So for a while, I hit a block with my music and couldn't write anything... since school's been out though, I've had more time to work on it, and today I spent about 6 hours working on this track. I think it turned out pretty decent... what do you think?

EDIT: I recorded quite a few parts of live instruments for this piece this time. Gongs, bells, windchimes, hichiriki (the whiny things at around 25 seconds lol, they're not technically real hichiriki but I used saxophone and other instrument combinations to mimic them).

How long have you been doing photography/music/art/whatever else you do? I mean, you're 16, and you could easily be a composer for games or a musician, and I checked your deviantart, and a lot of those photos could easily be sold on postcards- tourism board get?

Haha thanks. I've only been seriously taking photos for about a year now... but I've been writing music longer, probably 2-3 years, of course back then they were very simple MIDI files :p I've only gotten half-decent lately, probably these last few months or so.
I haven't really considered doing music for an (established) game company, mostly because I'm too young lol. I still have to work on the quality of the music anyways... as for photos... same thing mostly, I've never really looked into selling the photos for postcards lol. Hmm, now there's an idea. :p

Yeah, that Chicago lights one gave me that idea. Have you got a higher res version? It'd make a pretty cool wallpaper!

I took some time and fixed some compression issues... it's probably not that noticeable, but hopefully things sound clearer now.
Re-uploaded the file, so you might have to refresh your cookies for the new version, not sure...

Also, I *do* have a larger version of that pic, but I'm not sure where I would host something that big :p

An upload form...? *does not know what that is* :p
Anyways, if you want an even cleaner version, check the link in 10-15 minutes from now because I'm going to upload yet another version. Right now there's a weird resonance in the low frequencies around 0:48 >__<
I fixed that though... so check the link later for a newer version :p

I'm having trouble uploading a file there :p If I try, I get an error message saying:
"There was an error uploading the file, please try again!"

In any case... I'm uploading ANOTHER new version, no.4 or something. I keep finding all these things that need changing when I go and change one thing... so expect another 10-15 minute wait before it's at the final (hopefully) stage. :p

In the meantime, I'll comment on the one you have now.

I like it. I really don't have the ear of a conductor so I really can't find anything wrong with it. I think it would sound better with a little more bass, though. It sounds a little too high-pitch for my tastes.

Ahh, bass is tricky lol. When working with digital audio like this, you've really only got a small margin for the bass, otherwise it gets out of hand and starts to clip. Bass generally just takes up more headroom in music, so getting enough bass, balanced with the right amount of higher pitches is pretty tricky :p Actually, the original had a lot more bass, but I removed it for clarity..

Sadly, I never heard the original. D:

Unless you have it on hand. I'd like to listen to it.

I'm afraid I deleted that copy D:
It was for the better though, the bass was completely drowning everything else out...

Crap. D:

Well, regardless, I'm looking forward to the next release. And try not to delete the current one. I want to compare them.

EDIT: Too late. D:

I decided to update this thing and it's now 2:22 long, compared to the original 1:30-ish time. Take a listen if you want to hear...

This isn't my favorite song from you. I find it slightly boring and repetitive, and the ambient type music at the end of the piece is almost typical of you at this point. I did like the choice of instrumentation very much, though.

Despite the above, there is a noticeable improvement in the quality of your production. By that, I mean rather than a 4/4 snare to carry the beat, I notice really nice, complex drum beats. Your use of reverb has also gotten a lot better - it sounds a little bit more conservatively used in this piece, which is good - otherwise the instruments would sound washed out. Also, your fading in and out of instruments - in this, I can't tell what it is, maybe a dizi - is really, really good. Essentially, what I'm saying, is that while this isn't my favorite piece, you are getting much more skilled with FL Studio, and it is noticeable. I can't wait for the next piece.
