Other Discussion / My first time being Rick Rolled D:
« on: August 10, 2008, 04:46:58 am »
Just felt like sharing this curious experience in this community. :3
The funniest part is that it was a double rick roll, and it fricking scared my pants. D:

So, I was alone with my girlfriend on her house, so, we went get food and returned to the sitting room. And the television was on the first channel (news >_>). So, she laid on the sofa and called me, so, I went get on top of her. Accidentally, I hit the remote with my elbow, which randomly seemed to hit the "3" and "9" keys, so it would go to channel 39, which is VH1... Now... there was Rick Astley's videoclip. :P
Then, my girlfriend asked me if that was what it was called being rick-rolled... And I fell on the floor. >_>
So, the old woman on the floor down started screaming and ran the stairs and rang our bell... And started screaming about the rights of old people and the disrespect of the younger people, and that we have to have more respect to our neighbours.
That was when my girlfriend's dog came running to us, and accidentally (conveniently...cough...cough...) tripped on the remote and put the television on max volume. 8DD
That was when the old woman screamed "PUT THE DAMN TELEVISION WITH A FRICKING LOW VOLUME" and slammed the door.

Sorry, for making you read this, but I thought that it was just funny. xP

Other Discussion / Need help formatting disk
« on: March 03, 2008, 12:55:52 am »
The deal is, I got a 250GB, and my actual 120GB is damaged, so, I need urgently to change it. So, I'll  backup my info and format it. Then, install Windows on the other one and it's okay...
Now, my computer doesn't read the 250GB disk, and some guy told my dad we need SP2 installed so it works... Now... Either I'm missing something or this is completely WTF... How do I put the 2nd Service Pack on a clean disk? It's pretty much contradicting...
So, how do I do this?

Also, I'm planning on creating two partitions for the sake of installing Ubuntu, too... (Watch out with getting excited, Sol. XD)

Entertainment / Need help choosing games: Wii.
« on: November 04, 2007, 07:19:43 pm »
So, it's almost my birthday and when it happens, my parents usually give me 100 Euros.
Meh, I'm now determined into expanding my Wii collection (instead of my old idea of GameCube - just going to buy 3-4).
The thing is, which ones? And I can only buy two.
For now, I have these in mind:
 - Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition - it's a shame I haven't tried it yet.
 - Tomb Raider: Anniversary Edition - played the demo on the PC, I loved it. I loved to play Tomb Raider with my cousin when I was a kid. Also, it is released 4 days after my birthday.
 - Super Mario Galaxy - just for the sake of the name, I'm not really into Mario, I get bored of it rather quickly and I dislike the idea of Mario Galaxy.
 - Anything more, maybe, I'm listening to your comments.

Also, consider that I already have Zelda: Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (got it a while ago :3).

Entertainment / Okami on Wii and Street Fighter 4
« on: October 17, 2007, 09:28:57 pm »
I wonder why this hasn't been posted before.
I found in the site of the same magazine that announced Nights for Wii.

So, nothing's been elaborated. Just Okami + Wii.
Also, Lost Planet is being ported to the PS3.
And some game I don't know, named Bionic Commando for NES, is being remade into this generation of consoles.
Oh, and... Street Fighter 4... 8D (http://www.streetfighterworld.com/ - trailer there)

It may be unrelevant, but still: Source

Other Discussion / VfW drivers
« on: October 14, 2007, 04:51:57 pm »
I've been searching for them for long. But I've checked and searched enough to give up...
Does anyone knows where or how can I download some VfW drivers?
I lost my Webcam's CD, and that driver is all that is left to install.

Entertainment / Searching for GameCube titles
« on: October 07, 2007, 07:56:55 pm »
Yeah, what the title said. I'm searching for GameCube titles. Since I can buy them now for 5-10 Euros each game, instead of the original 60. :D
So, I'm looking for good names to add to my list.
Suggestions?

