Oh. Well !@#$%. The technology will eventually trickle down to normal-people price. And then everyone can have fun domains!

Probably, but it won't be nearly as awesome once everyone is already doing it.

I'm locking this topic as it really serves no purpose.

To avoid confusion I'm going to lock this topic.  It seems you had confused SC4 with SCL, but now that you've realized that I don't really see any purpose to leave this open.  There's a decent chance that it will develop into a flame-war or something.

Locked.

I'm not going to say that I didn't expect this, (you've both tried to do this before but weren't able to for various reasons), but I didn't expect it this soon.  Well, I respect your decision, but hope that you two will stick around.

I CHALLENGE THIS POLL.

I've had guns held to my head on three seperate occasions by people I didn't even know.  I've seen several stabbings at a close range.  I put cigarettes out on my hands and don't get burned.  I once cut the tip of my finger off accidentally and waited four hours to tell my parents and get taken to the emergency room, (it was at 2:00am and I didn't want to wake them up).  I once cracked several bones in my hand during keyboarding class and didn't even say anything about it until after class, (imagine trying to type as fast as you can for an entire class with a broken hand).  I've walked home from a lake outside the town I live, (roughly 18 miles), in complete darkness by myself several times, (once while it was raining).  During the time I was still in school I consistently outscored all of my classmates on standardized tests despite having a nearly non-existent GPA, (I hardly ever went to class, and when I did I never did the homework).

Shall I go on?  Are you two willing to accept defeat?

Other Discussion / Re: The term "girl gamer" is horribly stupid.
« on: July 21, 2008, 05:27:41 am »
I dunno, I think "girl gamer" only is in use as a specific demographic, the same as "casual gamer", "core gamer", etc.  It's still kinda stupid, but it does make sense. Plus, think of the term "man-!@#$%".  Why is the distinction of gender made with that?  Because the word "!@#$%" is typically only used when describing a woman, the same as how "gamer" is typically associated with men.

It's still dumb though...

It's horribly stupid because girls dun play games. Any girl that says she does is lying, or a man. Discuss.

I played mario kart with a woman before having sex with her.

XD nothing to discuss...

Anyway, girl-gamer is just something you have to get used to. It's like "Hardcore" and "Casual". !@#$% retarded terms.

so the term "girl gamer" just means a girl getting ready to mate with a gamer... i played guitar hero with a girl before i had sex with her

lol we should form a club...

"I had some hardcore casual sex with a girl gamer after playing a video game."

I think I'm starting to understand the terminology now :P

Amen to that.

Those of us that have access to the staff board had to read that topic before posting.  What's there to discuss?  :P

On a more serious note, patience is a virtue.

I think it is only fair that we allow this discussion to continue.  No rules have been broken and all of us have the right to give our opinions, especially in regards to something that effects us all in some way.  With that in mind I'm going to respectfully unlock this.  Please keep your posts civil and on-topic.  Thank you.

"Sonic and the black knight"

Black Knight: Tis but a scratch.
King Arthur: A scratch?! Your arm's off!
    Black Knight: No it isn't.
King Arthur: Well what's that then? [Pointing to the knight's arm lying on the ground.]
    Black Knight: I've had worse.
    King Arthur: You liar!
Black Knight: Come on then, you pansy! [Charges Arthur, who chops the knight's remaining arm off.]
King Arthur: Victory is mine! [kneels and starts to pray] We thank thee Lord, that in thy-- [is kicked in the head by the armless knight.]
    Black Knight: Come on then!
    King Arthur: What?
Black Knight: Have at you! [Kicks Arthur]
King Arthur: You are indeed brave, good Sir Knight, but the fight is mine.
Black Knight: Oohh, had enough, eh?
King Arthur: Look, you stupid !@#$%, you've got no arms left!
    Black Knight: Yes I have.
    King Arthur: Look!
Black Knight: Just a flesh wound.

Funny, as well as the first thing that came to mind for me, (followed by that god awful Martin Lawrence film), but still kinda spam.   :(

Entertainment / Pikmin Wii
« on: July 17, 2008, 02:45:53 am »
So I was just reading a live-blog of Nintendo's 2008 E3 Developer Roundtable at Joystiq and this happened:

Quote from: Joystiq
7:38 In response to a question about whether or not a new Pikmin is in the works, Miyamoto says he'll announced the new game when he's ready. Apparently he's ready now. "We're making Pikmin," the translator says. OMG MEGATONZ!
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/liveblog-from-nintendos-2008-e3-developer-roundtable/

...And that was basically the end of it.  There you have it, not all is lost.

Discuss.

I played Animal Crossing on the Gamecube and DS for months. But this new Animal Crossing game for the Wii just looks a bit to similar to previous games. Both graphically and gameplay, which is a shame because there's much improvements that can be done. For one the graphics could use allot improvement.

Holy !@#$%, Hyrule_boy just evolved into Hyrule_MAN:D

People have been saying the graphics look exactly the same as the GCN game.
Well, I can already tell the textures are a lot higher res and there are a lot less sprites being used (if any)

the GCN game was basically the N64 game ported, every tree was just a few sprites put together, now they're all in 3D etc.
There isn't a whole lot they can do to change the look of the traditional town without changing the games style, so that's why we're getting that city part too.

Back on gamecube and DS, the graphics needed to be better, and if you ask me, the graphics for City Folk don't need to be better.

Fair enough, but really if AC on GC was just an improved port from the N64 version, (graphically), it could be said that AC on Wii is just an improved port from the GC version.  That doesn't really matter to me, I'm more bothered by the lack of other improvements.

A lot more could have been done with than what was, (or at least what we've seen of it). Granted, voice chat and online capabilities are a definite step in the right direction, but that's basically it as far as I can tell.  From what I've read of various hands-on previews of the game the "City" aspect of the game isn't even really worth mentioning, much less calling a city.  Nonetheless, AC is awesome and the absolute high-point, (in terms of software), from Nintendo this E3.

I'm sure there will be some 2nd party games shown/announced on the show-floor, but nothing major like Zelda.  Anything and everything major would've been announced during the press conference.

Locked for obvious reasons.  Please be a bit more creative next time Swiftu.

« on: July 15, 2008, 09:14:23 pm »
EDIT:  BtW, somehow forgot about the Ratchet and Clank Future expansion, and I'm also disappointed we didn't see the new Ico team game :(

Amen to that.

Anyway, this has been an extremely lackluster E3 so far.  Hopefully there'll be some better stuff on the actual show-floor. Sony's press conference was pretty good, though I think Microsoft's was a bit better.  I've already erased Nintendo's from my memory.  So... !@#$%... bad...

Honestly I have to agree with Mamoru on this.  Original thought almost completely died out a long time ago.  Yes, obviously Microsoft is putting these in to place because of Mii's and Home.  It makes good business sense, who cares if it's not original. It's either keep up or die out. Does is really matter who came up with what as long as we, the gamers, (no matter what console preference, if any), benefit?  No, it doesn't.

Yes, it's an obvious rip-off, and yes, there is no way in hell that either Sony or Microsoft will credit Nintendo with the idea to incorporate avatars into the current generation  -- who cares?

(Also, I want to stress that I'm not trying to be an ass.  I understand where you're coming from, I just get very tired of seeing these sort of arguments being used as munition within the "console wars".)
