ROFL now thats what I'd call a sticky situation

Nah, don't waste your time on fan games when you have the mind, the abilities and the connections to work on your much better, commercial ideas.

I'm not saying this idea isn't cool, cause I'd love to see it, and I know you'd make it sweet. It's just that you have the resources to do much cooler things.

:P actually I'd need to take on this project to raise up my resources for professional game dev lol... Since I'm not familiar with C#, I need a learner project to get myself to a point to where I can offer valid input to my programming staff lol

Entertainment / (SPOILER WARNING.) MY Halo 3 review lol
« on: October 02, 2007, 04:46:25 am »
I'll start off with my scores, and then I'll break it down a bit-

Gameplay: 6/10
Graphics: 5/10
Story: 4/10
Level Design/Level Progression: 1/10
Sound: 10/10
Multiplayer: N/A

Gameplay:

Gameplay was alright; pretty much the same as it always goes for shooters. There were quite a few intense moments in the game that did keep me at the edge of my seat; and they got my girlfriend wondering "Whoa and why dont I play video games???", and that to me is a good thing. However, for the most part, the game is boring, and doesnt hold my interest too well. I'm afraid that most of the time I was running through Halo 3, it was for the achievements and not for the game itself. My gamerscore is important to me. But on the plus side, I do like that there could be a TON of mobs on the screen at once (even if they are all practically the same enemies rehashed over and over again), and you can take em all on. Having *managable* impossible odds in a game is a good thing. Although it is VERY annoying when you get lost regarding your allegiance. One minute, the covenant is helping you. The next the flood is helping you. WHAT THE !@#$%. Its very annoying. As for the ending; I only beat it on Normal; so the ending didnt make much sense. (SPOILER.) One moment Chief and Cortana are on a ship with the Arbiter, the next chief is dead and arbiter is standing at his memorial. Big gap between the two events, and it never really shows chief die (legend ending, I know.). So w/e lol that was just annoying.

Pros: Intense action sequences, Made girlfriend intrigued
Cons: Boring at times, generic, confusing story elements that affect gameplay

Graphics:

The world graphics are beautiful in this game... for the first few acts... Then the game just becomes a normal ol Halo game with mediocre-for-its-time graphics. I do love the cutscenes; the lighting effects are brilliantly used throughout all of the cutscenes. However, the biggest issue is with the models. Theyre dirty. Models OTHER THAN Master Chief, Cortana, and the Arbiter SUCK ASS. lol

Pros: Beautiful map design for a little bit...
Cons: The game becomes more dated looking the farther you get... NPC meshes suck ass...

Story:

I greatly dislike the storyline. There are so many failed story elements that dont launch or finish properly. Theres subreferences to religious elements in the game; The Ark (of the covenant), The Covenant, The Flood, John (I could go on about references one of my old ZFGC friends found with 3:16, etc) just didnt really go anywhere. It was rather stupid, lol. On one hand its just your standard story; earth is at war, enemies have weapons of mass destruction, bush sends troops to fight, troops end up on a giant ring that they eventually destroy then the terrorist covenant arbiter joins us and doesnt really serve much of a purpose other than to look pretty after halo 2. <_< running sentence on purpose BTW. I dont know, Halo 2's ending left me hanging. When chief was all like "those bastages are taking the fight to Urf, rawr, I will kill them blah blah" I thought, "Hey sweet, city fights in Halo 3." ... but I didnt see any of that either. Halo 3 just left a horribly disappointing and rather unfulfilled conclusion to the series. I dunno, judging story can be a bit tough, because others could think its the most fantastic thing in the world; but to each their own, I guess :p

Pros: Eh it was okay.
Cons: Too many failed story elements. Conclusion was sucky at best.

Level Design / Level Progression:

I thought it was !@#$%. They should have just named the game "Backtrack 3", because thats what you do throughout most of the game. I'm sorry, but when the next part of a level involves going back through the same exact level you were just through while it explodes in almost every act, theres a problem. I want a cutscene that has chief do that for me. The level design is pretty standard to begin with, and once you start seeing the flood you see that the level design starts sucking... shame that the flood marks when you'll be backtracking for most of the game >_<. Another issue; the FIRST TIME they use deep water in Halo (and the ONLY time they use it), they !@#$% it up. First level; you're at this big waterfall area. You hop in the water... and guess what? ITS HARDER THAN !@#$% TO GET OUT. Literally it took about 10 minutes just to hop on the ledge you need to be on to get out, and you have to mash down your jump button or you wont be able to get out. Thats horrible game design, and the water physics are lame. lol

Pros: ...
Cons: Backtracking through craptastically designed levels sucks.

Sound:

Not a single complaint here. Brilliant.

Pros: Everything
Cons: ... :D

Multiplayer:

I havent played it online yet outside of the beta :P The beta was fun though, lol...

So yeah, thats my review I guess. I dunno, the game was just okay.

I mean "Magus-sama" could just as easily just be "Lord magus"...
Actually I think they changed Magus's name to its original form, Maou :P

Do you mean sprites of Link specifically? or of the items?

