Just something I came up with...I've been reading some tutorials and started my own sprites.
My greater goal with this, is so I can do my own work on Shadows of the Past without having
to wait for my spriter.  Plus, I can have more control over how my characters will look.

So, how do you like my start?

Though no one comments...I push forward:

Now I have done an original 16x24...I like it.  It is in the style of Final Fantasy 6 though I did not edit any FF6 sprites.  After a few more, I think I am going to try to tackle Mana style.

Eh...still no comments....lol
Made a mockup with the sprite and a original tileset I just made...It's my first and fits more of the 16x16 style but I think it looks cool...I don't like the water...I couldn't really think of water in a detailed manner.

I like them, they look like a more detailed shining force style.
Which is always good.

I really like them.. you should try to make more variations to the cliffs.. also the grass could use some work same goes for the water but the npc is really good.. You should try this tutorial :

mostly the tsugumo tutoral.

You win for referencing shining force. Shining force = greatest thing ever.

As for the sprites, it looks so retro with the tiles that I can't help but love it. XD

Here is a walking animation of the 16x24 hero:

I tried hard to make it look decent.

the animation is way to fast.. and you should make the head bounce.

I just learned how to loop...lol

That is the style they use via FF6...the heads don't move until they walk sideways...
