Check attachments.

This is an area in my game: The Final Age.  It is a transition area of South Hyrule Field to Gerudo Desert.
As you can see the transition is "blocky".  I can't sprite or do tiles like this so can someone "blend" the area where the desert tiles and grass tiles meet to show that it actually looks like you are going/coming from the desert into a grass area.

I'm waiting on something right now, so I guess I can do it.

edit: Whoops.. sorry, I expected to be waiting around for longer than I was. All I had time to do was change the background on most of the tiles.. you can put them on the transitional area, but it'll still be square. Sorry I couldn't help more tonight!

What kind of transition are you looking for? A smooth gradient would look out of place. I know that's not completely GB style, but if you look at a GB tileset;

...you'll notice that most transitions are done quite clearly, with the wavy square tiles.

Just something you might want to consider.

Or you can do what they do in Zelda games when you go from one terrain to the other. Make it so that when you move into the next "screen", everything around you changes where suddenly a grassy area becomes rocky and like a mountain. Otherwise, I would do what mit suggested and also maybe add something in between the grass and sand such as a tree or a cactus or something like that so it flows together well.

Meh, stayed up past 1:00 in the morning to get this done :P

Anyways, remember that there is generally no "blending" effect from grass to sand, sand exists in clumps near beaches and just stops, thats why you get those wave like looking shapes where the grass undercuts the beach. You did a great job of making the grass spill into the sand, nice and natural looking if I do say so myself :D

I also touched up the corners of the mountains a wee bit, they were of a differernt palette to the other tiles.
