I was looking at old posts and I came by Darklink´s Zora link. I loved it! It is one of the best (if not the best) Zora sprite I´ve ever seen.
So I edited HIS Zora to make it into a normal zora, I think it would look great in the game!
So before anyone starts jumping at my neck for using somebody´s sprite to make another, I credit Darklink for it.
It is not finished, but I will get on it as soon as you tell me what you think on this.

I did this one a time ago.
Maybe it can help you.

I saw that A while back, but it doesn´t do the trick, I like it though!
I did quite a lot of work!
-Added lateral and back walking animation.
-Changed the palette and added a shine to him, since they are FISH THAT LIVE IN WATER.
-Added 8 different versions of the zora´s fin colours
-Added Zora in water animation (Still)
I still need to do the female version, and the moving in water animation, and maybe even diving.
Again, feedback is always appreciated!
-
I tried the female Zora and it turned out great!
I still need to make all the moves as the other one, but that is plain simple.
What do you think?
-
It hurts my eyes to look at the female Zora because of the background color.
-
Pardon my ignorance here but why is the female Zora pink? Last I checked they were still blue.

It will get changed soon, don´t worry! You can see it on paint by removing the background color

It´s because they are so similar, but I can change it to blue quickly.
-
I think it is almost done? xD
I think that some variations will be added to the female Zora as well, but I think that walk and swim is pretty much all they do?

Looks good, but what they do or not do depends on what you use them for?

They seem chubby. As far as I could tell from the games, Zoras are usually lithe creatures, making them strong swimmers.
Also, females don't always have the "Ruto" heads. Look at Rutella from Twilight Princess.
-
Might be cool to have a few variations. It's not unlikely for a Zora to become chubby or to have Ruto heads.

I was thinking like colour variation and head variation.
-
Just don't make it pink. If you do, make sure the males are pink too.

I am actually researching the zora Morphology to see what colours I should use and what heads I should be putting.

There's only one pink Zora that I know of: Rutella.

I have something for the zoras, post tomorrow

Dude, impressive work. As far as I can tell from the story, the Zora are basically like human NPCs, we probably won't need sprites of anything other than standing and walking for most of them. Or "standing around" in the water (i.e. Swimming), if Link talks to some while swimming.
I think Zoras can be shaped however you want, since there's so much variety in Majora's Mask. There's the little manager guy who doesn't even have a head-tail, he's got a dorsal fin on his back, and there's the drummer who I think is based off a manta ray? And the keyboard guy has a different shaped head too. So basically, I think they can look as wild as you want for each NPC.

I made some zora variations, head and colour

After So many hours, It has reached its completion!
84 different Zoras are in the sheet!
That means 84 NPC´s to code! But you can OBVIOUSLY take the ones you don´t like out, they are so many...
I added King Zora (by Chesu) and Queen Rutela (By Hikolol35)
I think it is done, if you agree, could you be so kind to move it to the accepted section?
-
I really like the variations!
Actually, Steve, if you agree, it might be best if we have a white template of each Zora (with grey shading) and on the code side, we simply put a color overlay. This way we save space on the resources and save time for the artists. What do you think?
-
BIG SHEET!
Yes, I agree with Star. Why not just have one of each variation, but then add a palette for alternate colorations? It'd save on space and work.
-
I did what you asked, I put the Zora colors on a palette and put the Zora grey. I don´t know how it will be done to make the Zora´s in game colorful, Coding Magic, I guess?
-
Yes, we are basically magicians. We'll test with those for now but I suspect we might need them to be lighter (more white).
-
Looks like my Zora Link is getting some love :')
That's massvie work Sprit, like always.

I agree. Also, wouldn't it look be better if the shades of gray don't have that blue/green tint?

I´ll see what I can do about the shade of grey, and the tint one are just an edited version of the first one, see how he doesn´t have the tint?

Well there are more than 45 shades of grey left.. :P
Seriously though! Why grey?

Because Then Coding Magic Won´t Work.

Coding magic always works. It's rather simple, actually. Normally a color tint in code is like an overlay of color on the sprite. The more white the sprite is, the more potent the color will be. Hence why I was saying you might want to make the main parts of the Zora more white than grey, and the shading be grey.

This would actually be a VERY good idea! I'm pretty sure I added a color overlay capability pretty recently. I also have to check over how it will play with the day-night clock though.
-
I finally did this simple thing that I didn´t do for so long for some strange reason... =D
ANYWAY! I put a white-ish gray base colour for he Zora´s so when the colour overlay comes in, it looks good!
And also the colour looks good for another type of zora variation also.
