Oh Nintendo, you so silly.
-
Only a quick look before I go to college, but at first glance, this looks awesome... (apart from the eye strain of course).
-
Meh, I've become desensitized to rumors about Nintendo products mostly because many of them are false; if this were true it'd be the spiritual successor to the VirtualBoy though.
-
Well, the information comes from a PDF on Nintendo of Japan's website, so..
sounds interesting, I'd like to see the 3d for myself before I believe it. :P And will it be like, popping out of the screen, or like looking into the screen. And will it be both screens? Besides the 3d, what will the graphics capabilities be like, on par with the PSP, or better? Will it have the old rumored tilt-sensitivity?
SO MANY QUESTIONS

APRIL FOOOOOOLS

APRIL FOOOOOOLS
If it doesn't turn out to be april fools this idea is kinda crap

If it's optional then it'd be fine. But I'm guessing it's going to be mandatory, judging by Nintendo's track record with forcing tacked on gimmicky pieces of !@#$% (Nintendo Wii).
-
Hmm, could be nice with a lot of potential. But I won't get my hopes up. Have to try it first before making a judgement.

All I can say too, although the idea is interesting at least so far...
backwards compatible with DS/DSi Games, alright, alright

This is why I think it may be crap

Actually I think it is quite possible that this could be legit. Take a look at this youtube vid. If this guy can make this work, then nintendo could come up for a use with it.

Only one person will be using a handheld device at a time so it makes sence to make it into a handheld consol.
-
3d with no glasses has been done, only it works at specific angles, which is fine for a portable device since you'll mostly be facing the front.
Supposedly it's going to be using this technology.

Windy in the sidebar => http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/nintendo-3ds-to-come-with-3d-control-stick-vibration-and-sha/
But I've seen this technology in action at Sharp HQ in Japan, when I visited their ac ouple of years ago. They displayed it with 2 views on a car navigator. The driver would see the roadmap and navigator information and the passenger watched a movie.
Aero88: what you are saying is already possible for the DSi as it requires a camera.
-
I'll stick with my normal DS, thank you very much.
-
This actually sounds pretty sick. My dream game on this is starfox with the hud and ships popping out in 3d. About whether it's manditory: I don't think so. If it's backwards compatible that means you can still make 2d games for it. And I want VIRTUAL CONSOLE.

Heard about this this morning. Really awesome to wake up to, this year's E3 is going to be amazing!

This is going to suck if it does have it.
It's going to suck trying to play a handheld that's rumbling when i;m trying to move, Yeah Nintendo, great job there buds.
The 3D thing may be cool, if they don't !@#$% it up. If it's like those shitty DSi games then it's going to suck. If it's like that LCD tv thing or whatever posted on the first page, then well, uh. I don't really know how it will be until we see it at E3. Honestly, this better not be another gimmick crap that end's up trying to make use of it with every game, making them annoying to play, kind of like all that shovelware on the Wii. I'm going to be annoyed if i have to tilt the damn handheld or some crap to control link.

Jumping to conclusions on how it'll all work from one general statement (not even from the creator) and putting it down from that conclusion? lol
I've seen the first mobile phone to use a "3D" screen (from hitachi) and well it's interesting... but not something I'd want to use for every day use or anything. Wasn't too easy on the eyes either.
But that was the first one and I doubt nintendo would just stick in some random gimmick that seems cool without making sure it works solidly or anything. Especially after virtual boy.
I'm pretty sure the touch screen/dual screens mentioned at the start of the DS's life was also seen as some gimmicky crap and that all games used just as some gimmick to help sell themselves over fun. But it seems to of gone well in the end.
I obviously have no idea how it will end up, but also because of that and nintendo's excellent record, I'll wait before fully experiencing before doubting it.

Wii's motion gimmick :P Wii Motion Plus corrects the problems of it not working solidly :P

You obviously missed the start, where i said If it does have it
There seems to be only two options where they could put rumble, into the pack, or into the handheld itself, both things will make it shake when you're doing crap, i really don't see how that would be a good thing.
-
Only time will tell I guess :P
Also what's wrong with the wii's controls? Worked fine for all game's I've played.
But yeah, everyone thought those were just some crap gimmick at first too. Now its gone so far their competition's copying it.
As far as I know, the motion plus just makes the motion sensing even better. Sure, there's "well why wasn't it that good in the first place? D:" though.
Up until now, the "gimmicks" with the DS and Wii have just been down to how the games have used them. Have they used them to make the gameplay more fun? Or have they just stuck them in for the hell of it?

The Wii controls usually aren't horrible, it's just some games seem to tack them on for no reason, other to be there, Twilight Princess, which i still refuse to even admit has a Wii version.
The DS, Phantom Hourglass, ironically seems more tacked on then spirits tracks controls, i liked spirit tracks ones, they somehow worked better even if it's the same thing. Some games have touch screen only controls where walking would of been fine, Phantom Hourglass, Starfox, Sonic Chronicles of the dark brotherhood of whatever. Mario And Luigi 3 with the attacking has pretty much destroyed my touch screen THANK YOU !@#$% GIANT BOWSER BATTLES.
I put tacked on as games really don't need them, Only real "wii" game i can think of that does this is Twilight Princess, !@#$% Nintendo, delay my !@#$% a year for tacked on controls will you.
Also, some of the levels for NSMB Wii that i played by myself, the boat one where you control the light with the wiimote was annoying.
