It's also a bit pretentious to say a film that has only had theater sales is "the best movie of the decade", since a good chunk of its sales are going to come from home video sales.

Lol what do sales have to do with it? Being the best has nothing to do with tickets or dvd's sold.

that said, I dunno if it should be on this list.

uh, everyone here is aware that the animation was done with MoCap right?
MoCap can still look bad if the skinning isn't done flawlessly.  I'm not saying that's the case, I havent seen the film, it looks pretty awesome from the trailers.

The cinema has nothing to do with it.

Well it's either that or your vision.

Yeah I suppose his vision could be better than yours, you're right.  However it's probably just a difference of opinion.

Ermmmm, no. Saying animations act one way when they in fact act another isn't down to opinion. It would be like saying Call of Duty was cell shaded but then backing up and saying "Well it's my opinion".

"looking natural" is something that is hard to quantify.  Neither of you is RIGHT, it's down to human interpertation whether something "looks natural."  In his opinion it looks unnatural, i yours it looks natural.

Games: Wind Waker, Kingdom Hearts (whole series)

Film: Juno, PoTC (whole series)

DJ knows where it's at.
Game-wise yes, but as far as movies are concerned? Sorry but I'd have to disagree. (I couldn't stand that stupid fakeyindie Juno and while the first PoTC was fantastic, they went WAY downhill with each sequel.)

You forgot television.

TV: Firefly, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Peep Show

Who cares about length?  The gameplay itself is sloppy and boring, and while it's got some nice ideas, it executes them all lazily.

Assassins parkour 2 > Assassins parkour 1

True fact.

Dead space is a game with great graphics, great sound design, and all sorts of other well-designed features, but for some reason I can never get myself dedicated/interested enough to finish it.  Meh :/

I was going to see it, but had other complications on the day I had bought tickets for (see: gall bladder).

I mean, I want to see it purely as a visual treat for the eyes-- planned on going to a 3D IMAX, would have been pretty awesome.

The story? I'm sure it's !@#$%.

kevin, there's no need to censor (or partially sensor as you did) your own language, there's a filter built into the board (which you can turn off in your options if you like.)

Also what? If you already have xbox live, than just log into that account on your PC, and no you don't have to pay for it again.

I'm not too fond of most anime, but I enjoyed Code Geass.  It's got battling robots, war, twists, and unbelievable epicness.

It was recommended to me by a friend who's obsessed with anime, having seen every episode of probably every anime you've ever heard of lol.

The very stereotypical anime high-school parts were annoying though.

Entertainment / Re: Halo Reach thoughts?
« on: December 18, 2009, 04:22:16 am »
It hasn't been milked nearly as much as Nintendo franchises, or Call of Duty. I don't see you can even consider them to be milking this franchise. They've only released three games in the main series, Reach being a fourth. ODST does not count, as it was more of an expansion to Halo 3. If releasing four games in a successful IP over the span of nine years is considered milking the franchise, then I'm going to eat my cat.

ODST certaintly counts-- although it WAS originally intended to be an expansion, they turned it into a full-fledged game, and it was sold at full price at retail. You're also forgetting Halo Wars.

And of course it hasn't been milked as much as Nintendo's franchises, nintendo has had 20 years with its main series', while halo has only been around since 2001 or so.

That said, I like the halo series, and I'll play the next one.  The reach trailer was pretty uninteresting to me tho <_<

Kingdom Hearts II

EDIT:  I really abhor the term "Role-playing game" however-- its totally meaningless.  You play a role in EVERY game you play, most games have deep stories and upgradable parts/stats these days-- RPG is becoming less and less specific.  And if you limit it to turn based games only, then some of my favorite rpgs are no longer rpgs.

Um, there are more new elements in first person shooters these days than ever before.  Go back and play fps games from the late 90's on PC and you'll see that MOST first person shooters are not that different.

Really most videogames aren't that different if you're going to simplify each game so significantly.

Anyways, the newest cod game had an excelently crafted single-player experience, as well as a robust online component, I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

And yeah, MW2 was the highest-selling game ever within the first 24 hours, OF COURSE there's going to be another CoD.

The Beatles are a !@#$% cultural icon in every sense of the word.  Led Zeppelin is a great band, and a lot of the music that I listen to has been influenced by them.

They're all good, but I choose beatles.

I want to like it, but it's so simplistic and recycled in it's gameplay... I just don't think it's very fun.  I like the graphics, I like the concept, it just feels old and boring playing.

Wait... isn't this that retarded movie Adult Swim put up as a "Guess what this film is" like a year ago? It was so cheesy... his accent sucks... and the sex scene had a lot of laughter D:...

Yeah it's the best worst movie.  Well, next to troll 2...