Entertainment / In doubt between 3 RPGs
« on: September 30, 2007, 09:36:58 pm »
I'm almost done with Final Fantasy VII I bought 2 months ago. I'm finishing it tomorrow.
The problem is, I noticed I'm out of RPGs in home to complete (Kingdom Hearts excluded), something that usually doesn't happen, however I'm out of money to buy Final Fantasy VIII or X-2 or XII.
So, I felt like finishing one RPG from the SNES, the thing is: I'm in doubt between Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI, the RPGs I feel like playing.
Hmm, so, can you tell me which of the three I pointed should I go with? Your thoughts and comments. :P

Other Discussion / Which browser to choose?
« on: September 23, 2007, 02:40:13 pm »
Meh, I've been using Opera for the last 5 months, and before that, I used Firefox.
I switched from Firefox since I was experiencing some problems, I don't really remember well, but I disliked pretty much FireFox 2, compared to older versions. Then, at some moment, every download I tried didn't work.
Now, with Opera, I feel that it spends lots of memory, and considering I have a already slow PC, it gets worse. In example, now, I just have two tabs opened and it's consuming ~95.000K.
So, I would like to hear your opinions, if I should stay with Opera, move to FireFox, buy more RAM memories (nope, no money), or recommend any other browser.

My idea is: after next year's competition (supposing everything's alright and it happens) it would be the 4th Character Competition.
Then, we would put the 4 champions together (Wanderer, Discuss, this year's winner, next year's winner) to make something like Champion of Champions.
It could be in the format of:
 - matches. 1 vs. 2, 3 vs. 4 -> 1/2 vs. 3/4
 - battle royal. one with least votes is eliminated. 1 vs. 2 vs. 3 vs. 4 -> 1 vs. 2 vs. 4 -> 1 vs. 4

So, um, please comment. :P

Entertainment / Good multiplayer games for 360 and Wii
« on: August 06, 2007, 07:36:43 pm »
Yeah, what the title says...
I'm looking for good multiplayer games for XBox 360 and for Wii that were already released in Europe, for fun with friends.
We've already got a list with: Mario Strikers, Wario Ware, Gears of War and Guitar Hero 2 (fap, fap).
Any more suggestions?

Well, in case you know what Portugal is... and as this kind of threads don't get with the same fame as "Do you know me?"
So, um...

Welcome. Any questions?

Other Discussion / Help with Hard Drive
« on: April 28, 2007, 07:34:22 pm »
The thing is, I want to format my PC and my dad lent to me his 250GB Hard-Drive he has bought yesterday to backup.
However, since then, he wasn't able to format it nor did the computer recognize it (on the both computers he tried).
His friend told us we needed Service Pack 1. Okay, so, when I arrived home started downloading Service Pack 1, but it can't install because I already have a newer version of it... I have Service Pack 2...
Geez... how do I solve this?
Thank you. :)

Feedback / Some feedback on ZFGC by Ricky
« on: April 24, 2007, 06:03:38 pm »
So, I was going to post most of the points I am going to post here were going to be posted on Chris' post about ZFGC's decline where he talked about incomplete fan-games (coming from someone who everytime he completed a 3D model started talking about making a new game...), spam and staff...
First of all, I ask you to think about deleting/locking this post after you have read it all.
Mainly (this is not an attack) if your username is Madilim Kagalakan, and you have only read 5 words and are about to delete this topic.
This is really something I think I need to say, and maybe something here will be helpful...
Second, even though Andrew said he would like to receive this kind of thing, but I would like this to be read by more members of my favorite forum.

. Fangames: I don't really feel like commenting this topic. I've barely contributed in this sector, and there are very few persons who have a position high enough to tell a thing about the fangames on ZFGC.
People do fangames when and how they want. They are doing that because they feel like doing it, not by any obligation.
Also, Zelda is different from Sonic and Mario, it's very different to complete a Sonic fan-game to complete a Zelda one.

. SPAM: Indeed, there is pretty much of it - and can be found pretty easily, and great part of it is intentional, and then, SPAMmers think they are the ones who are righteous, while not knowing the differences between an extremely serious person from a mature person.
I know of a cool joke about a SPAM board, but, as a non-spammer, I won't say everything that comes into my mind...
Oh and please, jokes involving pies, cakes, boobz roflololol are stupid, spammy, kiddy and extremely immature...
If you use the excuse that all you want is fun... Sorry, but I believe your concept of fun is appropriate for a kindergarten. My brother is 10, he's a little kid, he's still an immature person and watches Noddy, yet, if I tell him "pie, lol", he wouldn't go "roflololol".

