EA has confirmed today that the hit J-horror game 'Dead Space' will be coming to the Wii! The game will be a port of the 360/PS3 title, and EA promises to keep it "high quality". The game is apparently due out earlier this year.
Well Dead space sure is an interesting horror game, now lets hope that EA makes it a "high quality" port! :)

EA have actually been making some good new intellectual property, y'know. Dead Space and Mirror's Edge... didn't sell very well compared to their "shovelware and crappy ports", so maybe that's why they made more money beforehand.

EA have actually been making some good new intellectual property, y'know. Dead Space and Mirror's Edge... didn't sell very well compared to their "shovelware and crappy ports", so maybe that's why they made more money beforehand.
lol well I'm not even going to go into the issues I have with Mirrors Edge being called a good new intellectual property, but yeah. EA isn't hurting for money. EA Mobile (the only respectable division of EA) actually grosses in a ton, and has the highest yearly earnings over all other mobile developers by quite a bit. They're pretty well set. Low dev costs, and high sales.

EA have been known to put out some pretty awesome games on occasion. I mean, I understand the hate, but being an EA game doesn't automatically make a game bad.

One of the developers of the original Dead Space commented about it on NeoGAF, he himself not being a very big fan of the Wii in general said it looked very good and did the original game justice.

I don't know anything about Dead Space, so I can't really comment on that. Judging from the quality of previous Wii ports I'm not sure about this one, I'll probably give it a shot when it comes out though.

Wii ports don't have to be awful! Take a look at Call of duty 3 & World at War for the Wii for example. They are both pretty entertaining, it just really depends on how much effort a developer puts in a port. And that's where so much Wii ports go wrong, the developers hardly spent any effort in it. They just want to make a few bucks with hardly any work.

Wii ports don't have to be awful! Take a look at Call of duty 3 & World at War for the Wii for example. Well can you blame them? They can make a multi-platform game for the 360 and PS3-- but if they want to release it for the wii, they have to dumb down everything from the controls to the graphics-- it is a LOT of work, compared to how much work is needed to convert from 360 to PS3 or vice versa. If only the Wii had hardware capability even NEAR the other current generation consoles, this would not be a problem.
So it is NOT the developers fault, but Nintendo's fault, for creating such a weak and "innovative" piece of technology.

Creating a console for "Affordability" means you're going to have shithouse games, and even worse ports. The problem with the Wii is that it's not going to have that good of a lifespan. It has a nice initial "wow" but later on it just dwindles down to a crawl. I mean !@#$% look at how many people played the hell outta it when it came out who do not play it at all now.

Casual Gamers is a huge market. I mean do you really expect mr. 'Hardcore' Gamer to be playing WiiFit or Mario Party endlessly trying to get the highest possible score?
Wiis good for the odd casual game, and to rip the !@#$% out of your mates at a party. But yet, sucks major when it comes to hardcore games, best option 360/PS3...

I refute that claim with the fact that the Wii's software sales are vastly higher than the other consoles, even for 3rd-party software, and even taking the high hardware sales into accordance (tie-ratio).

It's an entirely different league due to its technical limitations and it's low price. It's poor marketing to compare the Wii sales to the Xbox 360 and PS3 sales. You don't compare the Leapfrog Leapster to the GBA, do you? And before you say "BUT ONES *insert rant*", realize that the Leapsters limitations and price compared to the GBA is about the same as the Wii's limitations and price compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Regardless of the Leapsters sales, you just do not compare it with the GBA due to it's limitations.

Who is buying the games? Christmas sales don't count Dascu, lol. You know how many games I've gotten that I've not played for more than 10 minutes? !@#$%. Oblivion, GTA4, Armored Core Nine Breaker, etc etc etc. Just because I bought games doesn't mean that I enjoy them as much as I thought I would. Keep in mind too, I didn't buy Oblivion. Someone bought me that as a gift, same as Armored Core Nine Breaker. I am not necessarily making the purchase. This isn't even a debate about sales of games, or anything like that. People who bring up those sorts of irrelevant bits of information are usually asshurt over there being some truth to it.

Overlord wasn't a good game to begin with. They're trying to compensate for shitty gameplay with visuals, and as all of you have said, "Graphics do not make the game". It's amazing how it does a 180 when it involves discrediting the wii for having games with !@#$% poor gameplay too <_<;; Even at that, the graphics on that game aren't that good. Bloom lighting and high contrast colors doesn't mean it's pretty. It looks over-saturated, and too shiny.

Nah mate, Overlord actually is a pretty bad game, no matter the console. It seems awesome for the first hour or two, then you realise that the gameplay says just as dull, and gets harder to control. Not a very good game. (Played it on the 360)

People are using their own experiences as a counter to the Overlord metacritic score. If personal opinion is suddenly more valid in an argument than a democratic reviewer aggregate, I might as well pass off my own opinion as fact.
Therefore, Soul Reaver and Symphony of the Night are non-games.

I'd reply and say that one, I'm not stating my own opinion, I'm stating the common opinion of people who get paid to do this and two, I'm using it as a counter to his argument that Overlord is a bad game. A lot of people do not share this opinion, which he is stating as fact, and therefore he shouldn't whine about it.

Derailing a topic intentionally is not the same as natural topic progression. While some of the posts with the shark or narwhal stuff in them have other content, they are made in a purposely annoying way which could and frankly has led the topic away from original discussion.
Stop posting the sea creatures images in such a manner. It's borderline trolling to what could be a healthy "debate" over the game that was originally discussed or it is becoming spam in that replies are based solely on such a practice.
While I have a Wii, I do not have any money. The likelihood is that I will not get the game unless I have money. Then and only then will I consider getting the game as I will then have the capability of purchasing it.

This is getting too pointless. The train that is this topic has sailed - most of what could be discussed has been, and most of the continuing conversation is irrelevant to the topic and to the board. A general warning was given previously indicating this would happen by both Darklight and myself.
