idea and removes the ability of people who use tor ligitimately.

x - y = -40            = -2x + 2y = 80
Where did you get the 2y from? :S

By distributing -2 on both sides of the equation.

-2(x - y) = -2(-40)
-2x + 2y = 80
.

See, there's thing thing called Solving systems using Elimination... and I have examples of how to do it, but it still bamboozles me.
The example question I have is:
2x - 5y = -158
x - y = -40

And I have the answer... but I have no clue it was done.
Can somebody show me step by step please?

Code: [Select]
2x - 5y = -158       = 2x - 5y = -158
x - y = -40            = -2x + 2y = 80

Multiply x - y = -40 by -2 on both sides.

-5y = -158
+2y = 80

x terms cancel out.

-3y = -78

Add together

y = -78/-3 = 26, y = 26

Divide -3 from both sides.

x - 26 = -40

Fill in for y.

x = 26 - 40 = -14, x = -14

Solve for x.

2(-14) - 5(26) = -158
 -28 - 130 = -158 (check)

x = -14, y = 26.

Well, this topic is 9 years late :P.

The IPv6 one is better; has color on displays that can support it.
Yeah, States that at the beginning.

Ahhh... haven't watched it in years.  I know they've added new scenes since then.  Didn't know they displayed that in the beginning now.

youd have some troubbles with that because the motherboard aint no charger.you would have to have some wiring mods.

Except, often USB hosts will give power.  That is how you can use USB devices without having to plug them into the wall, or have batteries in them. It has nothing to do with motherboards.

um, question, wouldn't Mac-based be classified under UNIX-based?

Now they are one in the same, although Mac based would be more NeXTSTEP based, which is a step away from the conventional Unices.

windows xp
most compatable

That is complete hogwash.  Windows is the opposite of compatible.  'Compatible' with games, yes.  But if we are talking about compatibility with other systems anything POSIX based(which Windows is not) is the most.

Anyway, I use a range of Unices from OS X, to Solaris, to FreeBSD and Irix, and many more.

Debates / Re: Our eyes and what they see.
« on: July 29, 2006, 04:58:33 am »
All eyes see the same colors, unless there are problems with constructs of the eye or the way the brain takes this input.  What you are saying has to do with language, not really how we perceive colors visibly.  For instance; some languages have 'more' colors than others due to having more words for different colors.  The Russian language has a single word for light blue, while English uses an adjective to modify an existing color.  Other languages such as Dani(one from New Guinea) have only two 'colors', or rather, names for colors; specifying 'cool' or 'warm' colors.

This doesn't mean the people who speak these languages see more or less of the colors we see, but just have different names for them.

However, if you are going by the color definition of the visible spectrum of light, you can define a color statically without giving it a name by it's wavelength.  Seeing 'green' is seeing the ~520-570nm wavelength of light and seeing 'red' is seeing the ~630-760nm wavelength.

Its amazing, your all going on about radio waves etc, has no-one mentioned the fibre optic speaker cables etc? You probably have one plugged into your pc right now for your base box or something, lmao.

As far as I know, speaker cables do not use fibre optics. Only traditional metal cords. Speakers do not use digital information... they work off analog signals.

And, yes, I did mention fibre optics.

Radio waves are a form of electromagnetic radiation, not high pitched sound.  Light is just another thing on the electromagnetic spectrum called the 'visible region'.  Everything in the electromagnetic spectrum travels at the speed of light(Microwaves, X-Rays, Radio waves, etc.)  The only differences are the wavelength and frequency of the radiation.

I think by definition light is the entire electromagneticspectrum; the visible part of it is nothing to do with the definition of "light", especially considering that what is and isn't visible depends on the individual. Every part of the spectrum is visible to something.

Many audio and video applications do use a fiber link called toslink.  Not sure if it is used for speakers, as that would kind of be useless.

As far as the definition of light it will depend on who you ask.  Most of the time it is refering to the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum, as well as infrared and ultraviolet.  It can be used in a broader sense however to refer to the entire spectrum.

