I am 3D modelling a lesser demon, this is what I have so far.

After completeing the first arm, I thought I'd experiment with the extra detail (which will be done full once the not so detail parts are finished) and came up with this,

This is what he looks like so far without the extra detail (and has the extra arm)

A Lesser Demon? Looks from here like you are going for a Greater Demon (Though i suppose A Keeper Of Secrets would have breasts).

That 'extra detail' does make a big difference.
The model looks a bit too much still, like the basic primitives; Maybe make the body more rounded to eliminate the boxyness left in, make the ribs rise towards the centre, and give it some clavicals.
Also, be careful to watch the way the deltoid joins onto the torso; You have plenty of space to work on it and make it pull onto the shoulder in a triangle shape. (Be sure to study some references of flesh and muscle).
The arm is quite massive in relation to the body (and it will of course, get difficult to work with when the multiple arms are added on); The torso could be bigger.
Of course, you could have planned to deal with half these things or even all of them, but i'm not skimping on advice.
What is it you are making exactly (any particular thing i can look at) ?

Thanks for all the comments.

Aab- Thanks for the advice, the boxyness is a habit I have when starting a model, once all the surround parts are done I usually fix it there, I haven't kept so good to the referance with the torso, but I can still fix that with out adding extra polygons. I like that kind of advice, I don't get that kind very often, thanks.

As for the greater demon vs lesser demon, this is based on one of Blizzard's lesser demons, presumably from one of their D&D games.

Here is the referance I am using (As a base, I probaly will go off into my own orginality with it)

Also, I just realised I did the rather careless thing of putting it into Zelda graphic artists rather than Misc, if mods are able to move it into the right board, I would be greatful. The only way for the demon to be in a Zelda game if I cut down on the polygon count (which is do able) and put it into mine ;)

Wow!  This is looking great!  So I'm guessing that this is probably only going to be for your use?  I'd give you critisisms, but I think aab knows what he's talking about best. ;p

I haven't paid too much attention to aab's criticism's in this update, but I like a complete mesh before doing any real tweaking.

Thanks for the comment possom.

I'm nearly there, I'm gonna play with the detail a bit more with the displacement maps (I'm relatively new at using displacement maps in 3D modelling, so its good to play with them at these what if you like 'breaks') and then continue onto the heads and hand.

Now with extra detail and ambient occulsion rendering...I think I'm gonna call it a night. I may carry this on tomorrow, if not, it'll be after my holiday.

lol thanks. Good thing is, his render pose is a good pose for rigging, although it looks a pain to animate, but its good enough to practice for reliable animation skills, like getting the muscles to expand and contract.

I really like this piece.  Its looking pretty good.  I suggest that you make his chest wider, and maybe the arms a tad smaller, they look too big, if you kept the muscle tone and just made his arms a little more compact that would look better IMO.  I can't wait to see more progrees on this.

Thanks, I will make the chest bigger, I will make his left front arm smaller, I got carried away with that part a bit.

Thanks I'll work on that, here is an update, apologies, hands are my biggest weakness in 3D modelling, but he is nearly there ;)
