I completely hate the holiday. What is really in existence for? There is not meaning except to make those of us unlucky enough not to have someone special feel like crap. The only thing I can think of is....

...a stupid excuse to make people spend thousands of dollars to prove they love each other even though they could do that cheaper any of the other 364 (365 if leap year) days a year.

Well anyhow does any one else think that Valentines day stinks?

I think it's terrible. :( Every year I see my friends and other couples kissing and giving each other gifts. IT MAKES ME !@#$% SICK TO MY !@#$% STOMACH. Every year I act emo on that day. Yep thats right BITCHES!  >:D

Well ya, it is one of the completely commercial holidays. I'm pretty sure it was invented by a greeting card company becuase they wanted more sales.

I don't really care either way for the event. I've never really celebrated it, although I've only been with a chick once on a valentines day, no idea if my girly is expecting something nice... doubt it, seeing as it's our 1st Anniversary on the 22nd (and depending on what she wants to do in the next year, and if I can pluck up the courage to ask her dad, I might buy her an engagement ring >_>).

Hmm, I've had girlfriends, but never around Valentine's day. I imagine it'd be fun to have a special reason to go out...but oh well, it'll happen one day.

At least this year I'm probably going to the theater with a girl I like (even if I have no chance) to see the new Romero movie. Life is good.

Valentines day is a shitty excuse for a holiday. Which is why I dont celebrate it. Sure we'll probably go to the movies or something. But non of this 'HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!' !@#$% :).

Well... I don't like Valentine's Day that much either.
It's just an excuse for spending a lot of money... and depressing for those who are not in a relationship.
Simply ridiculous that there's a day when roses and chocolate cost twice as much as every other day...
And it's all about, the more expensive a gift, the more you love your boyfriend/girlfriend, although sweet little presents might be more thoughtful.
Love can be proved or shown at any other day of the year, just as you said.

On the other hand, I guess deep in my heart I'm a helpless romantic, who likes the thought of getting a little present from her significant other on Valentine's Day... lol.

Yeah, I know what it feels like, that day makes pretty much single persons feel like crap, and that's stupid...
But oh well, it's life, I won't use it too much, since it's thursday, and I have exam, so, me and her will be busy that day... >_>

Here in Finland Valentine's day is translated as "friends' day", which pretty much celebrates friends more than romance. And I'm ok with that.
Nice day to show you care about others' :P
It's pretty hard to notice when it's valentine's day here though; some people give their friends cards and some people hug their friends etc, but that's about it.
Not that big of an event here.

It sucks if you are single, as I was for many, many years on V-Day.

That's different this year though :D And about the money, that's not always necessary...me and my girlfriend are probably going to go out someplace decent, then watch Love Actually. Not that expensive, not that grand, sure to be a fun time.

I personally think it's a nice holiday that gives you an opportunity to express those feelings of romance to your significant other. Sure, you can do that at any time, but a holiday gives it some more structure. It also helps out the economy.