Justin and I (believe) we have found the issue for this.  An Apache module that tries to recognize DOS attacks through HTTP.  It is known to effect some forums and other pieces of software such as galleries.  Sadly, however; it seems disabling this module in the Apache configuration breaks the otherwise working config.

Since light is said to be the fastest thing ever, couldn't we use light flashes to transfer data from device to device like usb?

A lot of the internet is transmitted using light - right now, I'm connected to the internet via a two-way radio connection (Wi-fi) and many data-transmitting satelittes for the internet use microwave transmissions, as do mobile phones.

Radio waves are ultra high pitch sound, not light.

And yes joe, as everyone has already said; it's already being used.

Electrons move through wires at the speed of light too.

Light is used all the time.  Hell, if you are watching TV, talking on the phone, or using the internet at one point AT LEAST it will go through light modulation in fibers.  Most of the CATV system is hybrid fiber-coax and most of it is transmitted through light.

Many constraints for these speeds come from the medium being transmitted through.  While glass fibers are reliable they still have various impurities.  Passing light through air has atmospheric ramifications and other things.  It also has to deal with the device modulating the light, and the band of light being used.

Using 'light flashes' to transfer things have been around for many, many years.

Check your machine's IP address.  Use ipconfig /all to see the IP for it.  Then try connecting to that one.

Is it listening on the ethernet port?  Try connecting via your computers IP address on the LAN IP address.

Dynamic IP's reset when the internet connection is reset or if the router is reset.

That is a complete load.  Unless you release the DHCP lease, unplug the router for a few hours, and then renew it, there is very little chance of it actually changing when the router is 'reset'.

A DMZ in computer terms is a device behind NAT that the NAT passes all uninitiated packets to if it doesn't find it in it's table.  It essentially makes all that computer's ports open to the outside world.

A dynamic IP does not change every few minutes.  My ISP delivers IPs via DHCP which is 'dynamic' and I've had the same IP address for over two years.  Unless you have dial-up which would be a bad idea for running a game server, DynDNS is fine.  If you are going to host a game server, and have no other computers acting as a server, I advise to set the computer you will host on as a DMZ if your router supports it; if you do this though, it is advisable to have a firewall on the server machine and keep the machine updated.  If you are going to port foward, just foward the port the application listens on, or a small range of ports.

Wally are you back or something? :P

IGC: www.Skeetendo.com/IGC/index.php?

and lol dracon

Not anymore. I was going to help the community, because I can almost never turn down a challenge... But then there was an event on the chat that leads me to believe that it's beyond help as it is.

Yeah, walnut's immaturity in #zfgc was shocking. Still, he lost his IRCop status for abuse so I guess he'll behave now.

Well... Look at it from my point of view.

I come in with a funny nickname, you get huffy over it and tell me to CHANGE IT. NAO. Of course, doing it that way won't work. You then banned my nick. I switched from Java to mIRC, which put me back in the channel automatically... as walnut100. So you'd see that it was a joke. All is well? Not really, because you then got huffy about not being able to do anything to an IRCop, and yelling ABUSE ABUSE ABUSE ABUSE, when I could've done the same thing without coming into the channel at all -.- Max took away my oper (Which I do believe he doesn't have the right to do in the first place) and you kept shouting ABUSE ABUSE OH WOE IS TO ME WALNUT IS AN ABUSER. MiN got a hop somewhere in the mix, and if you've been on ZFGC as long as I have, you'd know that MiN is funny about abuse... In a do as I say not as I do sort of way. What did I really abuse? Nothing that wasn't your own fault, except for coming in as walnut100 to show you that all "should" have been well. And if that had bothered you so much, I could've just asked Pyra or Winnar to tell you all -.-

The point I'm trying to make here is, if the staff is whiney, the forums won't grow. Behave? You know me... !@#$% like this makes me worse. My personality thrives off of adrenaline... If I wanted to, I could make Hell on the forums for as long as I please... Evading a ban isn't hard. Evading a ban on the chat's a little harder, but doable.

Considering I'm higher up than you and Justin allowed me to, I think I have every right to remove you :P.