. Staff: I really don't have as much complains about the staff. I like most of it, and they're a bunch of good guys and have been respectful towards me... However, I mustn't hide the fact that I have some complains about it...
 1. The team: it is too big, yet they do is pretty much the same as a team of 5 moderators would do...   I think there are pretty much persons there that shouldn't be there. I also have the slight idea (Slight, please note, also, I'm accusing no one) that the staff isn't well chosen, and in a biased way... Oh, I would also like to note that there is a member of the moderation team who has little more than 2 hours of forum activity... in a period of almost 13 months...
 2. This is something horrible that I couldn't just let be (like there's much I can do other than this... "rant"), besides the actual ammount of SPAM there are lots of times that some moderators cooperate on the SPAM topics I think an immediate lock/delete would be the best thing...

I would also like to do something I have been wanting to do for some quite a time, and I think this topic is okay for it (if it isn't deleted in the meanwhile - to consider too, that some of the spam just gets: locked...). Continuing, I could do this privately, but I think it is preferable to do it publicly, which is to congratulate 4Sword as a mod, don't really feel like describing it, but I think he acts as a great moderator, usually does the best thing (even though people would call the whole team as nazis afterwhile). This doesn't means I don't like the other mods...

So, um, thanks for reading, in case this thread doesn't gets automatically deleted, I would like to know what you think about what I stated above, some ZFGC team's comments would also be good.

Entertainment / SSBB Roster Update
« on: April 17, 2007, 08:39:46 pm »
Quote
The news abounds in connection with Nintendo's next bomb.

This time they are new names, in the absence of new faces, which are revealed to us through an interview granted by Masashiro Sakurai to the radio transmission of Tokyo's “The Gaming Show”.

He confirmed that the following characters will appear in the new Smash Bros.

Bowser Jr.
Ridley, the famous enemy of Samus.
Wind Waker Link.

And certain characters will disappear:

Ice Climbers
Mr. Game & Watch
Young Link.

Young Link will not really disappear since he will simply be replaced by the Cell-shaded version and his name will be always the same one.

The fans of Falco will be with the angels, since [Sakurai] has confirmed that the characters who weren't formerly “clones” will remain but will be worked over again to offer a true panel of blows to them.

In his opinion, the lack of interest for Mr. Game & Watch and Ice Climbers was obvious and he has to decide to replace them by Pit of Kid Icarus.

Pit should be the only one representing the “old school” and traditional ones.

[Sakurai] finally affirmed that the total number of characters should approach forty, leaving place for about fifteen new ones and one or two 3rd party characters.

WW Link, that's awesome... :D

Other Discussion / Doubt on Playstation Memory Cards
« on: April 05, 2007, 04:23:55 pm »
Basically: I have a Playstation 2, with a PS2 memory card, and I want to play a PSone game.
Where do I save it? Can I save it on the PS2 memory card, or will I have to (try to) buy a PSone memory card?
Thank you.

Entertainment / More on PS3's retrocompatibility
« on: April 02, 2007, 02:04:22 pm »
If they do care thaat f-ing much about graphics, why don't they fix them on what's the best part of their console?

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/13/ps2-graphics-on-ps3-look-like-crap
Quote
When played on a PS3, PS1 and PS2 games look dramatically worse as the above video indicates. The big black box resizes the graphic output of 480i PS1/PS2 games at a lower resolution sans filtering causing screen artifacts and jagged edges. Like, jagged edges that somebody took a knife to. It appears the issue has nothing to do with the TV, cables, or your PS3 resolution setting, something only a firmware upgrade can fix.

It includes a video as proof...

Entertainment / Nostalgia Help
« on: March 24, 2007, 12:12:45 pm »
Er, so, yesterday was the last class day. And thinking what to do during the evening, I decided to search for famous musics I love of the late 90s. Well, I found a few ones, but I kinda forgot lots of them...
So, if anyone around my age remembers some, I would thank you... ^^
And maybe there are people interested in doing the same... :P
Anyways, I'll list what I've found so far:
(note: those are just the ones I used to like when I was a kid)
Cher - Believe
The  Prodigy - No Good
Aqua - Barbie Girl
Smash Mouth - All Star
Britney Spears - Stronger
The Cartoons - The Witch Doctor
A-Teens - Mamma Mia
A-Teens - Super Trouper

Thank you. ^^