Yeah I agree, and thats where I can give MTM credit; they did step outside of the box quite a bit and decided to let their label know that its the band that makes the label what it is, and not vice versa

5708
:p not a big project;

Quote from:  Meeee
would probably only have a few things to do in it though; it would be more of an XNA programming test for me personally

It would probably only go up until the chozo mini-boss, and I'd release the open source engine for people to do with what they want :p

:o I did not know that was a bootleg album lol... I thought it was a british release o.o... good thing I didnt buy it XD
I dunno, its really easy to tell in MTM where Mike Shinoda took control from Warner Brothers over production. The previous LP albums were under strict direction by Warner, limiting their creative edge. I think MTM was a good album to let them express their creative desires previously unexpressed from the previous albums, but for me it just didnt work :\... Although, I would definitely see LP live, even if I didnt like the album :p... (then again, its the same for Metallica, lol I hated St.Anger, but I would still see them live even if they only played St.Anger songs lol im a sap *shrugs*)

I hated it, lol... I actually prefer Chesters pre-LP work (Grey Daze) over LPs music too though; if you guys havent heard Grey Daze, pick up LP's Splitting the DNA album, and check out disc 2; it has all of Grey Daze's stuff... But I love Hybrid Theory... Meteora is still kinda bland to me... but I hated Minutes to Midnight... it was like listening to the St.Anger album after listening to classic Metallica lol

lol when GH3 comes out I am basically going to spend 99% of my time mastering Through The Fire and Flames by Dragonforce... lol I dont think that song looks as hard as jordan (different styles of soloing... although... through the fire and flames is like 7+ minutes long, depending on which version they use.... that could get tiring)... I know I beat Encore: Rocks the 80s in like less than a couple hours or so; went through each song no problem beating them on my first try o.0, so I'm really hoping GH3 provides a bit more of a challenge... I dont really wanna clock the game so quickly after buying it lol

But yeah; when it comes out, lemme know if you wanna have a coop or battle match on it :P my game days are pretty much tuesdays and wednesdays (since those are the only days I have net)... I might be on Halo 3 this wednesday doing matches, so if anyone wants to join in on that (or do a co op run), lemme know :P

Current Sales;
--
360: 11,675,651
Wii: 11,301,389
---

Sales margin is so minuscule right now that its rather pointless to worry about which is leading the market, its head to head

on topic;

XD I cant use XBL, lol so I cant really be catagorized in that :P... And I usually play nothing but classics lol, so either way o.0 that doesnt quite work. In the previous gen console set I was with Sony, then Nintendo (sony because I played my PS2 more than my GCN, and both still got more than their moneys worth of play). Microsoft coulda sucked my left nut for all I cared lol... Actually I think if I were placed in a category, it would probably be non-fanboy gaming o.0 Dont get me wrong, I love Nintendo, the franchises it's spat out are classic and will be forever; but my love for Nintendo is for what it was, and not what it is today. For me, today nintendo seems generic... The classic franchises (with the exception of Zelda) dont seem to be going anywhere that I want to follow them to, lol... I also cat be part of the Xbox categorization, because Im not much of a fan of their key games, like Halo lol... Hell, I emulate classics more than I play current games; but if I have to go with a current game, I want something with some kickass graphics and new aspects to old genres; not slightly-better-than-previous-gen graphics with pretty much 1 new way to play; its just personal preference, not really anything I'm debating or even demeaning over. The Wii just does not appeal to me, plain and simple lol

5715
lol I think it would be XD I just have this whole scene stuck in my head of samus running in a whimsical and comedic anime style moving her arms and legs out as far as they can go :P Much like she is in this comic on the far right XD

And now look, they're on top of the market
ehhhh Xbox 360 is at the top of the market in sales, lol But yeah, it was smart of them to make something that appeals to non-gamers; but, for people who thrive on better graphics and gameplay innovation combined, and not one or the other, it makes the system useless :P... Some people enjoy games consisting of tons and tons of minigames, but I really dont lol... The gamecube was good, but the reason it was a flop on the market is because it only had a few adult-oriented games. The Wii is the same way in terms of content; the games are family oriented with the exception of a few. I personally prefer in-depth, somewhat dark, mature games; so for me 360 and PS3 (though not to the extent that the 360 is) are my preferences. Although I am going to get a Wii when Brawl comes out :p not because I think the Wii is worth buying, but because I think Brawl is worth shelling out $300 for :P

I'm thinking about working on a little Metroid 3 clone that is similar to Megaman Powered Up! for PSP; whereas its a chibi style 3d sidescrolling version of the older version of the game. Samus would resemble the chibi samus in my avatar; and it would play out kinda like the old 10 page 1993 promotional manga that came out in japan. I would probably only have a few things to do in it though; it would be more of an XNA programming test for me personally, but I need a project to learn some new C# stuff, and this could do for one.

I've got another project in the works right now, but its not anything I can release or discuss (professional release project, as apposed to a fan project), but I should be able to find time to work on this while my projects in development and I have my personal down time lol

I'm not talking about the Wii in general, I'm talking about this being the only god damn game of this generation that has impressed me.

Normally, I'll let people hide behind their opinions and preferences regardless of how close minded and ill informed they are, but not for this game.
I'll let those that aren't psyched for this game slide, but those that seriously try to use this game as another "con" for the Wii are !@#$% retards, period.

o.0 whoa whoa whoa calm down there a bit; my post wasnt in direct reference to the game, actually it was more towards

"The wii is just shovelware and kiddy games.."

I could care less about the game until I try it, lol

mamo, please tell me you're playing along, because if not I declare an epic failure on your half

Nope, lol I genuinely cannot stand the Wii. Whenever I need a Nintendo exclusive game fix, I go to my friends house and play whichever game I need the fix from, but other than that, its just not worth buying lol Graphically it sucks ass, the games are lame (with the exception of VERY few; Elebits, TP, and possibly brawl when it comes out?), and I really think Nintendo shouldn't substitute innovation for quality. They tried it with almost all of their post rare donkey kong games, and it didnt work; lol then they tried it for a full console and IMO it still doesnt work lol I really dont think a wiimote is good enough to make up for all of the downfalls of the system in comparison to whats out on the market today :P

Just my opinion on the system; lol I just plain ol' hate party games, and its a system that is based around em'
